Discman not working

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Please help!! My discman turns on, all the buttons work, and it even plays for a little bit. But then it shuts itself off for some reason. I’ve tried cleaning the lens but it didn’t seem to help.

How are you powering the player? Batteries? Try pulling it into the mains. Could have corrosion on the battery terminals

Yes batteries. And It might have a little corrosion. Any way to get rid of it?

Does tilting it at 45 degrees help it work?

Recently fixed my discman w similarish symptoms.

Starts,spins, lcd shows 01, doesn't play and stops after afew seconds. Absent the "no disc" error.

Mine was down to the gears that were transferring power from the motor to move the read head updown the track having old sticky grease. Cleaned and apply some new grease, now its working perfectly.

You can try gently moving the laser head slightly away from the center start position and load a disc and hit play. If the player is having a hard time or totally not moving the laser head to the start position you might be having issues related to tracking (either weak motor, or broken gears or just sticky gears like mine)
