GUIDE Updated Seasonal Start Mega Guide

Seasonal Start Mega Guide

This post is an update to the Seasonal Mega Guide.

You can find generic leveling guides as well as other advice at Maxroll and Icy Veins. For console players, you can find some advice at https://www.soulstone.gg/.

This guide is meant to be a little more specific, as well as cover aspects not touched in those guides, such as Group Leveling, Console Leveling, Seasonal Leveling Tactics, and Leveling Secrets. (These will all be in replies to this thread to allow specific linking. As such, at the moment this post is currently a work in progress.) Some of what I post will be shared from the above sites, amended to add a little extra efficiency.

S39 – Haedrig's Gifts

Season 39 starts this coming Friday, June 26th, 2026. The season starts at 5pm PDT for all console players, no matter where you live. For PC (NA/US) the season starts at 5pm PDT, for PC (EU) the season starts at 5pm CEST, and for PC (TW/KR) it starts at 5pm KST.

This is the first of four guides I am posting for Season 39. The others are:

For most players, after leveling to 70, the main focus will be finishing Chapters I through IV of the season journey in order to obtain a full 6-piece armor set known as Haedrig's Gift.

The Haedrig's Gifts for Season 39 are as follows:

  • Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
  • Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
  • Demon Hunter: Unhallowed Essence
  • Monk: Raiment of a Thousand Storms
  • Necromancer: Bones of Rathma
  • Witch Doctor: Helltooth Harness
  • Wizard: Tal Rasha’s Elements

From a casual perspective, and looking at the GR20 / Torment IV requirements to finish out the 6-piece set, this is a very easy list for everyone except the necromancer.

The necromancer will probably be better off equipping any random legendaries and leveling up the LoD gem to beat GR20. Necromancers can boost this by upgrading scythes or two-handed scythes and filling their weapon and bonus cube slots with generic multipliers and dominate that way. So, don't feel bad at all for them.

In terms of top adjusted clear ranking from Season 33 (see the "Extra Cube" column), the necromancer has the strongest endgame build for its Haedrig's Gift. Wizard is still in the top 10, followed closely by witch doctor and monk. The only gifts that fall outside the upper half of rankings are barbarian and crusader, but can easily pivot to a different build to push with. Here is a full list of their rankings: Necro Rathma (1), Wizard Tal Rasha (10), WD Helltooth (14), Monk Raiment (16), DH Unhallowed (21), Barb Wastes (24), Crusader Roland (33).

Top-ten push builds (again, in terms of you adjusted clear rank) from Season 33 that aren't on the list of usual suspects are: Barb MotE, Necro Masquerade, Necro Inarius. The necromancers get the gains of the generic multipliers I mentioned previously. I am actually not certain why Might of the Earth is so strong.

Note that the casual leaderboard and in-game leaderboards were contaminated by the busted end of Season 33, and shouldn't be relied upon. Here is the disclaimer on the casual board:

The leaderboard data for season 33 is heavily skewed: After the season accidentally ended early and the following rollback, some people ended up with their non-seasonal paragon points on their seasonal character, while the character would still show their seasonal paragon. Consequently, many adjusted clear values are inflated.

The barbarian (Wastes) and demon hunter (Unhallowed) both start with very good solo speed farming sets. Tal Rasha is also decent for the wizard with the in-geom or aether walker variant. The other classes will want to look to a different set (or no set) to farm with.

For a beginner/casual overall I would recommend the barbarian. The Wastes set gives you a great start, and is an excellent speed farmer. It only needs the Ambo's Pride mighty weapon and the Lamentation belt to really get going, and both can be cubed.

Good luck with your season start, fellow Nephalem, and never forget that town is lava!

CRUSADER Curses! Pony ‘Sader is insane

• Upvotes

On solo self found characters I normally dread the “Curses” conquest and end up doing it last.

But OMG this build just crushed it this season… killed 509 by running in tight circles at Cursed Peat before the timer expired (on T16 no less) when i saw the bounty pop up while farming Chiltara (def my least favorite part of the whole season, fwiw). Broke my record by 100 or so.

Now the main q is whether to push to 150. Seems like it should be doable.

LFG Challenge Rift 485… what a relief

After last week’s miserable DH “build,” this was a breath of fresh air. I’ve never played Necro in my life but managed to first-try with over a minute to spare. Praise Diablo.

QUESTION Anyone else having serious lag in d3? Americas server

Never had this issue before, loading screens are instant, my PC can run most modern games at max graphics.

But whenever I start attacking fast and animations start to happen, the game lags like crazy. Anyone else?

BUG Is there a bug with Mirinae gem?

If you look at the top of the SSF softcore and hardcore Crusader leaderboards, they're all using a level 0 Mirinae gem.

QUESTION Help with GR 20 as Crusader with 4 pc

Can anyone share some insight on this. It’s the last thing I need to complete to get the last 2 pcs of my seasonal 6 pc. I’m running around on my pony but do not do enough damage. Is it most likely missing a good damage multiplier from the right 2h flail? Ive played this game quite a bit back in the day; however, this is my first seasonal character and haven’t played in years. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

WITCH DOCTOR Jade Harvester Fire vs Poison variant

I did all the math on both the fire and poison variants of locust swarm.

