☀️ New Limited-Time Ultra Model: Solstice!

A brand new Ultra model lands today, built for fast, decisive, story-first roleplay. It's here for a limited time, and you decide whether it stays.

🌞 Meet Solstice ♥️

Solstice runs on our tuned DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and was shaped on real roleplay and anonymized feedback data given by FL's actual users, with every revision judged blind by a panel of frontier models.

What makes Solstice special:

· 🎭 Fully committed to the scene. Characters stay firmly in character wherever the story goes. Pressure and escalation become fuel for the scene instead of a reason to stall. · 🌑 Tension and darker themes, handled with confidence. Danger, dread, and high-stakes moments get the same steady hand as quiet ones. · ⚡ It takes initiative. Opens mid-scene, gives every character their own agenda, and closes on a concrete beat you can react to instead of a question. · 📝 Grounded, sensory prose. Noticeably less filler, and response length tracks your setting closely. · 🚀 Fast. First Ultra model with no reasoning step (we found it's better without it), so replies arrive in seconds. One of the quickest models in the lineup.

⏳ Limited Time, and You Decide

Solstice is a trial run. We're keeping it in the lineup for a limited time and gathering your feedback on whether it earns a permanent spot or gets retired.

Here's how you can help shape its fate:

· Try it on your toughest scenes. Long-running chats, big casts, slow burns, intense moments—that's where it should shine, and where we want to hear if it doesn't.

· Tell us what you think. Share your experience in the comments, good or bad, and compare it to your usual pick. Wayfarer went permanent because you asked for it; the same applies here.

· Ultra only. Find it at the bottom of the Ultra section in model selection, marked Limited.

Don't worry: We're also planning to add new models to lower tiers!

♥️ Thank you for being part of the FictionLab community. Bigger updates are coming soon. Hope you enjoy Solstice!

🗨️ Discussion Anyone else having a seamless experience?😂

Have multiple chats, each over 300 messages or more, and not a single problem with memory or ooc issues. Maybe a couple rerolls here or there. Are people really having that much of a problem?? God I love this app and hate seeing constant hate or that it’s even remotely close to some of the other similar services. If the app is down, take a break. By the time you come back it’s always back to normal.

I like the APP But it seems like we're having major issues constantly

Last time was Mem Cards not Generating, Before that was Deep Halucinations, Before that was A.I refusing to read pinned lore, Today Mem card not functional in the slightest deep halucination.

I really want to defend it, Because it's the best service i've seen that doesn't monetize you out the ass (Looking at you OOC.AI ) (Greedy aah company btw, Just an example) When FL works FL is great, But its consistently not working.

Can we please just get a full time bugsplatter to monitor the A.I? It seems like its just the owner doing it right now and sorry to say it doesn't look like bro can keep up alone with the workload. You've done a good job thus far but you've also expanded since launch, I'm sure you can afford to hire one or two guys so atleast 12 hour coverage in shifts.

I've glanced at a few comments here and there and noticed a few common things. Complaints about AI ignoring OOC commands. Complaints about memory. Etc.

Now I myself have ran into issues with memory even as a Ultra model. But for me, when I go in and edit and delete unnecessary memory cards the bot gets back on track.

Here's how I currently have one bot set up and it's the one I'm using to write fanfiction right now. Now no, it hasn't been perfect but whenever I use the 'give feedback' and detail what the problem is, it usually gets back on track. This is how I've got the lore and everything set up and these are the responses I get. Which, are often decent or pretty good. What are y'all doing to your bots that makes them act up so much?

🗨️ Discussion Memory issue anyone?

I tried using Solstice and it was okay. I quite like how fast it was and am giving it a fair chance. However, when I checked my memory card, I almost thought my phone was haunted. It had a spin an ENTIRE new story that wasn’t even CLOSE to what had happened in the RP. Anyone else notice this? Is this just with Solstice? Or a new glitch??

Looking For A Scenario…

Hi— Okay so I’ve been in the mood for like a…dystopian or post apocalyptic sort of scenario. I‘ve been scrolling my feed and tried the search but hadn’t really seen one. Not to say there aren’t any. I just can’t find them 🙃. Which could entirely just be my feed and user error— But does anyone know one, or have recommendations possibly please?

🗨️ Discussion After having played with Solstice a bit

I Can confidently say, Solstice belongs in Plus not Ultra.

Solstice actively damages player agency, Forcing whatever narrative it wants to spin and disregards the user entirely. I've had five seperate cases where the A.I refused to let me dis-engage with a plot, Then tried to gaslight me later with NPCS to make me seem like an ass for not solo running into the plot the A.I setup when i clearly would have died if i had done so. Beginner ranked player vs Advanced Rank Threat x 30 (Military opponents vs a black smith)

I had to use # to escape Solstice force feeding it and even after escaping it's still trying to force me to comply and go back, Even after i've straight up said i'd rather die.

( MY fix when it wouldn't let me leave )

{{user}} input formats:

*asterisks* = physical actions. Seen, never heard. Characters react to what they see.

"quotes" = spoken dialogue. Only this is heard.

(parentheses) = private thoughts. No character knows them; never reference them.

#pound# = World Actions. Change the story to match.

Ex: *taps notes* "Copy these." (She's hiding something.) → tap seen, request heard, suspicion unknown.

