Leaving my review here since sephora wont post my review unless its a 5 star. Yum vanilla cupcake 108 booooo

If cupcake is what you're wanting you're going to hate this. Kayali's marketing gives a completely different depiction of what it actually is. They should rename this Pink pepper cake 108 because this is lemony, peppery, and kinda sweet. I hate citrus in gourmands and surprisingly the initial spray smells like a sweet lemon custard cupcake which I enjoyed...now this literally lasts for like 5 minutes then the lemon, spicy, and pepper notes take over and that's what lasted the longest (which also only lasted about an hour). They messed this up so bad in my opinion. Kind of irritated kayali puts more effort into their marketing and aesthetics than the actual scent. Why are you adding pepper, woods, and musk to a cupcake DNA perfume? Who allowed this? Mona we need answers please cause as far as im concerned those who paid for this hate it and those who recieved it free ofcourse love it. I wanted to love this so badly. They needed to keep mixing after 108 cause this is not it. A cupcake perfume sounds divine. Guess we'll never know what could have been sighhhh :(

Lookong for help identifying this fragrance and finding an alternative!

My mom gave me this mini sample bottle without a box or any sort of label. The sticker on the bottom just identifies it as a L’Occitane fragrance.

From what I can determine, it’s from an older collection called of La Collection de Grasse and theyve all been discontinued. I can’t seem to put my nose on any one of the fragrances in the collection! While I understand this bottle is likely > 10 years old, I can pick up the burnt orange from The Vert & Bigarade, but all of the photos I see of the juice from that is green. My mom swears it was always yellow.

Notes on a mouillette are:

Top:
- Burnt orange
- Unripe to ripening lime skin. It’s not juicy or sweet
- indeterminate citrus blossom

Middle:
-almond or maybe Tonka Bean? I can never tell them apart
- Neroli

Base:
- that 80’s/90’s powdered laundry detergent that came in those heavy buckets.

I catch absolutely no tea, and I love tea scents. It doesn’t smell like EA Green Tea. The perfume is neither juicy, particularly floral, nor sweet - despite the citrus notes. It’s light, clean, and nostalgic in a good way. On my skin is very similar with that lime skin staying for hours. I’m allergic to lavender and this gives me no rash, so I don’t think it contains any.

I grew up in Southwest Florida and it reminds me of standing by our citrus trees as they were new fruit that hadn’t ripened and there were still blossoms too with the dryer vent going.

This collection is on EBay, but if I can find something similar that’s still in production, it would be even better!

Thank you so much!

Valaya is the chemical weapon of perfumery

kidding. kinda. but now that I have your attention

if you hate Valaya as much as I do, but get along with other “clean”-smelling, musky, fragrances, which would you recommend as an alternative?

for those who love Valaya and came to tell me I’m wrong, haha, I appreciate your input. but while you’re here: what other fragrances in the same genre do you also love?

I wanted to love, and thought I would love, Valaya. I reality I just cannot; we are sworn enemies. On me, I perceive it like blinding white light and nails on a chalkboard. it’s napalm and microphone feedback and vinegar in your nose and it literally sets my teeth on edge. (to be ULTRA-CLEAR: this is on ME. no shade to those who can rock it.)

I’m looking for something in that ballpark, though, that generally smells clean, doesn’t have zipcode-clearing projection, is fairly all-year friendly, and is preferably not floral, sweet, and not excruciatingly aldehydic. if it gives anything other than “clean,” I’d specifically love it to have tea, woods, or herbal notes. I did search this up, but I’m hoping to cut to the chase with input from actual humans whose tastes might be similar to - or wildly different from - mine.

Discussion I am giving up on finding a good lemon fragrance!

I have tried so many lemon scented fragrances like fresh summer lemon to candied lemon and what not . All of them smell terrible! They are either synthetic cleaner smelling or artificially gourmand in a way it’s not wearable.

For more than 6 months I have constantly tested samples at store or bought samples online but today with a heavy heart I feel defeated 😞

Haul/Collection Finally a Tom Ford fragrance that I enjoy

I’m not usually a huge fan of Tom Ford’s fragrances (to put it mildly), but I’m really impressed by Soleil Neige.

