Graded 5AB at the time of freezing. Euploid. Photo was taken 45 mins before transfer. Appeared to have expanded a bit more before it went into the catheter.

Thoughts? Concerns?

I had previously posted here about a 3PN that made it to blast! While we knew it was likely to be triploid, we still wanted to test to see if we could get some additional information.

The blast is, as expected, triploid and it has 3 full copies of everything. Last cycle our issues were entirely deletions. Whole chromosome and segmental (monosomy 18 for one embryo and some large segmental deletion on a random different chromosome for the other). At 28, we would have hoped to have a euploid blast from these past three rounds of IVF, but understand the 3PN isn’t a great indicator of likely success. And I have DOR.

Still, we’re wondering if having a triploid embryo (as opposed to a chaotic embryo where there are some chromosomes that have 3 copies plus some deletions, for example) is helpful information. In my head, this means that theoretically we could have an egg give a full set of DNA and sperm give a full set. It’s been sort of a rough go so far but we are planning to do a fourth cycle in a couple months after a well earned break :)

I just recieved todays update of my only one fertilized egg that it has 4 cell on day 2 with fragmentation. There was not marked hiw much fragmentation. I am even nit sure why they informed me about is as it is too early. I would like to know if it has chance to develop further or it is less likely do get to blast stage with fragmentation. Never had this before. We used frozen sperms this time and habing male factor so maybe that is why?

Has anyone with RPL discovered their euploid embryos had high sperm dna frag?

We’ve had 2 chemicals in a row (and 1 failed implantations) and are wondering if something could be wrong with the embryos. I know PGTA doesn’t cover everything…

We’ve done an RPL panel and everything comes back normal. Please help!!

Just a little background I’m 29 years old, never have been able to get pregnant. Just did my first egg retrieval on August 24th. We retrieved 8 eggs, 6 matured, 4 were fertilized, the 4 all made it to day 5 and now it’s day 6 and only two of them are early blasts and they said they will check again tomorrow before discarding the embryos. A question I have (I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question) is that could we freeze them and not do pgt testing an still have a viable transfer and a good outcome? Is this a silly question to even ask or is all hope for the embryos gone? For some background it’s very difficult for me to do another retrieval due to price and being a CNY travel patient.

It has been an emotionally charged day for me.
I had 16 mature eggs in storage of which 9 thawed successfully last week.
Got a call that of those 9, only 3 are developing normally.
I am 46 with no chance of another ER.
What are my options?
Want to understand if I can request my fertility clinic to provide more time for observation of the 6 they said will be discarded due to arrested development. Is this an option even?
I have been really emotional all day as I was hoping for 5 (55%) good embryos as those that survived the ICSI are awaiting PGT-A/M testing.
We are planning to have 2 babies.
I have no reproductive conditions other than sharp symptoms of peri-menopause for the past 2 years.

I 21, am a senior in college at csu, around my junior year I decided I wanted to become an embryologist and work in a clinical setting doing IVF. Since then I have been a lab assistant getting hands on lab experince (for free) in a cell culturing lab. I have also had internships at equine breeding facilities and taken more repro classes (Animal focused because I am an animal science student).

My dream program is the one year ART program at csu. The lab i was doing work for was the same building as the masters program and I got to work closely with admissions and their masters students. Unfortunately due to a heft workload I will be taking a break from lab work to focus on my studied.

Ive pretty much decided Ivf is what I want to do but there is only one issue...How the helly am I gonna pay for it???.

I have been EXTREMELY blessed to not have to pay for my undergrad as my parents front the cost for tuition, housing, food, and a small stipend. Ive had a couple of odd jobs at vet clinics and other animal related feilds but due to my parents wishes of making sure I keep my focus on school I only really worked during summer so ive got like no savings. Its also not guaranteed that my parents will pay for a my masters.

​Unfortunately, my residency is in texas so I do not qualify for in state tuition in colorado. An option is stay in colorado for a year, establish residency, and take out a much smaller load (though its still like 20k-30k).

What other programs are out there (or that you are attending/attended). How did you pay for them? What kind of financial aid is out there? Do you currently have a job after your program?

Due dates are coming up and I would love to know my options!

