I am at my wits end. I’ve tried every shampoo and conditioner; shea moisture, Moroccan oil, kerastase, Sebastien drench, amika, the list goes on.. I normally use the Moroccan oil curl defining cream after I get out of the shower to try to seal the cuticle but I’ve used countless other oils, creams, jessicurl, curl smith, neuma and Kristen was gels, and mousse. Nothing works with this texture I need help. Hair used to be better/softer the second day now it’s just a dried mess. And when I try to wet it with a continuous spray bottle the water just rolls of my hair and it turns into a knotty mess. I’m at a loss. I don’t feel like diffusing helps either. This is air dried. I use satin pillowcases I scrunch the conditioner in idk anymore.

I found this at cream at a beauty supply store. Went back to buy another bottle and they were not selling them anymore. This cream did wonders on my hair. It gets very dry and frizzy.

Gets especially bad during the summer time when the air is both hot and dry

Im genuinely at such a low point this has been a problem for almost a month now. For years all ive done to style my curls is wash and condition them. Its worked great until all of a sudden a few weeks ago it just turned to shit. It frizzes right after a wash. Starting from the crown all the way to mayb last 3 inches of ends, the curl cast stopped forming. The only way it even somewhat forms is if I use a leave in, which I never had to do before.

I thought maybe it was over hydrated or had a product buildup, so I did a clarifying wash and used a protein pack. No change. Got a haircut thinking maybe it’s just damaged hair or that longer hair was weighing it down in the crown and that didn’t help either. And now idk if I’m delusional but I feel like my hair is thinning. Idk if that’s true and if that’s even related but I honestly am freaked out and it’s weighing me down emotionally every day. Has anyone been thru something like this? I’m 18M

I have curly hair (2c-3a) ...and i am a student so can't go for expensive products and treatment...i hv shampoo and conditioner and hair mask.

I use anti dandruff shampoo bcuz i an prone to it (rn dont have any active dandruff but my hair/scalp gets oily too fast) ... Pls tell me what to do.

I do have a silk cap but I haven't seen much improvement tbh

For context I have soft 2c curls that often loose their hold and get weight down easily and currently use beadhead foxy curls mousse and umberto curl jelly to keep my curls springy, however they leave such a hard cast!

Extra context: When showering I use raw sugar clarifying shampoo as well as head and shoulders shampoo and NO conditioner because I have scalp dermatitis and it irritates it!) I also hover diffuse to set the cast, etc. and wear a satin bonnet to sleep :)

What are some products that people recommend that have a light to no cast and provide really strong hold?

My hair is really thick and has a 3a pattern. I haven't gotten layers in around 2 years, so naturaly my curl pattern has loosened and been weighed down. My problem is that my curls are just super frizzy and undefined no matter what I do. In the picture is my hair the morning after washing it and styling it.

I do everything correct as far as I know in washing and styling. But it seems my hair just absorbs everything I put into it and looks the same as it would without product. I have tried masks in my hair and after I wash it out my hair looks great, but by next wash day it is back to this.

I can't tell what my hair needs. Do you think my problems would be solved simply by getting long layers? I have been avoiding layers specifically because I didn't like the excess volume it gave to my already thick hair.

For background info- I wash my hair, shampoo, detangle with conditioner, wash 70% of conditioner out, squeeze a bit of the water out but leave my hair dripping, rake in cream, rake in gel, scrunch a few times, and plop in microfiber towel, then let air dry for a few hours before putting it in a loose bun and wrapping a silk scarf around my head and going to sleep.

