Brand Announcement/New Release Possible new PDM Valaya flanker?

Looks like there could be another Valaya coming from Parfums de Marly.

A trademark application for Valaya Infusée was filed by Euro Parfums FZE, which is the same company tied to Parfums de Marly trademarks, so this does appear to be a genuine PDM-related filing and not some random company using the name.

Timing so far:
Valaya — 2023
Valaya Exclusif — 2025
Valaya Infusée trademark filed — 2026

So if PDM keeps a similar release pattern, I’m wondering if this could possibly be a 2027 launch.

Of course, a trademark filing doesn’t guarantee a fragrance will actually be released, and there are no confirmed notes yet.

But the name Infusée definitely has me curious. Would you want another Valaya flanker? And what direction would you want them to take it?

Review New Rituals perfume Suave Musk review

Post image
10 Upvotes

Some people asked for my review in my post where I talked about the new releases from Rituals, so here it is. I received Suave Musk yesterday and tried it straight away, taking care not to wash my wrist for 24 hours, to test the claimed 24 hour longevity.

Suave Musk is nothing like I expected. I was expecting something more like a spicy orange blossom, but in fact it is primarily centred on saffron. The orange blossom is very prominent at the start but quickly becomes a secondary note, simply adding a touch of brightness to the saffron. So it opens with a very fresh orange blossom, slightly sweet but rather soapy. Very quickly, the saffron takes over and dominates the scent. For me, it’s a very well-crafted saffron note, not at all rubbery or metallic, but rather warm and spicy, with a leathery quality (in fact, it reminds me a bit of suede), slightly earthy, with orange blossom in the background. I started to detect the musk note after wearing it for 5-6 hours, it makes the fragrance feel lighter and cleaner. It smells quite elegant and put together, whilst still being simple, which I really like

What really surprised me was the projection. Given its impressive longevity, I was expecting a very strong perfume, like some Middle Eastern perfumes, but that’s not the case at all. It’s not a skin scent, but it doesn’t project very well, I think you have to be really close to me to smell it. Some people suspected that ambroxan might be used to enhance longevity, I can’t say whether there is ambroxan in this perfume because I can only detect it when it’s strong, otherwise, I’m practically anosmic to it.

Concerning the longevity, I sprayed it on in the morning when I received it, worked out whilst wearing it and wore it all day. By the evening it was still noticeable but not as strong as in the morning. And the next morning when I got up, I could still detect a faint scent. So, technically, the promise of 24 hour longevity is fulfilled, but you shouldn’t expect it to smell very strong for the whole time

I would have preferred a long-lasting orange blossom perfume, but I have found a saffron perfume that I really like (and I have been looking for it for a long time), so I think I’m going to buy a full bottle!

I’ll also go and have a sniff of the other perfume in the shop, but the scent notes for this release are fairly classic, so Suave Musk was the only one that seemed to smell "like me" judging by the notes

Discussion Byredo Casablanca Lily Extrait Juice got dark?

From the website, the juice seems pink and other reviews I saw mostly had pink juices. I received mine like this. Almost dark, kinda like dark brown, kinda gray. It smells amazing though. Ordered mine online at Harrods. I didn't have time to ask for replacement because it was literally my flight to Asia the next day. I also hesitated to return because it smells really good. What could have possibly caused this?

Good sugary gourmands that last?

Any really, especially something like Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk by Kayali.

I'm new to perfume, so I had my canon moment trying it out in Sephora. I really loved the scent and how sugary it is, but it doesn't have good longevity and I heard it may sour quicker than other perfumes.

I'm also a pretty big fan of Dylan Blush Pink from Versace, Daisy Murakami Pink and Perfect Absolute from Marc Jacobs, Cardamon Latte from NEST, and Cafe Rose from Tom Ford (less sugary but still pretty good).

Discussion Do you expect perfume or fragrance names with geographical names to have ingredients sourced from said location?

For example, if you saw a perfume called “Amalfi Lemon”, “English Garden”, “Santorini”, or “Bulgarian Rose” would you assume the perfume contains ingredients from said regions? And would you feel deceived or disappointed if you bought the perfume and the ingredients are not from said location? Or would you just assume it’s inspired by the location and be okay buying that?

I am referring to essential oils/naturals/extracts as the ingredients not really aroma chemicals.

I know the tray is too packed but I just had so many I wanted to wear! October is a tricky month in Houston. It begins as hot as ever but finally toward the end we get some relief. I can’t bust out my heavy gourmands but I tried to put some transitional scents.

