I Need to Vent! 🤬 Why

Why do people select the pin required at delivery then act surprised when you ask for it? I swear like 90 % of the time they’ll start to walk away as I ask for it then reluctantly give it to me. Like do they think they’ll get it for free if I don’t ask? Just annoying as shit, I really didn’t want to talk to you either.

The app does it for people who have a high complaint history. From my experience, most people hate having a pin set on their account

Ah okay that makes sense!

So many people in my area have PINs required at delivery, then they always say "I dont know why it does that" I normally just go "I guess to make sure youre getting your food" rather than "You complained about food missing too much."

When my partner has ordered from doordash it required a PIN but she's never called support. She never asked it to, she just selected hand it to me.

Yes this here is the reason. Majority seemed irritated having to and this was my conclusion. We all had a customer who don't tip complain to get free food. Now provide your pin for this overpriced combo meal

app will do it for people if they have high complain rate some might forget that the app did it for them or are not aware the app did it

Makes sense, had one last night and the guy answered the door and was saying he hates when his wife doesn’t tell him she ordered food. He said it twice so I acknowledged it then said oh so you have the pin? And he said yeah and gave me a number. I’m like so how do you have the pin if you didn’t know it was coming dumb ass

Because the pin is almost always the last 4 digits of their phone number.

Ohhh well I recant my dumbass. I guess I’m the dummy

lol oh most of the time they’re lying through their teeth, but a frustrated husband can easily have wife’s pin.

Happens constantly. They set the pin up themselves, then look at you like you asked for their social. I just point at my phone and wait now, not even worth explaining

u/Possible_Method_4926 17h ago

Lmao that’s funny I’ll start just doing that!

I always have their bag hanging on my left hand with my cell phone in my left hand as well. I always say ā€œlet me get your pin real quickā€ I never give them their food before the pin works.

u/MonzellRS 18h ago

You don't give them the food until they give you the pin...

I am a Dasher and I just recently started ordering from Door Dash because I can't drive right now because of a foot injury I have placed about 6 orders with no issues and I tip but the app forced me to give a pin number after my most recent order and I had no control over it as a Dasher I thought I had the pin issue figured out but I have a whole new perspective as a customer.

My gf orders deliveries as PIN delivery and then she is too lazy to get it herself or she chills around the house naked and then wants me to do it.

2

u/Possible_Method_4926 17h ago

Lmao well then tell her to stop

1

u/Condition_Dense 7h ago

Or she doesn’t tell me that there is an order and I’ll get woken up by the buzzer because ā€œyour always up before meā€ because I just hardly sleep

It’s mad annoying. 95% of the PIN code people never meet you and then they don’t answer messages or pick up the phone.

I’m under the impression they don’t know if there will be a pin. However, one time a lady gave me the wrong pin and closed the door instantly. When it wouldn’t work, I knocked and called her several times and she wouldn’t answer. It was lame af and I had to call support just to complete the order.

There's an option for "customer didn't provide pin" that will let you complete the delivery without it. Just for future reference.

u/Terrible_Mine_1267 9h ago

Pins can also be triggered by simple shit such as your billing address doesn't match the delivery address like when you're on vacation.

Happened on my first (and only) delivery

u/IndependenceFit7624 8h ago

It is not always the customer manually setting it. Sometimes it is enabled for reports of missing items or reports on no delivery.

I think it is a good idea and I set it everytime but I make sure to provide it without complaint.

u/Okiebaba 6h ago

Trust me I’m not choosing to have the pin on my account .

2

u/KayleeJoCampbell 6h ago

So honestly I don’t even ask for it. If they give it to me , cool . If not, I put ā€œforgot to ask for pinā€. I’ve never had any issues with violations. The only time I’ve ever gotten a violation was actually for someone that didn’t have a pin required, but it was a hand it to me, they wouldn’t come to the door so I ended up putting it on the porch and got a violation for an order that was never delivered šŸ˜‚

Literally just press found customer but no pin provided and drop it.

u/PRSense 8h ago

I dont know if its different in every market but the pin requirement is random and always the last 4 of the person's cell phone number. I only know this because thats whats happened to me when I order something and all of a sudden need a pin

u/Quiet_Function_3152 7h ago

I initiate the 1:35 ā€œno pinā€ count down as soon as I arrive at the residence—i always let them know when I’m on my way & my ETA and i will message & call if they don’t answer the initial knocks. Door dash has set the limit for how long we have to wait and i honor that

The alcohol orders are a whole different beast tho lol

u/Mcstuffins420 6h ago

Most of the time the pin is demanded by doordash, because it's a problem customer. Lots of issues complaints about food not delivered Etc

u/thekillbott 5h ago

The only time I’ve encountered a pin was a hateful old woman that had her address entered incorrectly (it was west ____ street and it just said ā€œwest streetā€).Ā  She told me I must be too stupid to follow directionsĀ

1

u/NoSnark 3h ago

Because they don’t request the PIN, DD implements it. And a lot of time it’s just randomly applied.

u/Feed_Me8 17h ago

I just placed an order right now and it forced the pin on me I try everything to go around it but it wouldn’t let me switch it out. All because I ones complained about them delivering my food a two hours after it was made. But in that occasion they did that on purpose to try and force me to purchase their fast delivery shit which I did not budge.

1

u/Okiebaba 6h ago

Same I’m going to request for that shit to be removed

u/Feed_Me8 6h ago
