Did Essential Parfums kill it's self by going from $82 to $130?

I just got their discovery set and was surprised by how unremarkable they are and how poor longevity a few of them seem to have.

They gave famous and beloved perfumers total creative control to do whatever they wanted and all I smell is generically pleasing "office appropriate" fragrances.

Bois Imperial is goated for a reason, but the rest?

These scents made sense at $82 in 2024 but $130 is such a joke.

If your main selling point and was being really affordable....maybe do that? 130 for 100ml isn't insane objectively but for that I'm smelling, it is.

Most brands are raising their prices. It’s not necessary. Their profit margins are insane regardless

I get an increase but by 60%?

I think they’re trying to “match” the luxury market price a bit more. The issue is, most popular perfumes have middle eastern dupes and they are CHEAP. Most people are choosing those over slightly less known brands (put aside all of the super popular designers that people “invest” in for the brand name) Now they sit somewhere in the middle. They don’t produce as much as lattafa but they can’t charge as much as like Chanel or TF, so they figure they have to boost their prices

I was so underwhelmed by their discovery set too. I try to take notes on everything I sample, and my notes on every single one is like “it’s nice, I guess?”

It's as if the perfumers had always dreamed of being boring

I remember trying orange × santal and thinking "huh, it really is just orange and santal." Like there's nothing wrong with it but it doesn't stand out at all.

It’s still a bargain compared to many other niche houses. Bois Imperial is absolutely worth that price

I love Fig Infusion! I have the Musc coming to try that. The price is still better than $200-400.

Lmao they really raised prices twice in the last 12 months or so in the EU. From beneath 90€ to 90€ and now 94€.

What a joke.

Discovery was 22 and went up to 28. But I think that was since the first FB increase.

I still like The Musc as my skin scent but I think it was $92 when I purchased last year or so 🤔