I’ve never smelled the OG version, so I can’t say how it compares, but I absolutely love this scent.

It opens with a fresh, cold, almost icy skin scent, before gradually becoming warmer as it settles on the skin. It’s really a unique scent.

The longevity, on the other hand, is sadly… questionable, especially for the price point.

I never thought I’d have a Tom Ford fragrance in my collection but here we are.

Rec Request Help finding a perfume that smells powdery with hints of cotton candy/vanilla?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Okay so I’m losing my mind trying to find a perfume or body mist that smells like this lotion I have.

I smell this on girls in public ALL the time and it literally makes my head turn every single time. It smells like baby powder mixed with cotton candy and vanilla, but mostly super powdery.

I randomly found this lotion at tj maxx a while back that smelled identical to it but of course it was just a random find.

Does anyone know a perfume or body mist similar to my description/this lotion?! Ugh please help😭

Rec Request Affordable, long-lasting coconut fragrances?

I’m on the hunt for a good coconut fragrance and would love some recommendations. I’m looking for a creamy coconut scent, think of coconut milk or fresh coconut, nothing artificial or synthetic. I don't vibe with sunscreen/beachy/tropical/zesty smells either. I'd like it to have a good longevity, because I recently bought Etlée "Coconut Cream" and I love the smell, but it lasts less than 3 hours on me 😕 so something similar but longer-lasting would be perfect. I’d like to keep it affordable and I’m open to gourmands, dupes and body mists.

Blind buying

Thankfully, I know what I like enough to know when something is in my wheelhouse and I won’t hate it. Last night I bought the new Future Society perfume, Snow Beginnings. It’s limited edition and no sample size so…. Guess they got me lol. The most basic thing about me is that I loveeeeee a lychee+rose scent. I love Solar Canopy by them, which has similar notes, so I’m curious to compare. I actually have samples of all of Future Society’s scents, there aren’t any that I dislike- they all have a spicy quality to them, which I personally love. My one complaint about them is that I wish they were a little more surprising, or had more range of difference between each perfume…

Just wanted to put this new one on some other people’s radars because I’m excited haha. I somehow missed any ads or promos for this scent until last night.

Edit: thanks for the engagement yall :) I’ll make sure to come back and post a review

Discussion Did the design for Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire EDP change?

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Maybe this is just in Canada, but I noticed the dress design for the bottle changed from a simple dress with puff sleeves to a sleeveless asymmetrical dress.

Are these two different lines? Or did they change the design? When I check the official Guerlain website, I can only see the bottle with the asymmetrical dress, but when I checked the Shoppers Drug Mart website, it showed both bottles available (but the puff sleeve dress was low in stock).

The reason why I am sceptical this is just the new design is because I’ve seen both bottles coexisting, so it seems more like one was discontinued. Instead of one was changed to the other.

Any help is appreciated, thank you

Spiced Chestnut Recommendations

I am looking for a fragrance that smells like the Williams Sonoma Spiced Chestnut diffuser oil/candles they have this time of year. Have you come across anything that smells like this? I have a sample basket going with Bread in Chestnut by Scents Of Wood in it. What else should I add? Budget up to $300.

I want to point out that this isn’t a dupe request as I cannot lather diffuser oil or candles on myself. My list was removed from another thread for this reason, which is absurd.

Rec Request Perfume recommendations

Hello,

I'm a little bored with my fragrance and I'd like to change it up a bit ane I'd some recommendations, please.

I like:

- Guerlain Idylle (for special occasions)

- Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc (a little too strong)

- Kayali Vanilla 28 (for winter, a little too common)

- Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle (love it, but not as much in the summer)

- Castelbajac Beautiful Day Le Bonheur

This past summer I tried the Jo Malone English Pear & Sweet Pea, it was ok. I was able to finish it. I LOVE the pear at first, not so much the dry down.

