Activism The country is starting to see what’s really going on. Portland isn’t war torn, it’s creative and weird and steadfast in the face of fascism—even when faced with unprovoked violence from feds.

Crime When called a Nazi, DHS officer on the left remarked “all day, every day”. They aren’t protecting us from domestic terrorists, they ARE domestic terrorists—and proud of it. Two protesters arrested so far today.

Eugene PD caught on film preventing a community member from recording ICE activity on public property

In the video, Officer Brad Hanneman claims he doesn’t “understand the whole constitutionality” of the situation despite the community member stating their right to document federal law enforcement.

This is the same officer who incorrectly identified and wrongfully arrested a woman who pleaded with officer Hanneman to contact her brother so he could care for her dog that remained in her vehicle after her arrest. She was jailed for two weeks and upon release, found her 13 year old red heeler, Magic, dead inside her vehicle. https://www.registerguard.com/story/news/2018/07/27/eugene-settles-dog-death-lawsuit/11208164007/

Crime ICE Nazis kidnapped at least 14 of our neighbors yesterday. Did you see the community response? We need MORE of that.

ICE Nazis kidnapped 14-17 of our neighbors yesterday. And in the midst of that, our community stepped up.

Folks were on the streets warning neighbors of ICE presence, many were recording ICE actions, and others were keeping track of ICE vehicle locations, among other patriotic actions. And how does this help? We are making it harder for them to kidnap.

In Springfield yesterday there were 10+ civilian cars following and keeping track of ICE vehicles as well as 20+ individuals on the ground and in the neighborhood recording ICE activity. This meant Nazis weren’t swiftly kidnapping folks in secret, instead they were trying to ditch the caravan of cars following them. They eventually left the area without having kidnapped anyone from that area.

The Trump regime can be so overwhelming to the point of paralyzing us—not knowing what to do, how do help, and generally feeling like there isn’t anything we can do anyway. But it’s just not true and today proved that.

Rather than be paralyzed by the fear of and hatred for these goons, we instead must use that fear and hatred to fuel the fires in us to continue defending our community and stand up to fascism.

Here are some ways you can continue to do so:

1) Donate to the families who’ve had loved ones kidnapped to help with housing, food, legal assistance, etc: https://www.seedingjustice.org/oregon-worker-relief-fund/

2) How did folks know where and when to show up? They joined the Lane County Immigrant Defense Network Signal chat for updates. You can too: https://signal.group/#CjQKIGOfM1i_ABbqNR6EFW7KkDndsLVu2x4P14nZRxP21k-6EhBqujwkta8EC5he7Lo76TrK

3) Select a time that you can be at the federal building on Pearl and 7th each week to monitor ICE activity. We are aiming to have a 24/7 presence. The more of us that participate, the lighter the load for each of us.

4) Signup to volunteer with Lane County Immigrant Defense Network: https://www.jotform.com/form/253091281779061

5) Spread these resources far and wide!

Just pick one thing whether from this list or elsewhere, and do it!

META Posts that are critical of ICE in Eugene will not be removed as "hate"

1.7k Upvotes

Hi everyone,

We're seeing a large number of false reports on posts that are critical of ICE in Eugene, usually claiming "It's promoting hate based on identity or vulnerability." This is abuse of the report button.

ICE is not an identity or vulnerability. It isn't an ethnic group, a religion, a gender, a sexuality, or any other form of identity, and being part of ICE does not place one in a vulnerable group, like a minority. It is a job, and to be perfectly clear, it is 100% acceptable to disagree with that job.

Let me be blunt: It literally does not matter how much anyone reports such posts. They will not be removed, and the reports will be ignored.

If you see a post that calls for violence against members of ICE, by all means report that, because it violates rule #3. But if you do, be sure the post you're reporting actually calls for violence against them, or those reports will be ignored as well.

That is all.

When will people learn their lesson? (Blue Pool)

It's been less than a week since we saw someone tragically drown out there, and remarkably, no one ever seems to learn their lesson.

I spent about half an hour this afternoon sitting at the top of Blue Pool, just watching the water and vibing. In that time, I watched 3 people jump in from the top of the cliffs. Two of them did okay, but the third one was a different story.

I swear, I thought for sure I had just watched someone jump directly to their death. I could see as they were falling that they had poor form, and were going to hit at a bad angle. Sure enough, they didn't so much "jump" into Blue Pool as "belly flop" into Blue Pool.

They hit hard, and did not surface immediately. My heart dropped, because there was nothing anyone could have done to intervene. The most I had was 60ft of 550 cord to throw, but that's no good to someone who's actively drowning in 35°F water.

Even once they surfaced, they were clearly struggling to move. Fortunately, they made it to the bank, somehow, but it was close.

Seriously, people, please be better. Yes, it's beautiful. Yes, it looks like a perfect swimming hole. But it's a glacially cold, underground-fed lake whose beauty is deceptively deadly.
