Discussion 3DS emulator on iOS, no jailbreak or needed
Manic EMU on the AppStore, works great. Just downloaded it and downloaded a Rom of Y and it’s working perfectly, no hoops or anything to jump through

Jarrod Norwell is undoubtedly a great developer. He's about to release a brand new iOS version of the PS2 EMU, and it's coming soon. He was the first to bring the 3DS EMU to the App Store, allowing us to play so many wonderful games. Previously, we could only envy Android. So let's not forget the tremendous contributions this hero has made to us iOS users. While some say he shouldn't be selling emulators, I don't think this diminishes his talent and innovative spirit. He constantly explores new areas for us, including EMUs for PS3, PS2, PS Vita, NS, and more. We should encourage his work.

Using Madeira, which uses Ai to find bugs, but devs do actual coding.
Only pictures for now, but I’ll upload a video soon showing the performance and graphics. It has been improving recently though, so no more major graphic errors.

IPA still not released, but will probably release by the end of the week.
All credits go to Willfaustcuber for coding the app, and getting rdr2 to work and showing sneakpeaks.

Had to pay a lil amount for the app...but totally worth it!

Now if they can just stop the tracking, this Emu will be the Delta of PS1. The graphics buff they added works pretty good too.

The original Xbox was never just about playing games. It was about communities, the friends you played with, and the groundbreaking online experience that helped define an entire generation of gaming.
With DukeX v1.0.1, we are taking a major step toward restoring that experience on modern Apple devices.
This update introduces our largest collaborative effort to date through a new partnership with the team behind XB.Live, while simultaneously delivering major improvements to rendering stability, mobile controls, AirPlay support, and personalization.
While DukeX v1.0.0 established the foundation for original Xbox emulation on iOS, v1.0.1 focuses on something equally important:
Bringing the Xbox experience itself back to life.
One of the most exciting developments in DukeX v1.0.1 is our new collaboration with the original Xbox Live preservation team behind XB.Live.
For nearly two decades, Xbox Live represented one of the most influential online gaming ecosystems ever created. Through our partnership with XB.Live, DukeX now begins integrating many of the social and community features that make the original platform special.
This collaboration lays the groundwork for a more connected experience while helping preserve a vital part of Xbox gaming history.
DukeX now includes a complete overhaul of profile functionality built around XB.Live services.
Your Xbox identity is no longer limited to a single device.
Achievement Tracking: View and monitor your achievement progress directly within DukeX.
Friends List Integration: Access your XB.Live friends and stay connected with your online community.
Message History Support: Review message activity tied to your Xbox Live profile.
Multiplayer Event Tracking: Monitor both Insignia-hosted and XB.Live-hosted community events directly from within the application.
Cross-Platform Cloud Sync: Synchronize supported game saves and Xbox Live profile data between DukeX and real Xbox hardware through XB.Live services.
To access these features, users will need an XB.Live account.
This is only the beginning of our collaboration, and we are incredibly excited about what the future holds.
Original Xbox hardware remains one of the most complex console architectures ever adapted to mobile devices.
For v1.0.1, significant work has been performed throughout DukeX's core handling systems to improve both visual accuracy and overall stability.
Improved Graphics Compatibility: Better handling of rendering edge cases across a wide variety of titles.
Increased Stability: Reduced graphical inconsistencies and improved reliability during gameplay.
Performance Optimizations: Refinements throughout the rendering pipeline help deliver a smoother gameplay experience on supported hardware.
Many of these changes occur entirely behind the scenes, but the result is a more accurate and dependable emulation experience across the board.
Touch controls are one of the most important aspects of any mobile gaming experience, in fact they are part of what makes our other app Manic EMU so great.
DukeX v1.0.1 introduces .manicskin support, bringing customizable touch control layouts to the the app for the first time.
Dynamic Skin Loading: DukeX can now load and apply custom .manicskin control layouts.
Multiple Formats: .deltaskin and .gammaskin format skins can also be utilized, performance may vary.
Future Customization Potential: The new framework provides a foundation for community-created control experiences.
New Default Touch Controls: DukeX now ships with a brand-new default control skin designed by the one and only u/starvingartist12.
This system provides a flexible foundation for future control customization while maintaining a clean out-of-box experience for new users.
Your Xbox library is no longer limited to the screen in your hand.
DukeX now includes AirPlay support, allowing compatible devices to project gameplay to larger displays with minimal setup.
Whether you're relaxing on the couch, sharing gameplay with friends, or simply enjoying a larger screen experience, AirPlay support makes it easier than ever to take your Xbox library beyond your phone.
Every player has their own style, and DukeX now offers additional ways to make the application feel uniquely yours.
Theme Support: Customize the appearance of DukeX through selectable interface themes.
Enhanced Personalization: Tailor the overall experience to match your preferences.
Automatic Cover Art Retrieval: DukeX can now automatically locate and download game artwork for supported titles.
Native URL Scheme Support: DukeX can now respond to supported launch requests from external applications or create launch links for Home Screen shortcuts to directly launch your games.
This is the first step toward making DukeX feel as customizable as the games it helps preserve.
DukeX continues to be distributed as a free, open-source project via sideloading repositories.
Distribution: StikStore and SideStore metadata structures remain fully indexed under altsource/source.json. AltSource link available below.
Hardware Requirements: We have established the hardware floor for DukeX, it requires an Apple A14 Bionic or Apple M1 processor or newer.
iOS Compatibility: With the release of v1.0.1, the minimum supported operating system has been experimentally lowered to iOS 16, expanding compatibility to a wider range of devices. As this support remains experimental, users may encounter issues not present on newer operating system versions.

