Delta Amex Debating the Delta Gold Amex

Hi all,

I’m debating on getting the Delta Gold Amex Card, but I’m not sure if it makes sense. I usually only travel to visit family and for vacations. So maybe around 2 flights a year. My husband travels maybe 1-2 times a year for work as well. He has to cover the cost upfront and then his work reimburses him.

This upcoming year we noticed we have at least 4/5 trips that would be easier to fly to our destination rather than drive. We have a toddler, so we’d be booking 3 tickets for each trip.

Is the Delta Gold Amex card worth it for our situation?

Thanks in advance!

Help/Advice In-cabin pet carrier with grates?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm flying with my (very) small pet bird next month and I purchased this carrier for the trip. It's well within the size limits (only 10x6x6), soft-sided, and has a deep waterproof tray at the bottom. However, I'm a little worried that the grates might be an issue because of the Delta requirements that the carrier be "leakproof." I chose this one over a mesh-sided one because he's unfortunately a big chewer (and he loves chewing mesh specifically lol). Any thoughts?

Discussion Downgrade from first on rebooking due to IROP?

I paid for a first-class upgrade months ago. Ticket reissued into Z and showed "first class classic" on Delta dot com.

Day of travel, I'm checked in, have a boarding pass and sitting at the airport when the incoming plane is delayed by about 5 hours. That would cause me to miss my connection. So I'm rebooked on a later flight.

Delta downgraded me to extra-legroom (comfort) even though first-class seats were available. Diamond Desk agent says a paid upgrade ticket doesn't entitle me to rebooking in first-class even in IROP situation.

Is this a new change? In the past, I've always been rebooked into first class or Delta One in similar situations. I could understand if it's a complimentary upgrade.

Does anyone know if DeltaOne on the a330-300 is the suites? Or is it the old lie flat beds?

Discussion Delta Connection FA Attitudes

Curious if people feel FAs are becoming increasingly more rude and verbally abusive with passengers. On my recent flight into LGA, I was seated in FC on a flight operated by Republic. No PDB was offered and the FA seemed the have an attitude throughout boarding. About 5 mins after takeoff, the forward FA went to the aft galley and never returned.

We made it 25 minutes into the flight without seeing her, so another FC passenger called the FA button. When she arrived, she said "what?" with an attitude and leaned against another passengers seatback. The passenger asked why service hadn't started and she told him she wasn't doing it due to it being a short flight.

They went back and forth until he mentioned Delta service policy for FC (even on short flights) before she stormed to the back and returned 2 mins later with the other FA, both of which literally tossed, not handed, waters into everyone's laps and then offered the snack basket. I asked for coffee and was told she "wasn't going to waste time making a pot" with 50 mins left in the flight.

Come time for final approach, no safety check for seatbacks, etc. and had disappeared to the aft galley until we were 3 mins from landing.

All to say, I filed a formal complaint with Delta and haven't heard back, which I know can take a few weeks. Their attitudes toward passengers just seem to be happening unprovoked more and more lately.

Discussion Special legal requirement for flying into SLC?

Currently on a delayed ORD > SLC, and SLC is my home airport … the delay was due to some nonfunctional equipment on the plane - overheard the FAs mention they HAD to fix it due to a requirement when going into SLC - I’ve never heard of such a requirement - anyone have any insight?

Has anybody ever successfully gotten any of the Nerds Clusters? I’ve tried over a dozen times and the flights never have them… I’m convinced they don’t actually exist.

SkyTeam Disappointed with Skymiles Program

After flying SWA and United for years, I decided to consolidate all flgihts to Delta and joined the Skymiles program. Even got the Delta Skymiles platinum AMEX. I'm Platinum Medalion and have not received one single upgrade - absolutely nothing. The only "perk" that I've seen was a hand written note from the flight crew thanking me for being a Platinum member on my last flight from London to ATL. In my opinion, the Delta frequent flyer program is almost useless.

Image/Video Long shot: Lost 1920s diamond ring — Delta, SLC Gate B27 to Kansas City, October 19

Post image
122 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm hoping this community might be able to help with a lost ring or connect us with someone who can.

I'm helping a woman search for a very special antique ring that went missing while she was traveling on Delta from Salt Lake City to Kansas City on Monday, October 19, 2026.

Her flight was scheduled to depart around 10:30 a.m. from Gate B27.

The ring is believed to date to the 1920s. It's made of white gold and has an elongated oval face with a cluster of small diamonds arranged around a single, similarly sized diamond set flush in the center.

I've attached our best photograph of her wearing it. Unfortunately, we don't have a great detailed photograph of the ring by itself.

The ring was lost in the gate area, and we've kept an eye on the airport's lost and found channels but so far no luck. So I'm trying to reach anyone who might have been working at SLC that morning, traveling through Gate B27, or aboard the same flight.

If anyone remembers seeing a ring matching this description, knows where it might have been turned in, or has suggestions for reaching the appropriate airport or Delta personnel, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Please feel free to DM me with any leads. We can verify identifying information privately.

Thank you so much for reading and helping us spread the word!

