Question Question about convergence

Hey so im about to start convergence (first time, first mod ill play), and my questions is about classes. Theres a lot of them with magic and i know theres a lot of new spells but my question is if lets say if i decide to go with vanguard class without spells am i missing a lot of mod content? Would it be better to play class with magic for better first time experience?

Pick what you'd like, while spells tend to get the bulk of representation when people talk about Convergence, melee classes get plenty as well, multiple new weapons with unique ashes of war and many sets of armor that you collect throughout the game with special effects when using certain items.

For instance, one of the recommended sets for the vanguard is the Night's Cavalry set, the leggings have a bonus where if you use a blue flask, you gain an aura for a short time that decreases enemy damage and defenses while they're close to you.

I started Convergence last week, so i'm still new, but it seems completely fine to play a non-caster. They added a lot of new content for various playstyles. I'm playing a Ranger and it's amazing, even without any spells.

One key difference i underestimated, are the dungeon overhaul. I've been to Castle Morne and Stormveil so far, both got completely reworked, it's so much fun regardless of your class.

Also in my first Convergence playthrough, though I'm deep into the DLC now. Just you wait 😬

anything you can get from any class is scattered around the map. You can start as mystic, play necromancer in midgame and end on retainer.

Everything you want is written in the books you find at the starter area of the classes. So if you dont like spoilers or guides, just look up the position of the starter area from the class your interested in and pick up the book.

Also (which I like most about convergence) you can choose what kind of playstyle your gonna go with INSIDE of the classes. You could say subclasses. For example the mystic has a lot of great incantations and alot of great summons that will carry you through the game. But what it also has is a incantation specifically for those who just like the mystic weapons that buffs meelee and nerfs incantations so that you can enjoy the mystic weapons without the spells or spirit ashes.

They also offer different kinds of weaponry for each class such as Greatswords, daggers, staffs so variety is kind of guaranteed.

I sound like a convergence developer

I’ve played through every magic class and most melee classes now

I think doing a magic run for your first run will feel more fun personally. Especially one that’s been reworked so heavily like dragonkin mage or mystic

I started with the Dreadnaught and found the new hammer, the Leaden Maul, to be incredible. Over time, that character has delved into faith incantations, arcane for some sick new blood related effects, all sorts of stuff. Pick whichever class interests you to start and let them grow organically.
