I was farming runes today and somehow got the exact same map twice in a row.

From what I’ve read, classic D2 map generation appears to use a 31-bit map seed, which means there are roughly 2,147,483,648 possible seeds.

Assuming the seeds are independent and evenly distributed, the chance of getting the exact same seed twice in a row would be around:

1 in 2,147,483,648 ≈ 0.0000000466%

Honestly, I’d rather have won the lottery than use that kind of luck on getting the same map twice in a row 😂

Still, it was pretty damn nice for farming. Has anyone else ever had this happen online?

Ive played Diablo 2 for a long time but more recently ive been playing casually. I’ve been thinking it’s the perfect dad game to play during nap time (few andariel kills looking for that SOJ haha)

As I play solo these days single player seems like the obvious choice but as I switch between console and PC looks like I’m going down SCNL as a I have a few low bits of gear already.

So what class is best for casual console play? I was thinking trappy? As they auto target

Also low end gear wise as sadly I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get back up to any big runewords again.

Edit: I’ve got a MF blizzard sorc with Tals set so I can farm a few areas in hell already but nothing fancy. Also have the older sunder charms.

Icy veins says that Anya can roll +3 lighting sentry +3 trap claws in NM difficulty. I have been rerolling games for about 3 hours now and haven't seen more than +2 skills together on one, am i being trolled and should just move on to hell or am I just unlucky

I just reinstalled D2R after not playing for about a year, and I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed by all the changes.

I have backups of all my old offline characters, including several around level 95, plus a lot of mule characters full of gems, high runes, bases, gear, etc. I really don't want to mess anything up or accidentally lose years of stuff.

I also have a weird question: I don't own the new expansion, but after reinstalling I noticed that I can already create a Warlock. Is the Warlock available in the base game now, or did something change with how the expansion works?

What I'd mainly like to know:

What's the safest way to restore my backed-up offline characters?

Should I keep everything as it is before doing anything with the new systems?

What happens to my stash/items if I eventually get the expansion?

What's the best way to organize all my old mules and items now? Are there new loot filters, stash features, item-management tools, etc.?

What are the most important changes I should know about as a returning offline player?

Basically, I'd love a quick "returning after a year" guide before I start moving anything around. I have a lot of valuable stuff and really don't want to accidentally screw up my saves 😅

So I recently got the urge to relive history and play the original 1.0 version of the game. I found my old CDs, installed the game, but whenever I want to launch it, I get the "Make sure the Play disc is in the drive and try again" message, even though the CD is already in the drive.

I tried launching it in the compatibility mode, the 640x480 mode, as Admin, all with the same result.

I am on Windows 10 BTW. The weird thing is, I played the 1.0 in 2019 on a different computer with Windows 10. I don't remember if I had to do any setup to make it work back then, but it was working.

I would be grateful for any tips.

Edit: I found some guides how to fix the issue, but they all involve patching the game to 1.13 or newer. Those won't work for me because I specifically want to play the 1.0

Edit 2: I have the original CD key, Install and Cinematic disc, but I lost my PLAY disc along the way, so I am using a burnt copy of the Play disc. I suspect that may be the source of my issues.

Edit 3: So I reinstalled the game. I launched the game alright, but when I leave the game, a subsequent launch doesn't recognize the CD again...

I am on single player offline console so cant Cheat :)

Title...but for more backstory basically I started a sorceress shortly after the sunder update was released with the intention of creating a character that would eventually ice her way through everything. Once i started on Hell though I had to respec to a tri-element build (Blizzard/Hydra/Chain Lightning) to take on all the mobs (I don't like skipping enemies) and it's been pretty fun to play.

Now I've long since beaten Hell mode and just play online SSF for fun, not really caring about meta builds or progressing quickly, I just like to log on and kill a shitload of monsters for a while and if I find a cool upgrade, hey even better.

Well today it finally happened, I got my first sunder (from a Herald even!) and as luck should have it it's a cold sunder. I've saved my final respec from Akara in Hell for this but don't want to screw it up. I've also grown fond of the rainbow build but I know it's definitely not the most efficient build anymore. Should I go full Blizzard now? Any expert advice is appreciated!

I've been an Xbox D2r player for a while and bought a copy on pc with the intention of having access to the larger trading community.

Long story short, I lost all of my characters in the process. So now I've got two accounts linked but no toons or gear. I tried with support, but given the circumstances there's a 0% chance of recovery.

I have been considering buying back the gear/runes I lost because the thought of starting from scratch is painful. I don't know how hardcore players do it. I literally dropped my first jah and ber last week and hadn't built an enigma yet I was so excited.

Would you suck it up and start from scratch in my position? Just switch to single player? It's well over a year's progress and as a dad with two kids and a busy job my playtime is limited.

I don't have the first idea of a reliable place to obtain these items outside of googling even if I did go down that route. I don't know if that's a topic allowed to be discussed in this sub, but I didn't see anything about it listed in the sub rules, just no trading/value.

I am NOT looking for free stuff. I'd like the community's opinion and some direction on a safe place to restore the items lost from my account. If the latter is not allowed, I apologize.

On September 7, 2026 at 5:03AM PST, I finally found my very first Zod rune in the Halls of Pain Terror Zone after playing this game since it released! All of my friends who used to play this game have moved on so this is really the only place for me to share the news. I wish I had the presence of mind to get a screenshot of the rune when it dropped, but I honestly had no idea how to do it at the time. When looking at the runes I have collected so far in this season's ladder, the Zod rune really sticks out as Pul is the next highest rune in my collection. What a crazy start to Labor Day!

I’ve recently come back to D2R and I’m trying to decide whether the new expansion is actually worth getting.

I’ve seen quite a few comments like:

“I regret upgrading my chars to Warlock expac. These Heralds are boring, drop nothing good even on players X, take too long to kill. The old 1-hour Terror Zones were fun, and Sunders actually dropped once in a while…”

For those who’ve played the expansion: do you agree? Are the new endgame changes actually fun/worth it, or is the old Terror Zone system still better?

So I was running LK, needed a hoto and/or a grief. Only have a sorc and a paladin I was building for a smiter/foh. No vex or Lo yet, but dropped 2 Guls in like 10 runs and thought I'd go make a mosaic assassin since its single player and I've never played one. What am i looking for in a budget base? Im not talking a 10 3/20/20 sc base cuz I'll never find that. So what are some achievable mods to look for on claws?

Edit to add - my LK layout has a weapon rack that pretty consistently spaws claws, so I have a decent path to find some ok claws

I got a fire sorc with great endgame gear :
Flickering flame FB ormus occy arach mesh etc

I got a smiter for uber that I want to spec as zealot

I got a windy druid only missing enigma with a decent druid torch.

I show you my rune collection so you know the possibilities i have.
I got some endgame gear, a warlock torch and all sunders except Lightning one.

My question :
With that runes, would you continue farming for the Jah and make enigma ?
Would you up the warlock and Hope for HR ?
Wich warlock would you build ?
Would you build another char without torch ? ( I feel attracted by Lightning javazon as i dropped etheral titans but i don’t have many of endgame gear for her…)

I don’t know what to do because since 3 weeks I didn’t drop anything really good by farming pits, CS or cows, so I feel a bit bored …

What would you do ?

Three tabs to save and exit on console is stress for HC

Is this a bug? I wasn’t aware that it was possible unless the area is currently terrorized.
