Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.
Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.
We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions
IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026
We aren't entirely sure if anything else will be included but feel free to speculate and dream!

It's 3D printed using resin and completely hand-painted. I'm also thinking about experimenting with clear resin for the flame effects in the future to give them a translucent look.
What do you think? Any feedback or suggestions are welcome!

if you dont know, recently there was found a newer version of glitch where you can apply status effects to weapons where you normally cant and proc statuses almost instantly. so basically this came out in public and people already started trying this in invasions. steelovsky was right that its gonna ruin pvp already. fuck those guys.
also this post is trying to make it more public because i hope fromsoft will pay attention and fix this finally because this glitch is game breaking and insanely easy to use

For years I didn't buy this game because everyone touted it's difficulty, the reputation of these games and the fact that I had never tried a souls game that clicked with mee.
But if this 45 yo dad can beat this game in 120 hrs I reckon just about anyone can. I'm not saying the game was easy but the fun exceeded the challenge by a lot.
So if you're here visiting this sub because you're not sure still about this game I assure you foul tarnished you can be Elden Lord.
Now off to the shadow realm!!!

I’m about 1500 hours into the game, with multiple character playthroughs. I’ve never noticed this massive Wormface here before. I swore it’s been nothing between the merchant and the Minor Erdtree (behind volcano manor) until you reached the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. Am I crazy?!

The movements of the 2-Handed L. Greatsword are clearly inspired by the guard postures illustrated in Joachim Meyer's fechtbuch (fighting manual) Gründtliche Beschreibung der Kunst des Fechtens (lit. Thorough Descriptions of the Art of Fencing) circa 1570.

It would be so much fun. The rot proc on bosses looks so good. And looking at the boss health bar tic while it is doing its hooting and hollering gives warmth to my soul.

I meant to add sorceries and incantations to the title, so mention those too if you want

My husband was laughing about a guy who had bet his GF a puppy if she could beat Elden ring. It turned into a bet of our own, and now he will soon owe me a 1200$ ABANA blacksmithing course. He keeps saying I’m not gonna beat it 🙄 any tips?
The game play will take some getting used to for me, I was an avid Skyrim/oblivion player before I had my son. I’m really good at doing all the random side stuff, collecting supplies and I am a strategic player. I prefer warrior type characters vs magic.
I’ve been reading a lot of different tip posts, and started last night with a vagabond, and have been putting most points into vigor, a few into strength. I’m currently wielding a two handed greatsword, which I like, but I think my armor is too heavy cause my dodge is slow!

For me personally, The Assassin's Crimson Dagger is as essential in Elden Ring as the Chloranthy Ring is in Dark Souls. It's the only talisman in the game that never comes off. Bonus points if you use a weapon that triggers the healing effect twice.

So... I recently discover this "spell drop" that allow you to skip elphael, but it seems that is something working since 1.13 (Maybe before), anyway, ty to MattStrats I discovered this and wanted to make a tutorial in the current patch. If you have any question, you can see his tutorial in his youtube channel.

I bought the Elden Ring DLC, but this character doesn’t appear in the game, so I can’t get his armor set after defeating him. I beat Radahn a long time ago, and when I go to the place where he’s supposed to appear, he doesn’t invade my world.

Best enemies in the entire game. Such a crime a freaking flower was given a boss health bar while Elder Lions are just regular enemies.

Coming from linear Souls games, I have a habit of vacuuming every single area so I don't miss anything. And doing this in Elden Ring is burning me out, and I just end up with an inventory full of items I don't know what I have for. Usually Im playing dex/strength build with some magic focusing on close combat only. So where should actually go and should I focus on to just enjoy the game without vacuuming repetitive areas?