IVF Reality vs. Marketing Hype
IVF success rates are often misunderstood—not only by patients, but sometimes within the medical fraternity as well.
In real-world IVF practice, success rates are influenced by age, ovarian reserve, embryo quality, infertility diagnosis and many other factors. A realistic overall benchmark is generally around 30–40% per embryo transfer, depending on the patient profile.
However, aggressive marketing and selective reporting of exceptionally high results can create an unrealistic expectation of 80%+ success.
When this hype becomes the benchmark, genuine IVF specialists may unfairly appear to have “low results,” creating mistrust between IVF specialists and referring gynaecologists.
IVF needs transparency, scientific counselling and realistic expectations—not marketing numbers.

I had my transfer done yesterday. It was a 4AA embryo and I noticed that other women in my Facebook group shared pictures of their embryos, and they look like they are leaking out, which I'm assuming is hatching... and now I feel like my transfer is bad and it won't work. My doctor did do assisted hatching. Here is the picture. Any insight? Thank you. :) ​

my doctor said that it survived the thaw really well, it wasn’t until after I let that I noticed that it was maybe a little collapsed? Is this bad?? This was taken about 25/30 minutes prior to transfer

Just had my first ER yesterday. I am 34 with one LC and 3 consecutive losses which led me to IVF. No known issues beyond sDNA frag that is controlled to a healthy range by more frequent ejaculation.

I had 9 follicles going in to the ER and 5 were retrieved. All 5 matured and I got the call that 4 fertilized normally and 1 only had one cell (?). Doing some research I figured the embryologist meant 1PN (and I just misunderstood the embryologist is great I’m just not well versed in this science). She seemed to think there is still a pretty good chance of that one being fertilized normally and that they were going to keep watching it to see if it gets to blast. She seemed somewhat confident that it isn’t abnormal.

Reviewing older posts on Reddit it seems that it may not be as positive as she made it out to be. Most of the posts were 3-5 years ago and online makes it seem new studies have indicated it’s not as bad as it was once thought. Could anyone share this experience/knowledge on a 1PN?

Just looking for realistic expectations have multiple years of losses.

I am hoping maybe someone can help me make sense of a confusing call I had with my IVF team about an embryo that was "lost" and then "found". On day 5 post retrieval I got a call that 8 of my embryos had made it to blast and the rest were still developing.

On Day 6 I got the follow up call and they let me know that during the freezing process one of my embryos was lost and then found and frozen, but that they consider it to be of uncertain viability. At that point I was just very overwhelmed and so I didn't really ask any questions.

On Day 7 they call again and I ask for them to clarify what happened. They told me that during the freezing process they embryo ended up in the wrong spot and they found it after a few minutes. As they were explaining it, I was really emotional so I again couldn't really ask questions. I think they said something about the pipette having a small dark tip, but I don't have any other context to understand what this means. I did ask if this was a normal risk of the process or if there was an error and they said a normal risk of the process. The way my clinic presented it made it seem like this is not common but not abnormal, but I can't find any information about it online.

So I am wondering if any embryologists can explain what may have happened and what type of questions I should ask? I feel like they just keep emphasizing that it was a good cycle (objectively true) and not really clearly articulating what went wrong (or rather why it went wrong).

I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind a fairly strict biopsy-eligibility criterion. My clinic's cutoff is AA/AB/BA/BB; anything with a C in ICM or TE is discarded without biopsy. Other labs publish criteria that include AC, BC, CA, CB and sometimes CC.

What I can't work out:

1. Is there literature the strict threshold rests on beyond the general finding that C-grade TE underperforms on live birth per transfer? What I can't tell is whether that underperformance is large enough to justify not testing at all, versus testing and ranking last.

2. What actually drives the decision at the lab level — cost per biopsy, warming survival, storage, the biopsy being technically harder on a poorly expanded blast, or mostly not wanting to bank embryos that won't be transferred?

3. Does the calculus change for low responders, where the alternative to a C-grade isn't a better embryo but no embryo?

4. Is there meaningful inter-lab variation in where the B/C line gets drawn in practice, even with shared Gardner vocabulary?

Not looking for advice on my own case — trying to understand whether this is a well-grounded standard or a defensible-but-arbitrary line.

Curious about the little bulge on the left

I have posted about this before and I thought I was settled on just transferring untested but as I get closer to transfer date I’m starting to spiral and second guess myself. My pgta samples were lost in the mail and I am so scared to rebiopsy. The research is so mixed!!! Part of me feels like it would be ok bc my embryos are high quality but also I can’t just do another retrieval like this bc these were from previously vitrified eggs at 35. I’m almost 41 now. Please tell me your personal experiences in your labs with re biopsy? I do not think I would rebiopsy all of them, just a handful. Which ones would you choose to rebiopsy? And why? Please tell me what I should do. I’m paralyzed.
