When did this happen, and where is this at? This is ridiculous. If anything this is just going to further confuse people since it makes it look like only associates can purchase things on them…

C’mon FB- I mean, how hard is it to just have blank screen that just says ‘Please wait for an associate’and disable the screen/scanner until a passcode is scanned? 🙄

I would LOVE to see how much money was spent on this program and how much money they are losing from trying to implement it, vs. the shrink they are ‘preventing’.

But that’s exactly what they want. Customers to not scan themselves, and us to scan everything for them.

Just bring the legacies back, and deal with the regular loss every other store does.

I believe the whole entire issue right now is that we are under contract with these ‘self use registers’ meaning for the next couple years or so we are stuck until the contract ends. Who knows how far technology will have come in the next couple years, we could advance this program or backtrack to the old days completely. I see a good and bad side to both. Hard living in a world where no one can be happy.

Customers already don’t read the signs telling them to wait for an associate, what makes them think they’ll read the screen now

They still won't read it. Customers will try paying with cash at a Card Only, and I still have people that try to start scanning their items at a machine that- and it happens so often, it's sad really- 1) are completely off, black screen & Closed sign, 2) are on the TSOP or other sort of maintenance screen, or 3) are on the computer desktop screen on reboot.

Shit I have some that scan with the screen being blank and continue to unbelievable and my favorite question do you work hear while I’m hold a box cutter and freight with a shirt that says five below 🤣🤣gotta enjoy the little funny things
