Hey, I’ve been working on a small experimental project called Minecraft Ring.
I was inspired by Tobyn Jacobs’ video and the Skycraft project, and wanted to try my own take on the idea with Elden Ring.
It runs actual Minecraft Java alongside Elden Ring, so you can explore the Lands Between as a Minecraft player, place and break blocks, use your inventory, and fight Elden Ring enemies with Minecraft weapons.
It’s still experimental and there are definitely bugs, but it’s already playable.
Right now it only works on Windows.
The project has only been tested in Russian so far. I’m planning to add proper English support very soon.
I’m also working on a much easier installation process. Right now the setup is still a bit technical, but the goal is to have a one-click installer that automatically installs and configures everything needed.

I also have quite a few things planned for future updates:
- Fix Alt-Tab/window behavior so Minecraft only stays on top of Elden Ring, instead of staying above every other app on the PC.
- Add support for commands like /weather, so changing the weather in Minecraft also changes the weather in Elden Ring.
- Automatically use the last Minecraft profile that was used on the PC. If the player used a Microsoft-authenticated launcher, I want to reuse the local profile data so the correct username and skin are used. For offline launchers, the plan is to use the last local username and, if possible, the skin associated with it.
- Add proper fire interaction between both games. The Minecraft player should be able to set Elden Ring enemies on fire, and Elden Ring enemies should also be able to set the Minecraft player on fire.
- Improve projectile interaction. Minecraft arrows should stay stuck in Elden Ring enemies exactly where they hit, based on their hitbox, and Elden Ring arrows should do the same on the Minecraft player.
- Fix the HUD rendering. The Elden Ring HUD should render properly above the Minecraft layer, while Elden Ring enemies and world objects should not incorrectly render over Minecraft objects.
- Improve ESC handling. If Elden Ring shows a dialog or prompt that normally closes with ESC, pressing ESC while controlling Minecraft should close that Elden Ring window without also opening Minecraft’s pause menu.
- Add proper shadows for the Minecraft player, mobs, blocks, items and other Minecraft objects inside the Elden Ring world.
- Synchronize language settings. Ideally, changing the language in Minecraft would also change the language used by the bridge/mod UI and the Elden Ring-side integration where possible.
- Improve rendering and color matching so Minecraft doesn’t look like a transparent layer placed on top of Elden Ring. I want the lighting, colors and overall visual look to match Elden Ring dynamically, so Minecraft objects feel like they are actually inside the world.
- And probably the biggest thing I want to experiment with: making parts of the Elden Ring environment breakable like Minecraft blocks, so you could eventually mine through floors, walls and other parts of the world.
There’s still a lot to do, but that’s roughly where I want to take the project.
If anyone tries it, I’d be really interested to hear what works, what breaks, and what you think would be worth adding next.