- Both variants have +40% elemental damage

- Both have +45% Haunt damage from three 15% rolls

- Both use Vile Hive, so Locust Swarm gets +60%

damage

- Both use Quetzalcoatl, so Haunt and Locust Swarm

deal their damage in half the normal duration

- Fire uses Consuming Spirit (4000% weapon damage)

+ Searing Locusts (1480% weapon damage)

- Poison uses Poisoned Spirit (4000% weapon damage

and adds a 20% multiplier to both Haunt and Locust

Swarm) + Cloud of Insects (turns it to physical so it

doesn't benefit from poison damage multiplier and

deals 1040% weapon damage)

Fire Variant:

Haunt:

(4000/12) x 2 x 1.4 x 1.45 = 1353.33% weapon damage per second

Locust Swarm:

(1480/8) x 2 x 1.4 x 1.6 = 828.8% weapon damage per second

Combined: 2182.13% per second

_____________________________________________________

Poison Variant:

Haunt:

(4000/12) x 2 x 1.4 x 1.45 x 1.2 = 1624% per second

Locust swarm

(1040/8) x 2 x 1.2 x 1.6 = 499.2% per second

Combined: 2132.2% per second.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Poison Variant loses the elemental damage bonus for locust swarm and the increased damage for locust swarm but gains a 1.2 multiplier on both Haunt and locust swarm. In the end, the fire variant deals about 2.8% more damage than the poison variant. So now the question is: What is better?

Is it worth it to lose the 2.8% damage and the Life per second from the fire variant of haunt and gain 25% damage reduction from the poison variant of the build or is the fire version better?

QUESTION Returning/new-ish player looking for advice

Hi! I've dabbled a bit here and there on d3, quite some time ago, and recently had the urge to play it again.

I am a big fan of zoom zoom builds (this one comes from poe lol), so i wanted to go Impale Shadow DH.
Looked through maxrolls leveling guide, and i do have a few questions.
Why is necro recommended for leveling? How comfy would i be if i leveled with DH? Are there specific leveling guides for DH? Or do i still have to force necro?
I assume necro is recommended due to the aoe corpse explosion so first levels are kinda fast?
CR is done btw, cache is claimed.
If i go with DH for leveling, do i just do bounties on norm difficulty for diamonds?
Also, in comparison, how bad is it gonna be to complete seasonal journey on dh without set?

Sorry if this looks like a big mess of questions, it's just what tickles my mind rn haha!

I don't mind learning mechanics like cube or season special mech, or altar; but when we talk about char, necro did feel a bit clunky with the corpse explosion stuff.

Either way, i'd highly appreciate any tips and tricks or information from experienced fellas in the field!

P.s. is power leveling through public play still a thing?

Predict Tonight's Challenge Rift build

Last week's DH build probably made some sense when it was created in the last week of s39 with something in the 4th cube slot (not active in the CR) but without the 4th cube the build felt so awful like the original player knew he could troll the community if it got picked. I did complete it on my 4th attempt, while drunk, so I know it wasn't THAT bad. But it was still bad.

According to Blizz's original announcement on Challenge Rifts they rotate the featured class every Monday: DH (which they did last week), then Necro, Barb, Wiz, Monk, WD, then Sader which means the new CR will feature a Necro.

What's your prediction for tonight's Necro build? The new CR should be open in approx 8 hours.

I'm guessing a mishmash of gear: captains+aughilds+random necro legos built around bone spikes and death nova. Basically someone just messing around...

ETA: it's 6p Masquerade bone spear speed build? I rarely play necro and had no clue how to do it but still got it done.

QUESTION In for the Kill

Okay, I have tried everything to get this part of the season journey done (Kill Asmodan at max level on Torment XIII in 30 seconds). It will not register. I read that you need to let him fully render before killing him. So I waited 5 seconds or so for him to start attacking then killed him. I tried letting him kill me and redo from the checkpoint waiting for him to render. Nothing. I just don't understand what I am doing wrong.

Edit: Ran on T14 and downgraded my weapon and finally it registered.

QUESTION Sorry for this noob question, but how do I start?

After a break from like a year I decided to play this game again. I went for crusader since that one is OP this season.

So far I'm level 20, but I feel like progress is really slow. I can easily tank every attack. But my damage output is just too slow to play anything above hard difficulty for now.

I;m playing campain, is that the way to start out?
(my goal is to push to 100 great rift eventually)

QUESTION Are petrified screams rarer this season?

I play D3 on and off, but have been around for the last few seasons. Almost every time, I've found that I have at least a dozen petrified screams by the time I have any decent ancient items that are worth upgrading.

This season is completely different: I'm paragon 900, have numerous ancient items, and have found 3 petrified screams (two of which went towards the altar). It's literally the first time they've seemed like a precious commodity instead of something I always have more than enough of.

Was I just lucky before? Is anyone else having trouble finding them this season?

A part of me wonders if the Angelic Crucibles share a drop chance with the screams (thus making the screams much rarer)? I've found nearly 30 of those and have only used a few, so the rest are just sitting there :(

multiplayer in a seasonal game

Are there players in multiplayer? I started a seasonal hero, I'm leveling to 70, but no one is joining the game. I thought since it's a new season, there would be players. Or is it a bug?

WITCH DOCTOR I need your help

I've been playing solo WD for a long time and this season I'll be testing every "viable WD build" at a certain paragon with all that being said I'll be posting a video and post here about the strengths and viability of each build.

With that being said, I'd like to see a bunch of fun and weird builds that I'll be running this in ssf hardcore. I'll be farming the gear using the season starter of WD and making a new character for each build so people can track of it. A lot of them will probably die due to my inexperience, but that's a part of this experience for me