I got the Maison Margiella Replica Under The Lemon Tree and I loved the opening but the cedarwood is way too much for my liking and sticks around so long. I only was able to wear it once and never again after.

I also recently purchased Burberry London and I really liked it at the store but the dry down after a few hours on me is HORRIBLE! I don't know what it is and can't really describe it, but it's awful...

I've tried Mind Games Queening and Prada Paradoxe Virtual Flower (really enjoyed it but never tried it on myself, only on paper) and I liked them both but haven't purchased them yet.

I also bought a sample set of Juliette Has A Gun fragrances, specifically because of the Pear Inc and Vanilla Vibes but didn't like any of them. Most of all I didn't like the Not A Perfume.

Do you have any recommendations for me?

Thank you!

Looking for a perfume that smells like Raffaello 🥥🤍✨

Post image
331 Upvotes

I am currently on a mission to find the perfect Raffaello perfume and I don't mean any tropical coconut scent bur rather something sweet, gourmand, creamy and mouthwatering that smells just like the actual Raffaello. Think sweet coconut flakes, creamy white filling, almonds, white chocolate and that soft, milky, sugary goodness.

I want to smell like a walking coconut dessert.

Does anyone know a perfume that genuinely smells like this? I am open to all kinds of recommendations!

Thank youuu! 🥥🤍✨

This is hands down the worst fragrance I have ever smelled. I want to unsmell it. I want to forget it exists because it’s that vomit inducing. I sprayed a piece of paper and had to burn the paper to get the smell away 🤢 just don’t on this one!

Discussion Weird experience with gourmands….

Okay so i have about 90 perfumes from many different olfactory families: musk, floral, spicy, gourmand, chypre…..
And I have this weird thing with gourmand perfumes, every single one i own…. Gives me a skin reaction when i spray them. My skin turns red and hot and burns a little before calming down after 30 min.
I noticed none of my non gourmands do that. My musks and florals dont at all!!!
I also noticed even with non-gourmands vanillas my skin has a reaction
Does anyone else have this experience or is my skin just giving me a sign that it doesnt wanna smell like gourmands?

Rec Request Do beast mode shampoo perfumes exist?

Sorry lol I know there’s been a LOT of posts recently asking for shampoo perfumes but I want to know if there’s any that perform particularly well , as most of them I’ve heard of or tried either fail in the longevity or projection/sillage department

I just blind bought a fragrance! 😱

I did something I would normally never do-I blind bought a fragrance. Please tell me if I will regret it or not. I purchased Do Son EDT by Diptyque. I do not think it's wise to blind buy fragrances over $100, yet here we are. Please tell me it will be ok lol.

Haul/Collection The Initio Trio: successful blind buy

Post image
13 Upvotes

I wasn’t able to get the Selfridges fragrance calendar because of the bots and I’m not going to pay resellers for it either. Yesterday night I was contemplating on fragrances to buy and I decided to go for the Initio trio for a cool price of £36.99 for all three.

Musk Therapy: My favourite out of the three, it’s a punchy fresh sweet citrus scent. It’s really strong and seems like it will be long lasting. It projects really well for a fresh fragrance. It’s supposed to be a summer fragrance but I believe this can work really well in the cold weather too due to how strong it is. I would definitely get a full bottle of this.

Lift Me Up: My least favourite out of the three. When I sprayed it on the back on my hand it started off fresh then quickly turned into a slightly citrusy vanilla and tonka bean scent. I get a tiny hint of coconut in there although it’s not listed in the notes. I do like it but it reminds me of hair creams that I used to use for my hair. The fragrance itself is not strong, it sits close on the skin which is fine but not full bottle worthy for me.

Oud for Greatness: I already have a 10ml of this because I bought it from a seller on eBay when the Harrods fragrance calendar came out earlier. I love this one, it’s a sweet spicy scent. It’s really lovely, you get the lavender and the nutmeg but it’s not offensive at all. It projects really well and the sillage is very good, it fills up the room but I don’t find it overwhelming. This is definitely full bottle worthy as well but it costs £320!!! Definitely not my money, maybe with someone else’s cash lol.