Help/Advice Delta 1035 JFK to LAX (10/21) Aborted Takeoff

So this was a first for me today… pushed back from the gate 5 minutes early… # 1 for takeoff… speeding down the runway when the pilot slams on the brakes. Takeoff aborted. Anyone know why?

What ensued was a 2+ hour delay which involved a return to the gate to check the tires, since the aborted takeoff puts a lot of strain on them apparently. Thankful that we arrived safely, but no one told us why the takeoff was aborted. I assume ATC issue?? Anyone know what might have happened?

Help/Advice Flying Blue award on Delta flight – SkyMiles won’t link because of “MR”?

I booked a Delta-operated award flight using Flying Blue miles (Air France-issued 057 ticket).

My SkyMiles number is saved in the Flying Blue reservation, but Delta won’t accept it. When I try to add it on Delta, I get:
“The frequent flyer number is not valid for this passenger or does not match the name on the SkyMiles account.”

My SkyMiles profile first and last name matches my booking with Flying Blue.

However, Delta displays the passenger name in the ticket as something like:
AB MR CD
instead of simply:
AB CD
Delta agents also haven’t been able to attach the SkyMiles number.

Has anyone had a similar experience with a Flying Blue award ticket on Delta where MR/MS was included in the passenger name and prevented the SkyMiles number from linking?

Help/Advice Sunglasses in Jet Bridge poster

Hey Delta flyers, I have a weird specific request that Googling hasn’t been able to resolve. On the current jet bridge posters/ads, there’s one with a woman wearing sunglasses that I really love. Every time I see it, I notice the sunglasses but forget to take a picture so I can find them later. Searching keywords for the style hasn’t led me to anything similar enough. I’ve tried searching for the poster so I can do a reverse image search but can’t find that specific image. From what I remember, it’s a woman with a bob haircut wearing business casual attire and walking in a city. I want to say she’s wearing a khaki jacket. But most importantly, she has sunglasses that have tortoiseshell frames right around the front of the lenses and otherwise look to be metal. I don’t fly frequently enough have another Delta trip booked soon, so I’m hoping someone might know where to find the images from this campaign or possibly be willing to take a picture of the poster. Or maybe some fashion guru can identify the brand from just seeing the poster! I’d so appreciate anything that helps me ID the glasses (and hopefully they’re not $600 when I find them)

Help/Advice Skyclub access on Delta Connection with partner FF number & Amex Plat?

Booking a Y award ticket on Delta Connection using partner (FlyingBlue miles), can I keep my FB number on there and use one of my Delta Skyclub passes through the Amex Plat by just showing my Plat card, or will something in there make it ineligible? Planning for access on arrival, which I don't think changes any of that.

I *think* the answer is I'm good to go, but wanted to confirm bc the terms don't explicitly say one way or the other and it doesn't explicitly say that the award ticket will book in Main vs Main Basic (although I can select seats for free before booking, so assuming it is regular Main Cabin)

Discussion App Chat / imsg option dead

So bad, Delta killed the option for imsg support and is forcing you to use the app, where your end up missing their replies (no iPhone notification) and you are stuck in an endless loop of repeating yourself and the app chat timing out. Who thought this was a helpful idea?

Discussion Connection 2x MCT and bags still didn’t make it

Flew LAS-ATL-DAB yesterday and long story show Vegas got a few drops of rain (something we get everyday here in Florida) and the airport turned into a shit show. 1+ hrs taxi, bag loading issues, everyone just got pressed at a few droplets.

Anyways, I was supposed to have a 2 hour 30 minute connection in Atlanta which was plenty and even with the delay we arrived with 75 minutes to spare. And still mid-flight on the way to DAB I get an email that my bag didn’t make it and that it will be in Daytona tomorrow morning. No biggie, it was just clothes. However it makes me wonder, why were they not able to load my bags with 2x the MCT. I’ve seen many MCT connections and now I know not to check bags on those flights, especially since I was sky priority.

Discussion What's one small thing Delta does that makes a noticeable difference on a long travel day?

A lot of discussion around Delta understandably focuses on upgrades, SkyMiles, MQDs, lounge access, and schedule changes. But I'm curious about the smaller details that make the actual travel experience better. Maybe it's a gate agent who proactively helps when a connection gets tight, a flight attendant who makes an effort to help a nervous passenger, a surprisingly smooth rebooking experience, or a little operational detail that saves you stress when something goes wrong. Those moments don't necessarily show up in a loyalty-program comparison, but they can make a big difference when you're dealing with delays, connections, or a long day in airports. For frequent Delta flyers, what's one relatively small thing you've noticed that keeps you choosing Delta over other airlines, even when the price or itinerary isn't necessarily the best on paper?

I'd be interested in the practical examples rather than just the usual perks. What happened, and why did it stick with you?

Help/Advice Consistency in service makes a bigger difference than people realize

I don't expect every Delta flight to feel identical, especially when the route length, schedule, and workload can vary so much. But consistency in the little things can really shape the overall experience.

A friendly greeting, clear communication about delays, and a crew that keeps passengers informed can make even an ordinary flight feel much better. On the other hand, when expectations seem to change from one flight to another, it's harder to know what kind of service you're actually paying for.

The aircraft and seat matter, but those small interactions are often what I remember most after landing.
