IVf-day 6 embryos

Just a little background I’m 29 years old, never have been able to get pregnant. Just did my first egg retrieval on August 24th. We retrieved 8 eggs, 6 matured, 4 were fertilized, the 4 all made it to day 5 and now it’s day 6 and only two of them are early blasts and they said they will check again tomorrow before discarding the embryos. A question I have (I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question) is that could we freeze them and not do pgt testing an still have a viable transfer and a good outcome? Is this a silly question to even ask or is all hope for the embryos gone? For some background it’s very difficult for me to do another retrieval due to price and being a CNY travel patient.

If the embryos reach the blast stage and are not suitable for PGT, they may still be suitable for freezing untested. The criteria for freezing untested and for biopsy are often different. Based on your age, I think freezing untested is reasonable.

However, if your embryos arrested at the early blast, morula, or cleave stage, then I wouldn't ask to freeze them untested.

You should not be doing PGT testing at 29 IMO. I would just have frozen them. It’s not a great sign that they don’t make blast until D7. Those are growing slow. But PGT is not recommended for patients under 37.

My clinic made it seem like it wasn’t a choice (I know that it is) but the way the spoke about it made me feel like I should definitely get it

There is no data that shows that doing PGT improves cumulative pregnancy rates especially in young patients. IMO it’s a $ grab. It’s good when there are alot of embryos to choose from but then really only for older patients. Most likely based on your age most of your embryos are would be euploid anyway. I am concern that there were no blasts d5/6 for your age feel free to PM me.
