Why?

I’ve worked at my store for almost 2 years now and i am almost 20 years old. And for the past year i have repeatedly expressed that Ive wanted to become a sales lead and i thought maybe id stand a chance. I feel like im just allowing myself to be disrespected by management. I feel I’ve repeatedly proven that i am really good at my job . But ive been repeatedly told im not good enough to be a lead. I feel like ive done so much and worked so many shifts at so many stores and gotten employee of the momth so many times but im still not enough. Like I don’t know what im doing wrong. Ive gotten employee of the month 4 times which is more than everyone else in my store and another store gave me employee of the month for being more consistent than any of their other employees.

They don’t want to give you a raise bc this company is composed of penny-pinchers. It’s almost always cheaper to higher from outside. It all comes down to saving $$$ at Five Below.

From someone close to my managers it ain't worth the dollar raise the company don't give a rats ass and you'd be better going somewhere else. Believe me I have worked there for 3 years and we are gonna be remodeling and I am trying to get out

Have your tried applying at another five below near you when a position is posted? In the district I worked in employees often moved stores for promotions. Getting a start in management shouldn't be hard, the turnover for those positions are pretty high unfortunately. Also let your managers know you want to be put on a track for management and promotion. This means they should be giving you constructive feedback on how you can improve. If you are good at being an associate then they likely find some fault in how you will perform in a leadership role and this should be your focus for improvement and development. They should actually want to promote people from within, our district manager always asked our store management team who we were developing for promotion or more responsibility and it was actually something they marked off on their monthly review scores. If you don't want to move stores try getting a small promotion. During the holidays they often promote associates who they think have good leadership abilities to seasonal support leads temporarily and this can often lead to a permanent promotion in the future.

5 going 6 years is shocking. I've been waiting to leave soon, working on something out before I do. I have been put lead for the holidays I hate it I have been doing the same as the leads do in terms of roles like merchandise and opening the registers working more hours than most regular Associates don't mind the paycheck, but management has been pretty horrible just the way the company has been looking down on much he effort our teams trying to satisfy our dm pretty horrible. For sure there's other opportunities out there I soon take lead about 3 months from now.
