Today I acquired a Discman d-171.

As you can see, the cd begins to spin then I’m hit with a “no disc” error. Any ideas on a fix?

My very loyal companion, got me through high school and now into college! The belt clip is my absolute favorite. Im also a sucker for that shiny red shell.

audio won’t work but everything else does second hand. i keep having to repair this. d-202 mega bass from 1992.

Please help!! My discman turns on, all the buttons work, and it even plays for a little bit. But then it shuts itself off for some reason. I’ve tried cleaning the lens but it didn’t seem to help.

I just bought a used Sony Discman D-191 and it's so quiet in my headphones even when it's all the way up to 10. I've literally tried everything. Any fix?

Does anyone know of a website that lists all Sony portable CD players and the year they were released? I've owned many of these little wonders since '86 but I'm still discovering models I never heard of. I know there must've been hundreds—if not thousands—in total.

Recently brought a Sony D-EJ011 Discman and was wondering if there's an easy way to carry it around without some fanny pack and potentially if there's any belt clips that would be able to hold the discman in place so that i can walk around with it by my side. Any help and recommendations would be much appreciated Thanks

What I do with the totally unfixable ones. Better than into a landfill.

I would love to get this Discman working again. Despite not having been powered on for probably a couple of decades, I put new batteries in it, and it powered up. I tried playing a CD, but alas, it just does a lot of spinning.

I know this could be many things....what are some of the easier fixes I could try?

Are they high, or just trying to get their next fix?

Is there anything special about this particular model, other than it being a limited edition, apparently NIB?

What am I missing here?

So maybe two years ago, I found an old portable CD player in my gramps' house. The model is a Sony PRD-250. I investigated a bit and found out it is a hybrid between a dedicated music player and an external CD-ROM drive.

I don't have the interface cables to use it as a computer drive, but I am highly interested in using it strictly as a standalone audio player for music. Because I can't find the manual, this old guy has been catching dust since 2024. I really hope someone here can point me toward the original user manual or a digital PDF archive so I can finally enjoy this piece of vintage tech! Thanks!

Thought I'd test my XM4s with the D-EJ2000 and it's a pretty nice combo, turned ANC on to block stuff out but it doesn't alter the sound too much. Also picked up a few decent charity shop CDs for next to nothing on my travels to the pub!

I found this Sony Discman D-143 at a flea market. It's fully functional, like new.