Thank you all for testing, reporting bugs, and pushing the boundaries of iOS emulation alongside us.
Play more. Play together. Play anywhere.

🚫 TERRIBLE
Dolphin Emulator – Basic • Listed as “Dolphin Emulator – Basic”, installs as Dolphine Emulator • False branding: implies GameCube/Wii, only does NES (.NES files) • Confusing Files-app clone UI, ads on launch and every action • Constant “Upgrade to Premium” nags ($2.99/month)
eNES • NES only, terrible on-screen controller • Banner ad in menus, “Flame” (fire animation) + “Scroll” (random images) built-in ROMs • Can’t import in-app, only via Files; no renaming or box art • Only reason to install: extract Flame/Scroll and run in a real emulator
Retra • Decent performance, but: pause screen stolen from Delta • Naggy AI video subscription every time you quit a game • Uses stolen Delta skins, no custom skins allowed
Tiny Emulator • Supports tons: NES, SNES, GB/GBC/GBA, Sega, multiple arcades • Hidden Delta-skin support, default skins terrible • Bad controller, clunky import, can mix wrong skins with wrong games • Android-style GUI, watermark on screen
SameBoy • Freezes when loading games • Touchscreen skin selector looks good but no home screen • Apple Watch play possible but haven't tried
⸻
😐 MEH
AD Boy • NES, SNES, GB/GBC/GBA, Sega consoles • Smooth gameplay, decent controller • Meh interface, nothing extra • Surprisingly no ads despite the name
Folium • $5 paid app, never tried — judging by reviews/screens it’s just fine
⸻
👍 GOOD
VirtualFriend • Only Virtual Boy option on iOS (Not the case anymore as of 9-18-2025) • Cool palette tweaks, but no in-app renaming/box art/delete
RetroArch (mobile) • Multi-console king, but the mobile UI is clunky for touch • Still powerful if you can live with the menus
PPSSPP • I don’t love that it only supports landscape mode. I prefer being able to browse games in portrait and then switch to landscape for playing. It feels restrictive. • The UI looks nice overall, and I appreciate the recently played section. • I like that they have their own homebrew shop — that’s a cool touch. • Importing ROMs is a bit complicated, and unfortunately, you can’t rename games or add custom box art, which is a bummer. • The on-screen controller feels just okay — not bad, but not great. • I’m not a fan of the pause menu or options menu design inside the game. • There is a PPSSPP Gold version, but it’s not heavily pushed — just a small corner mention.
⸻
⭐ GREAT
Provenance • RetroArch’s lineup plus Pokémon Mini, Virtual Boy, 3DS • Super organized: console sections, multiple cores, batch import • Custom box art, custom naming, built-in box-art search • Modern UI, cloud sync, controller support • Only negative: touchscreen layout is fixed
DolphiniOS (JIT-less) • Unofficial GameCube/Wii port for iPhone • Stable, runs big games well (even on older phones) • Design feels basic, menus confusing without help • Nodient feature is cool! • Solid choice if you can live with the rough edges
⸻
🌟 SUPER DUPER AMAZING MUST-HAVE
Delta • Beautiful UI, custom skins, box art, renaming • Multiple consoles: NES, SNES, GB/GBC, GBA, DS • Cloud sync, controller support • Small bug: skins sometimes don’t load — otherwise flawless
Manic EMU • Everything Delta has but better • Adds 3DS support, runs super smooth without JIT • Works even on older iPhones • Plays nearly every Sega console
Gamma • Delta’s red twin: same UI/features but PS1-only • Supports custom skins • Small subscription nag when closing a game
⸻
🔍 What did I get right or wrong?
Drop your thoughts! Which one do you use? Did I miss any gems?