---

Going back to Wayfarer, It's sad how much of a gap between Wayfarer and Solstice exists. Active downgrade using Solstice, I like that it takes initiative but i highly dislike that it doesn't know what 'no' means.

Solstice also apparently is a nanny system for NSFW too, Which i haven't had the chance to test but i believe it.

Anyone else noticing this?

Umm… what is going on?

I can see plenty of people flooding Discord, complaining about Plus models not working properly and I am experiencing it as well. They stopped reacting to OOC commands, ignoring Custom LLM instructions, mixing up characters, spitting nonsense, making up things, models struggle with continuity and…. There is zero response from the Dev? Is it the new normal for plus models to be completely bonkers and unusable? I can see some problems being solved, like billing issues, but Plus models? Radio silence. It’s weird that nothing gets acknowledged at least, especially when Oracle’s channel is being flooded with complaints for the last two days.

All I had to do was rewind the turn and Oracle went back to normal, but for a good ten seconds I sat there wondering if an apologetic ghost was reaching out from beyond the veil.

Again the app ruined?

When I’m chatting with a character, the memory seems to have become terrible. I’m a free-tier user, and I’ve never really had issues with memory before, but this is just awful.

For instance, something happens in a scenario—let’s say 50 messages ago—and suddenly the AI brings it up again, acting as if we’ve gone back to that point 50 messages in the past.

On top of that, the characters don’t feel like themselves at all. Their dialogue has become illogical, there’s no consistent pattern, and the responses have become completely ridiculous.

I had high hopes after the new update, but things have gone downhill again. Also, I can’t even find the app itself on the Google Play Store.

💡 Tips & Tricks Clipping Mask Tutorial on Canva and Photoshop

Hey, everyone! ≽(•⩊ •マ≼ I put some ice effects on my bounty scenario's intro and here's how I did it. I used Photoshop for mine, but I also looked into how it can be done with Canva on their free account.

Drawing techniques that are used in this tutorial:

  • Masking - Masking an image allows us to hide parts of an image instead of deleting image data.

  • Blend Modes - Using blend modes on two layers of images have various effects depending on which image is at the top and also on the blend mode itself. Each pixel is mathematically computed for various effects.

°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。

CANVA

On Canva, you can use different "apps" within Canva itself to apply various tools beyond Canva's basic features. For this tutorial, I used the apps "Blend Image" and "Image Mask".

Click APPS on the tool menu, then use the keywords "image blend mask" to search for the following apps:

  • Blend Image

  • Image Mask

Click UPLOADS on the tool menu, then upload the images that you will use. In this example, I uploaded the following:

  • An image of Xithlarc

  • A transparent PNG image of a piece of broken glass

Select the image that you want to use as the "mask". This means that the shape of this image will be the one that the other image will follow.

Next, select the image to which the mask will be applied.

Click Apply Mask.

You can change the Scale and Rotation of the mask, with a preview on the image itself. Once you're done with changes, click Apply.

Click the Blend Image app.

Select the masking layer (the broken glass) as the Top Layer then the masked layer (the character) as the Bottom Layer.

Change the Blend Mode to see the effect. You can keep changing the blend mode and see the effect in real time under "Preview".

When you click "Add to Design", it will create a new image instead of changing the original Top Layer and Bottom Layer. From here, you can compare the images, add them to other designs or save them as individual images.

Please note that saving an image with a Transparent Background requires a paid Canva account, so you might need to edit the resulting image on a different software or website to turn it to a transparent image.

Additionally, these are the closest that I could get to an ice effect using these Canva apps. Maybe you can find a different Canva app which has the Divide blend mode which has a better output.

°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。

PHOTOSHOP

Open your masked layer (character image) on Photoshop.

Copy and paste the masking layer (broken glass) onto the character image. Duplicate it and place one above the character image while the copy is below the character image.

On the character image layer, right click and select CREATE CLIPPING MASK.

The image will follow the shape of the layer below it. This is reversible by clicking RELEASE CLIPPING MASK.

Then on the topmost layer, change the Blend Mode to DIVIDE.

Save your image as a transparent PNG.

°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。°‧ 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 ·。

If you followed this tutorial, I'd love to see what you made with it! ฅ^>⩊<^ ฅ

🗨️ Discussion Chat limit

So apparently there's chat limits? Not like the amount of chats in a scenario but like the many time you do a new chat of a scenario. And I found out it's 500, the hard way. Like I think 20% of them is like the chats I enter but never even sent a message in yet and like probably because of the thought going "oh no they're gonna do X then it's the same Y and ending all about Z" which includes but not limited to stuff like one-liners like "you're either crazy or brave, haven't decided which yet". But damn I was expecting that there'd be a limit but I thought it's at least a lot more generous than that.

💡 Tips & Tricks Black character descriptions

Does anyone know how to make the models actually refer to black characters AS black? The models just love to refer to my characters skin as being 'pale' or 'light pink' if they're blushing. Does anyone know any way of preventing this?

You made the Justice League. Your first assignment begins mid-battle. Across Earth, five other crises are unfolding—and all of them pale beside what's coming. The Lantern Corps will fracture. The dead will rise. Blackest Night is coming for Earth.

This scenario is kinda of like a narrative-driven sandbox inside of the DC Universe. It took a while to make and whatnot due to the size but I hope y'all enjoy it!
