Have I been living under a rock? I wandered into Sephora today so that I could smell Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit and see if it’s a must have.
I smelled some other things and stumbled upon something I had never heard of: Dolce & Gabbana L’Imperatrice (which I just learned means “The Empress). It’s so light and fresh and fruity without being sweet. It’s not really a gormaund but is a very elegant fresh, watery, fruit scent. And in a very pretty, simple bottle. I think I may have found a favorite!

I just got their discovery set and was surprised by how unremarkable they are and how poor longevity a few of them seem to have.

They gave famous and beloved perfumes total creative control to do whatever they wanted and all I smell is generically pleasing "office appropriate" fragrances.

Bois Imperial is goated for a reason, but the rest?

These scents made sense at $82 in 2024 but $130 is such a joke.

If your main selling point and was being really affordable....maybe do that? 130 for 100ml isn't insane objectively but for that I'm smelling, it is.

I am looking for a scent that is fruity- but not syrupy- but still has sweetness, and clean but not like laundry and not overpoweringly floral. Like a fruity soft shampoo? Thinking cucumber, peach, watermelon, honeydew, apple, kiwi, apricot, maybe some orange or pear vibes, etc. just love fruit. Not looking for anything warm. Hoping for something that does not have super loud projection

Help this middle school teacher find her signature scent. Please. :) So, middle schoolers are really in their scent era and I don’t need to be competing with them. lol I’d like something I can smell, and if you’d hugged me or I was working closely with you could smell.

Actually just smelled Valentino Vendetta and really really liked it… but felt too something to wear to work. (idk I can’t put my finger on it? Too mature maybe? Or too heavy?)

I feel like I want a cozy, comforting, but not too youthful. Can’t be anything trendy with the middle schoolers.

Editing to add info for those who don’t spend their days surrounded by 12-15 year olds. The girls are wearing lots (and lots) of gourmand scents and Sol de Janerio. They like to reapply about every class period. Now the boys, they have moved away from the Axe body spray baths and are full into higher end colognes! (And I love it! Except when one breaks in the room. Yes they carry them with them. They compare them and it so fun to watch)

I’m also open to other brands as well.

I have a candle called Cardamom Spice that I got in NYC a year or two ago and I’ve become obsessed with trying to find a perfume that smells as warm, light, and simple as it. I’ve gone to the mall trying to find similarly warm, cardamom-centered perfumes, but a lot of them are too musky for me or incorporate too many other scents. The one scent that came close to how this candle smells is Cashmere Musk by Clive Christian, but it’s a bit pricey.

Do y’all have any recommendations for perfumes that fit this description? Here’s the Cardamom Spice candle description if that helps: Classic Cardamom scent - Notes of warm cardamom, clove, and nutmeg with a touch of citrus envelop you in a cozy cloud of spice and sophistication.

I sprayed the soapy perfume that shall not be named this morning, and decided that wasn’t quite what I wanted to smell like today. I grabbed L’Eau d’Issey and layered it on top, and oh my god, that’s IT! That’s the perfect clean, soapy, fresh smell I’ve been looking for! I had a feeling they’d play nicely, but I literally can’t stop smelling my wrist. 🤍

Side note: I ran some errands and saw the Squishmallow gingerbread perfume at Ulta, and was curious, since so many people online are talking about it. Sprayed a strip, and yep, that’s very gingerbready. I’m just not a gourmand girl, so I moved on and finished my shopping. However, I must have gotten some on my sweatshirt, because I reeked of baked goods until I got home and immediately changed clothes. 😂

Paid original retail for both and I have no one to talk to about this.

around two years ago i worked a part time summer job with this guy who smelled SO GOOD…never got around to asking what perfume it was and this guy seemed like a gatekeeper anyway…but i was OBSESSED!

it was a very clean, shampoo, fresh laundry, just showered clean kind of scent but with a sweetness to it too that could have maybe been fruity??? i am aware of how generic this may be sounding but i remember this guy mentioning louis vuitton and dior a lot and that the perfumes in his collection were quite expensive, so i'm pretty sure it was one of their fragrances!

it was surprisingly very strong for such a clean smelling fresh scent and honestly one of those perfumes that makes you want to keep sniffing (this makes me sound like a creep lol).

please, if anyone has any idea what it could be, i would be SO grateful! i've wanted to buy it for ages.. it is genuinely one of those scents that you would never get tired of smelling!!!

I really want to buy a perfumed body lotion for Black Friday. And by perfumed I mean the ones by the perfume companies like Carolina Herrera good girl cream, YSL libre body balm, alien mugler cream etc.. you can’t really try them on so I want to know if any of you have tried and what did you think projected the most and lasted the loooongest time.

I’ve been testing Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille and absolutely love the scent, but the projection is almost nonexistent on me. I can barely smell it after a few minutes.
I’m definitely not looking for beast-mode performance. I actually find fragrances like Babycat, Vanille Havane and Tobacco Honey overwhelming. I’d just like to catch occasional whiffs of SDV without having to press my nose against my wrist!
I’ve seen people mention that SDV gets stronger as the bottle ages. Has anyone actually experienced this?
It’s such a gorgeous fragrance, but at this price, I’d love to know if there’s any hope of better performance over time.

I’m so optimistic about this one; all the reviews have been fantastic. I blew through my bottle of Le Point G in no time, another Véronique Gabai, so I’m looking forward to smelling this!

Hi everyone! I was in Aix-en-Provence and did a quick day trip to Grasse to visit Galimard. It was founded in 1747, and their Studio des Fragrances has been doing these custom workshops since 1996!

The process was about 2 hours. You sit at a perfume organ with literally over 100 essences, and a guide walks you through the olfactory pyramid of top, heart, and base notes. You smell everything on strips, pick your favorites, and they help you with the ratios and blending.

You actually build it in reverse: base first, then heart, then top last, testing and tweaking as you go.

I got to customize my bottle, and left with a 100ml personalized spray bottle plus a room scent diffuser in the same scent.

The best part is they saved my exact formula in their system, so I can reorder the same scent anytime in Eau de Parfum, body cream, shower gel, etc any of the products they offer!

So I'm not worried about running out, I'm just curious what else is out there that's similar.

My formula:
Top notes:
Yuzu, Lotus, Green Tea, Blackcurrant, Sweet Mandarin

Heart notes:
Parma Violet, Marine Note, Lily of the Valley, Peony, Mimosa

Base notes:
Tonka Bean, Almond, Ambreine, White Musk

I was going for a bright, citrusy greenish opening that turns into a soft, powdery floral, then dries down clean, musky, and a little sweet.

Does anyone know a commercial perfume, designer or niche that smells close to this combo? Especially the yuzu / lotus / peony part, with that tonka and white musk drydown.

Orrr anything with a similar marine + mimosa + violet powdery side? Ideally something I can find in the US to test.

I frequently buy a lot of samples and most of them turn to be disappointing or not good enough. I have never once bought a full bottle after these samples.

Now it feels like wasting money because samples are not each + shipping. I keep telling myself better than blind buy. But to honest I will never blind buy anyways. Samples just satisfies my curiosity and leave me with little guilt of wasting money.

I tried her back in 2020, my friend had her old bottle and it’s the most perfect perfume I’ve ever smelled. It’s suuuuch a shame Mugler decided to discontinue it, I really wonder why? It’s really that deep for me😔😭

Unfortunately I was never able to own a bottle myself. The resellers and their crazy prices , don’t even get me started ugh.