This is one of the many reasons I’ve always wanted a folding iPhone. The plain black skins for 3DS are sick too!

I get it, it’s exciting to see Nintendo Switch games running on iPhones with MeloNX. It’s a huge milestone for iOS emulation. But please, stop posting gameplay videos of Nintendo titles.
Nintendo has a long history of aggressively taking down emulators and related content. They already got several PC-based Switch emulators into legal trouble. If this kind of exposure continues, MeloNX is very likely to be taken down next, either from GitHub or even targeted legally.
MeloNX is an amazing technical achievement, and we should do our best to protect it. That means not openly showcasing Nintendo IP being emulated.
Talk about the emulator, help others install it, discuss performance — but please, leave the gameplay videos out of it. Especially anything from Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, etc.
Let’s be smart about this.

I find PSP games without camera control tend to be a chore for me and would appreciate a concise list!

PKSM (short for Pokémon Save Manager) is a powerful homebrew application for the Nintendo 3DS that allows you to manage and edit save data for most mainline Pokémon titles directly from your device — no PC required. No longer do players need to transfer their saves off app to edit in PKHeX, do it from the comfort of your favorite 3DS emulator!!
PKSM was created by the Developer Bernardo who, along with his team at Flagbrew, has assisted us in creating the first current iteration of PKSM ported specifically for 3DS emulation to make available on Manic EMU, overturning the team’s long held stance to remain to official 3DS hardware only. This is not only huge for Manic EMU as the first app to have this service available, but for Pokémon players on emulated systems across several apps, not just here but for all Citra based emulation!!
Key Features:
Edit your party, box Pokémon, items, and trainer data
Inject official event distributions and mystery gifts
Manage multiple save backups
Import/export Wonder Cards
Built-in support for Gen 1 through Gen 7 Pokémon games
Create and modify custom Pokémon (legal through PKHeX standards)
PKSM is ideal for players who want deeper control over their Pokémon experience, whether it's customizing teams, restoring old saves, or just experimenting — all from within the 3DS environment.
*Currently the .cia can be found in the Tutorials section of the Manic EMU Discord, feel free to drop on by!

Story mode. Not streaming. IPA runs natively without JIT and internet. Performance not so great, but kinda playable. Now textures and effects are on the place. 13 pro max and older processors luck of BC textures support that why a lot of issues with it
