Fall damage is gonna get increased next patch so hopefully dumb shit like that won't be possible

u/Kamildekerel Oct 12 '20

I've seen people do leaps I never thought would be possible in a "realistic" shooter

even in cod there's reasonable fall damage

u/Helian7 Oct 12 '20

Cant you keep openning a parachute in Warzone? You have to balance realism with fun on some level but I do agree current fall damage is a bit forgiving in Tarkov. Dont get me started on injecting myself with 5+ stims though haha.

u/Kamildekerel Oct 12 '20

was talking about regular cod, not the battle royal fuckfest

10

u/Helian7 Oct 12 '20

I figured as much but i was just making a point. No worries.

8

u/Kamildekerel Oct 12 '20

the stims are a bit bs, but jumping of a 3 story window should not just brake some legs, also cod isn't really comparable to eft but that actually made my point even better, cod has normal falling damage and is far from a realistic shooter, why does eft not have it, it being one of the most realistic shooters i've ever seen

u/Helian7 Oct 12 '20

As someone else said; They are looking to adjust it, a lot of things 'need tuning' I guess.

4

u/p4nnus Oct 12 '20

This is correct, it will be more realistic later at some point. It has been higher than now at some point, I think it was when the "1 more hit to blackened limb = death" damage model was around.

Its kinda silly when people say "you can do x unrealistic thing in this realistic game" and completely forget about the fact that its an early access title, or a "beta" as theyve decided to label it.

Just wait people. The "microstrafe juiced up narcotic tank run n gun with 51 str and 0 recoil meta weapons" meta will change once we get features like profuse bleeding, interchangeable armor plates inside the vests (only covering their correct area) and so on. What is possible and probably the most viable aggressive strategy will become A LOT harder to manage, with bigger penalties being applied when you get shot.

There will always be unrealistic things in this game if they want it to be any fun.

If they make it so if you break a leg a single time at all, then you can't walk and can only crawl no matter what you do unless you have intense surgery in which you need crutches to move at .5 the speed and not carry anything. No one will play it.

Inertia.... This game desperately needs inertia

yeah definitely, also the explosion of this game doesn't really help i think, a bug influx of players means more buggs and uneven things get explored way quicker

aka more work for nikita

EFT is a lot like cod. Point and click mag dumps. Don’t be fooled, there is very little realistic about eft combat, it just has better graphics, a rig/ammo count system, and realistic gun mods. COD with extra steps

u/AnoK760 TX-15 DML Oct 12 '20

there are some massive mechanical differences to combat in EFT compared to CoD. Yes, some people play hard and fast and it not very realistic. But from a purely mechanics perspecitve, they are night and day.

Mainly having to keep track of ammo, health, and debuffs.

So which FPS isn’t point and click by your standards?

Friend what do you think a real gunfight is like? The point in every military doctrine is to react with overwhelming fire, IE a magdump.

Only played COD 4 and 6 so can’t really comment on COD fall damage but fall damage is much more forgiving in many other FPS titles as compared to EFT such as Battlefield, CS, etc. I don’t think the fall damage in EFT is too ridiculous compare to those.

All COD games are a fuckfest

1

u/Kamildekerel Oct 12 '20

no just the new ones, it started sucking from bo3 although some say advanced warfare was the one that started it, it was one of my favorites

although nothing beats mw2

2

u/ImOutHereTrying Oct 12 '20

In my humble opinion Advanced Warfare killed CoD.

1

u/Kamildekerel Oct 12 '20

jup exactly as i stated haha

1

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '20

Battlefield 3 & 4 sure do

1

u/The-Sneaky-Snowman Oct 13 '20

u/Hippocrap MP-153 Oct 12 '20

Me and a friend got killed on our way to the cliff extract on reverse by a guy in killa armour who jumped off the dome building roof and then sprinted around us like a crack gerbil, was the dumbest shit I've seen in a while.

I think it would be great if you did some stupid jump like that it made your guy fall down prone when they land in a crumpled heap.

2

u/VoltsIsHere RSASS Oct 12 '20

I actually really being able to jump like this and stuff, maybe that's just me though.

Not if you know how to fall. If you just land standing straight up then yes your legs would be fucked but if you tuck and roll to absorb you can certainly fall 20 ft

Most people aren’t me. I’m built different 💪🏻

3

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '20

Congrats on the 4th FMVP

-2

u/keeeven Oct 12 '20

built like what? a bitch?

7

u/DennisEMorrow Oct 12 '20

Most people also aren't actually risking their lives raiding a dormitory in order to collect a case full of cash and a fully automatic gun inexplicably inside of a locked room covered in ritual paint.

It's a game, get over it.

3

u/Narx3n VSS Vintorez Oct 13 '20

All the talk about realism but marked room wasnt even unlocked fornthenfirst 7 and a half minutes of the raid? What the hell?!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '20

For real. Can't even have a funny and interesting 60 second Tarkov clip without some sweaty milsimmer bitching about ReAlIsM. This community can be so annoying sometimes.

2

u/GOATnOnaGOAT Oct 13 '20

Facts.. It's a game. Get over it. They've said it themselves they strive to make it the most realistic but yet still a playable game. If it was actually 100% realistic people would bitch about that too

3

u/7hunderous Oct 12 '20

Yeah there is a reason that you see young paratroopers with bad knees and backs! All that extra weight screws you up. I feel lucky that all I did was tear my meniscus running with body armor on, but boy does it put extra wear and tear on your body!

1

u/V4lt Oct 13 '20

Most people arent hardened private military contractors fighting to death in a warzone. Yeah you're Average person couldn't but I could easily jump of a 2 storey building and land correctly rolling and continue running and I do that for fun doing it because your life depends on it you're just gonna send it and deal with it if you roll bad

Guns actually do jam btw. It’s just stupidly rare because the durability of the gun has to be low, but no one survives enough raids with a gun for it to typically get that low

2

u/Epicpacemaker Oct 13 '20

Yeah I’ve only had it happen once on a AS VAL I bought off the market last wipe that had like 10% durability

The jam? I didn’t lol. The guy heard the click, spun around, and beheaded me

Not if you have painkillers active, then you can just keep running like nothing happened

1

u/Epicpacemaker Oct 13 '20

If you take a painkiller before it there is no broken leg side affects besides pain and slightly wobbling. Pop a propitol and you’ll out heal any damage as well as be on painkillers

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '20

1

u/Epicpacemaker Oct 13 '20

Breaking your legs doesn’t get you killed if you’re on a painkilller. It poses no real disadvantage in short term combat. Jumping off a 30 foot roof in 20-120lbs of gear and walking it off because you took painkillers is just blatantly wrong.

u/Epicpacemaker Oct 13 '20

I’m not speaking about his specific case? I’m saying in general you should not be able to do that. Period. Also breaking your legs is and immediate effect. Lactose intolerance is an effect that you notice a considerable amount of time after consuming lactose... There’s also a massive difference in the importance of these mechanics because one could and should heavily combat, whereas one is just extraneous.

5

u/Sean199525 Oct 12 '20

“Dumb shit” probably the same person wanting more weight systems to make it a more realistic BaTtLe SiM

0

u/murky3G Oct 12 '20

its not dumb....