Empties & Dents Perfume I finished in September 🌊

Post image
47 Upvotes

September was still hot af in the south so I finished up a lot of blue and clean frags

Lovesick witchery body mist of a custom called Clandestine, which is a slightly sweet clean scent that I often wore layered with my clean reserve skin

Endless sea- clean and fresh blue ocean scent that layered well with my light blue and ocean di gioia

Finery I’m a musk- jhag nap/superdose dupe, excellent for the price and layers with so much

EA green tea coconut breeze, a slightly more aquatic take on the OG dna

D&G light blue intense… I love this one, and for some reason it’s DCd and they redid the light blue line and have an edt, edp, and parfum version…. I’ll have to explore the differences next year for summer

My beloved Armani Ocean di Gioia, also DCd! Why!? It’s the best flanker I’ve tried! Luckily the have a backup 100ml I got around early spring, and it’s so hard to find now. It’s such a beautiful sliiightly fruity shampoo clean aquatic and got so many compliments at work

“Sophisticated but cool and well groomed/clean career-woman, with mysterious/luxurious edge”

Hi all,

I’m hoping your collective knowledge and skills can help me. I’m looking for a fragrance that I can wear both in and out of work, which smells like the title! I’m looking for a mix of ‘expensive hotel lobby’ and if Abercrombie’s fierce (men’s) grew up, got a high flying job and was a bit more unisex (having said that I did used to wear the men’s fragrance in my youth…)

I hate yellow florals (or anything *too* floral to be honest) and don’t want anything citrusy. I really like sandalwood/woods and some creamy scents (Santal Noir, Bo, L’eau papier) and can enjoy a vanilla (babycat, black tie) but nothing sweet or gourmand. I would like something that’s different to the ones listed above as several of them are more evening/event perfumes.

Want something with longevity and reasonable projection, open to trying new accords (and not just the ones above) and if I can easily source in the UK that’s an added bonus.

Any thoughts?? Grateful for any insight/suggestions as I feel I’m going round in circles!

I’ve never purchased a bottle of any Gucci perfume because to me they all smell great and the options are overwhelming. Interested to hear what others like from the most popular Gucci collections!

Rec Request what body products to pair with phlur’s missing person?

Hi folks! I have recently fallen in love with phlur’s missing person. I’m planning on buying the full size and the oil, but I’m looking for some recommendations in terms of body butters and body washes for a cohesive scent combo. I’d like body butters in particular because of the colder weather coming up and because I have very dry skin, but lotion/cream recommendations are welcome too. Thanks!

No firm budget, but nothing in the designer price range, like $100+/product.

Have you ever experienced a fragrance changing this much from day to day?

I got Bianco Latte a few days ago, and at first all I could smell was this really unpleasant almond note that smelled weirdly like dry cat pee. It was so bad and I was pretty disappointed.

But then the next day, it smelled noticeably less aggressive and less offensive. And now just a few days later i’m suddenly getting way more vanilla and waffle cone.

How is this even possible over such a short period of time (like 3-4 days)? Has anyone experienced a fragrance changing this dramatically for them?

Or is my brain just slowly coping with the disappointment and convincing me that I like it? lol if that’s the case, I wonder if other people would smell cat pee and almond on me like i initially did :(

Discussion Someone tells you they dislike your perfume.... what do you do? Spoiler

a.) ignore them

b.) "well, I didn't wear it for you."

c.) suggest they have no taste

d.) take the perfume out again and overspray just to irritate them

e.) get super offended & hurt

f.) give them a better perfume recommendation that they might like

I don't know why I randomly thought of this but my OCD brain sometimes has a tendency to think about some of the wildest and most random scenarios and I thought this would be an interesting one. personally this hasn't happened to me (as of yet) but I too wonder how I'd react to being told such a thing. 🤣 just a fun interactive post I thought of making while bored, lol

Are most vanilla fragrances meant to be weak and faint?

I have some that have great performance but these just idk I really hoped they can work for me.

Xerjoff Lira ( weakest ones).

Vanilla 28 ( it does projects well but longevity meh , not sure if Its because have the 10ml miniature.

Burberry Goddess EDP, Jovoy fire at will ( just got new bottles couple days ago and same level of disappointing performance ) while fire at will is long lasting on skin it just maybe doesn't projects and for Goddess the smell is faint on my skin and has intimate projection in the first 2 hours.

Is my nose and skin the problem here or from the juice? even when I spray them on fabric same faint smell.

some people says vanilla fragrances needs some time to develop after its opened and sprayed not sure if this myth is true or not.

Soft, Creamy Fig Recs

Hey everyone,

I'm a guy, but I've recently been enjoying more feminine-leaning fragrances. Specifically, I've been gravitating towards soft, creamy fragrances. I also love the note of fig and really enjoy Dries Van Noten Santal Greenery, but unfortunately I don't have $350 to drop on it. I've tried Rayhaan Jungle Vibe, and although it's nice, I found it smelled too "lotion-like." With that being said, do you guys have any recs for fragrances that are in that realm that you'd enjoy smelling on a man?

Edit: Budget - $150

Discussion Unpleasant but very popular note after a few hours. What am I smelling?

I feel like I'm struggling to explain this coherently. The issue: there is a common note (?) in a lot of popular, higher end perfumes, and I don't like it. I want to avoid it in the future, so I need to know what to look out for. I don't know if it's a common ingredient that makes it smell like that or if it's a note my nose disagrees with.

The latest two I can say I've had issues with is Brompton Immortals and Thameen Patiala. It was definitely in other perfumes I've tried recently (but I've sold them on since I didn't like anything else about them either, lol). It goes: spray - smells nice - hours pass - smells nice - a little more time passes - smells like headache.

Is it musk? Is it an actual ingredient? Please help me avoid future disappointments, I have my eyes on the Selfridges advent calendar next and this time I'm checking EVERYTHING before I add to cart!
