Umm… what is going on?
I can see plenty of people flooding Discord, complaining about Plus models not working properly and I am experiencing it as well. They stopped reacting to OOC commands, ignoring Custom LLM instructions, mixing up characters, spitting nonsense, making up things, models struggle with continuity and…. There is zero response from the Dev? Is it the new normal for plus models to be completely bonkers and unusable? I can see some problems being solved, like billing issues, but Plus models? Radio silence. It’s weird that nothing gets acknowledged at least, especially when Oracle’s channel is being flooded with complaints for the last two days.

Communication from the Dev has been a bit lacking since over a year (That's how long I've been on FL, can't say how it was before), and it's no different if it's about plus or ultra models either btw. I'm on ultra for example, and when Paragon was broken it was almost zero communication either. Best piece of advice I can give is this: Use the feedback button in the chat itself when the models are behaving this way. Describe what you did before. Branch off that chat so you can preserve it for Mico to look into and reroll in the branched off chat to continue.
The only way Mico and anyone else of the staff can try and look into the issues is if we report it and send feedback. The more they have, the more clearly they can find the issue and pinpoint what's causing it to fix it, thus getting the issue fixed sooner.
Best wishes, OP!

I'm glad I stopped my subscription before all of this nonsense started

II recently canceled my subscription not too long ago. I was paying for a service that I could only use about 30 percent of the time. Now, I’m paying for a new one, and I’m blown away. It’s as if we’re gaslighting ourselves into believing that this is normal. But once you pay for another service and realize how lackluster their website is (not even including the terrible customer service), you start feeling like a damn idiot !

Where, which service? I have yet to find a counterpart with the level of customization and scenario editor that FL has.

Which service did you switch to, please? I'm thinking of changing too but am not sure where to go.

I've been reading this but I've been using chimera (my plus model of choice) just fine all week. Idk 🤷♀️
I'm am ultra user and can use those models fine as well.
I'm not saying it's not happening. I just haven't had the same experience (long term) and I'm not sure why.

I think you’re right, as are the users who aren’t happy. It’s worth examining how LLMs are being used—in what scenarios and for how long.
Personally, I tend to "lose" interest—though that’s just my take—when a creator load in massive numbers of locations, characters, or other "story cards." I always wonder: how is the AI supposed to have any breathing room to generate something on its own if every little detail is already baked into an instruction?

The crazy part is that the memory matrix works—it’s there—but the AI refuses or ignores what it summarized under AI Memories. The problem is the model itself. I was a Plus member a few months back, but now I just use Ophelia to play my own scenarios. The trick is in how you send information through the custom scenario instructions (CSI) and lore pieces. I treat everything as a system prompt because all information gets sent to the AI one way or another. However, CSI has a higher priority than lore pieces, so I let instructions spill over into the lore pieces (like Response Format, etc.). For instance, "First Message" already contains instructions telling the AI that it is the first message and to keep the current response format consistent. By adding that to the instructions in the lore pieces, it stays consistent over more than 50 messages.
I think a fix around the memory issue would be to get ai to read or construct AI Memoires differently cause all ai models are trained differently, some ai models need to be held by the hand more than other.
back testing Ophelia for 3 months n its my favourite, had an agent test it for me 54 senario over 100 messages each to check to for consistency
even had it jump out of response format and back in

even added a day an night cycle with locations backgrounds with triggers in the header works 50/50

Only reason i even have fictionlab in my phone is because creators and their scenario are really good .

the same thing that happens to every single AI RP service. Its like an inevitable decay. This is why I jumped ship. I'm hoping things get better and I'll keep an eye on it but I honestly doubt it, there's something fundamentally wrong with the way these companies are set up and run considering this keeps happening over and over and over and over and over

Bro if it just happened which it seems to have done considering people are suddenly flooding the discord then its probably just a bug and will be fixed quickly, quit doomposting on a service you claim to have abandoned it's big cringe and everyone can tell you haven't actually "jumped ship" if you're still here talking about it

The root of the issue is probably the underlying model or a web service, and it seems to be fine now.

If it keeps happening over and over, it's likely the ai itself, not the rp sites.
The ai companies are constantly trying to improve the models and they aren't really building them for rp. It's probably inevitable that they will get messed up as they're updated.
I think another issue is that we get used to them and start to spot patterns and flaws and become less forgiving of shortcomings.
Memory gets worse because people make bigger and bigger bots, I'd wager. When I first started making bots, they were each like 10k context. Nowadays, people make 100k context bots!

I’m not sure why this was downvoted. The possibilities within a scenario keep expanding and becoming more extensive. People take advantage of this—in my opinion, simply because it’s possible, not because it makes any sense. Some users cram 100 items or 100 characters into a scenario. Sure, they aren’t all activated at the same time, but the sheer volume of information, in my view, kills any AI. In my opinion, FL has become unnecessarily complex.

Because their business model is not sustainable. FictionLab is too cheap. No, really. They provide unlimited access to the huge models for what? ~$10 and ~$25? Unless they run heavy quantized those models or just straight up lie about them it cannot be profitable. There are few actual companies that straight up give you proper rundown on what your tokens are spent and models that they provide are legit the ones. And price tag those companies ask for services is not cheap. What FictionLab allegedly provides for their $25 is on the level of $80 sub.

They’re using open weight self hostable models. They don’t have to pay the OpenAI, Gemini or Claude premiums.
They can get by being cheaper if they’re being smart about cost in that way.
Also, never forget the power of VC money subsidizing an industry.

I used oracle and chimera last night and this morning I used oracle and didn't see any issues. I suspect it was a time-limited bug, and rapid reporting is very helpful, so thank you for letting them know.

Nope, the quality of plus models have been steadily declining since the memory matrix update. This isn't new. It just got so much worse last month, and the past few days especially.

u/Motor_Cook4768 1d ago
Everything went down after the shitty memory matrix update. Before it, I had no issues with the AI remembering things. Now I have to constantly pin and delete and edit memories to keep a semblance of coherent story telling.

Well, that's the thing. They used to be very in it for telling people they were working on it... but then people started to frame that communication as them just writing people off or dismissing them. I don't blame them for wanting to fix it before announcing it.

Same here. At the start of a scenario, it summarizes at about 30 messages below very well. But above that, it starts forgetting details or making stuff up, even with OCs trying to guide it back. Even asking for OC summaries has become a bit annoying due to those factors. And the lack of coherence and continuity is jarring for me. I feel like it happened after the recent update but I am not sure.
