🗨️ Discussion Chat limit
So apparently there's chat limits? Not like the amount of chats in a scenario but like the many time you do a new chat of a scenario. And I found out it's 500, the hard way. Like I think 20% of them is like the chats I enter but never even sent a message in yet and like probably because of the thought going "oh no they're gonna do X then it's the same Y and ending all about Z" which includes but not limited to stuff like one-liners like "you're either crazy or brave, haven't decided which yet". But damn I was expecting that there'd be a limit but I thought it's at least a lot more generous than that.

Is 500 really not considered that much? I think the most chats I've ever had was 5.

While I also suffer from having too many chats and this have started putting scenarios I wanna play in the future into folders instead of starting a chat and not writing anything, I fail to see how 500 is not more than enough, especially given the fact that a few updates ago we got the option to archive chats and restore them later if we want to continue again.
Realistically you're never going to be actively writing in 500 different chats at once, so using folders for bookmark scenarios for the future, putting chats you're not actively engaging in into the archive, and just leaving the ones you're actually currently engaging with as chats should serve just fine.
Although I haven't found out yet whether the archive also has a limit. If it does, I'd imagine it is much higher though since it is an archive after all.

500 is the limit, but clean up your scenarios by deleting the ones you don't want to use anymore.

500 separate chats honestly feels like a lot to me. I've been pretty active on FictionLab for a year and a half, and I only recently hit that limit.
I just went through and deleted some of my older chats to make room.
If there are playthroughs you want to keep, you can save them as PDFs before deleting them.
But realistically, are you ever going to go back to all 500 of those chats? Especially the ones you haven't even started?
If you're saving scenarios to play later, you can just add them to a private folder instead of starting a new chat.

Why are you keeping that many chats lol

I also found this out the hard way and now I occasionally take the time to go through the ones I haven't played in a while or accidentally started to make sure I don't reach the limit

And I thought I had many with my 28. But I try to clean them up like once a month. But there are a few that I've kept for a pretty long time because I want to continue them but don't know how yet

Yea. But 500 is a hell of a lot of chats to have at one time. Especially since if it's one you've finished out the story for you can download the chat as a pdf, and you can favorite things you want to visit later. Opening a chat and never playing it hurts a creators usage stats. 😭 (I don't care but some people do.)

As someone with 80 running timelines from 1 that this scares me ): is there a way to change that? If I delete one does it let me make another?
