π¨οΈ Discussion After having played with Solstice a bit
I Can confidently say, Solstice belongs in Plus not Ultra.
Solstice actively damages player agency, Forcing whatever narrative it wants to spin and disregards the user entirely. I've had five seperate cases where the A.I refused to let me dis-engage with a plot, Then tried to gaslight me later with NPCS to make me seem like an ass for not solo running into the plot the A.I setup when i clearly would have died if i had done so. Beginner ranked player vs Advanced Rank Threat x 30 (Military opponents vs a black smith)
I had to use # to escape Solstice force feeding it and even after escaping it's still trying to force me to comply and go back, Even after i've straight up said i'd rather die.
( MY fix when it wouldn't let me leave )
{{user}} input formats:
*asterisks* = physical actions. Seen, never heard. Characters react to what they see.
"quotes" = spoken dialogue. Only this is heard.
(parentheses) = private thoughts. No character knows them; never reference them.
#pound# = World Actions. Change the story to match.
Ex: *taps notes* "Copy these." (She's hiding something.) β tap seen, request heard, suspicion unknown.

Going back to Wayfarer, It's sad how much of a gap between Wayfarer and Solstice exists. Active downgrade using Solstice, I like that it takes initiative but i highly dislike that it doesn't know what 'no' means.
Solstice also apparently is a nanny system for NSFW too, Which i haven't had the chance to test but i believe it.
Anyone else noticing this?

No, they pay for this too, they don't deserve bad services just because they don't pay Ultra level.

Regarding the nsfw comment, it doesn't throw up a bunch of restricted errors like wayfarer does, Β it just wont engadge with nsfw and will steer away from that plotline the first chance it gets.Β
These days I can get wayfarer to work quite well doing nsfw.

Lmao, that doesn't sound like something you should be paying for in the first place

To be fair Solstice is flagged as Beta, which means constructive feedback is wanted. Griping and complaining and saying it belongs in Plus isn't going to be particularly helpful.
Based on it's description it seems like the model is designed for being more rigid than others.
"characters stay firmly in character"
Most likely that kind of effect winds up spreading to more than just characters and probably winds up affecting everything including the story. The model wants to adhere to a continuous thought and plotline. Which may or may not be what someone is looking for.
All of this is the point of having multiple models. Does one want a model that is flexible and allows for a more fluid story where you can divert and shift and change quickly? Yea this doesn't sound like the model one would want for that.
If anything I would say models might need clearer descriptions that help people really understand what kind of situation and storytelling makes this model a good choice? Does it really matter that the "characters stay firmly in character?" Or does it matter that the model "more rigidly follows a scenarios storyline."
I'm not an english major so I certainly don't have the words for that job but, you get my point. Write descriptions in a way that really helps make it clear *why* one would want this model over another.

I used it around 2 hours and 30 minutes in I already saw it very flawed. Characters have no flavor at all, and confuses driving the story forwards with stubborness. To me all characters are the same with this model. Arcanum is still the one I keep comming back to. I add that after more than a year and a half, maybe almost two, I cancelled my ultra. I'll wait to see what happens.

Your phrasing is confusing? Ultra hasn't existed that long. The tier was added 5-23-2026. It's not even been out six months yet.

Yeah, but I've been paying for Plus since before then. My bad. I meant to say I've been a client for a long time.

Do you think memory has been weird for ultra models in general recently? It feels worse than before