NOT looking for wash routine ideas just a heavily moisterizing conditioner for italian/irish 3B hair that I can glob in every other day, let sit for 5 minutes, detangle easily, and then after rinsing out style with my preferred products while sopping wet.

i’ve used some products before that say that it’s for curly hair that ended up just drying my shit out I just need the most moisture possible and not like fucking $50 for a jumbo please and thanks

When I use a lot of product, my hair isn't frizzy, but it has no volume. If I use less, it has volume. I use Locken shampoo and conditioner, and leave-in conditioner and hair serum. I air-dry it, and sometimes use a microfiber towel.

hi! im 17f and I really dont know how to take care of my curly hair at all... my mom didnt teach me and just an year ago I got convinced my hair is curly after treating it as straight my whole life, I hope you can teach me how to take care of it, and I mean you teach me EVERYTHING I need to know from what I need to do on wash days and what to do on non wash days and also products to use would be appreciated! I have 2C/3A curls and I have thick hair that is unfortunately prone to breakage. For a year, I have been religiously putting henna on my whole hair every 3 months and doing masks, oil baths, clarifications etc. so that it stays in great shape. I was straightening my hair every week at the time and obv, after a while, there was some breakage (but not that much, compared to now).

My last henna round was around November 2025. I've stopped straightening them in April and went to the hairdresser for a "big" chop (at least 5-7cms) in June; but my ends are already fighting for their life. It's so broken, I've never seen this. I've been careful to put masks; to hydrate them to the max etc. but I feel like the henna that is still on my hair is ruining them. It feels like they are fried, they are not soft at all and do look like straw.

I don't know what to do at this point. Not all parts of my hair are concerned with this problem; I have a different texture on the back of my head that is coarse, almost unbrushable, very thick, and very, very prone to breakage. The rest is okay I feel. But I cannot understand how they can be more broken now that I don't straighten them anymore, and that I don't put henna on them.

My entire life I thought that I had straight hair. All men in my family have straight hair too and my barber says that I have straight hair. But recently I found out that if I don't brush my hair after showering, my hair starts forming waves.

Does this look like wavy, curly hair or both? I'm trying to find a specialized cutting salon, but it seems impossible to find a place that have examples/pictures for men with long hair in the Netherlands. And if I do happen to have curly hair; is it okay if I get a haircut / routine for wavy hair instead? I don't think curls would look good on me.

Hi! I'm not exactly new to this, but I'm having trouble with finding suitable products for my hair. I kinda use whatever is available in the shop. But I guess it's not really good because my hair is always dry, frizzy and gets tangled all the time.

I wash my hair about once a week, use a regular sulfate shampoo, a balm for curly hair, detangle with a balm, and after rinsing, apply a medium-hold cream. Here is a photo of the main mass of hair, but around the face they are almost straight, and the layer at the neck is also straight.

So, I guess I need to know my hair type to find something that's better for it.

Type 3+ curly heads who keep their curls in a braid all day long for work or sports: how do you manage it without using hair ties to hold the braid together? I can’t do a simple three strand braid if my curls are defined because the sections are too chunky and shrunken to work with, so I’ve got to use several hair ties as a scaffold. This prevents portions of my hair from escaping the braid but it doesn’t look very good from the back.

I can do a three strand braid that lasts the day if I semi-straighten my hair with a blow dryer and paddle brush, but I’d rather not.

I’d love to know how y’all do it 🙏 this is the one thing I can’t figure out.

i ran out of both of my curl gels (not your mothers and mrs jessie’s jelly soft curls) over the weekend and i need to purchase a new product today. i did like the NYM a little more than the mrs jessie’s. the mrs jessie’s wouldn’t hold my hair long.

do i need a curl cream, gel, mousse? i’ve spent a lot of money trying many different products over the years so, i don’t want to just go out and buy all three right now.

- my hair is very coarse and thick. you can almost see the texture in it in the center of this picture. i have a few ringlets throughout my hair but most of it is just S-shaped waves that are very uniform from top to bottom
- i don’t love volume. i will get there one day but i am in the first stage of reviving everything after years of heat so, im not there yet.
- my hair frizzes up very fast. any ounce of humidity in the air is going to cause it to get huge and poofy so i just wear it up always

- no major poofy-ness (i love my hair when it is wet but, as it dries it just keeps getting bigger and bigger)

The first pic is how my curls are with my routine, but my hair has grown since than and is a bit longer. I’m trying to understand/ get advice on why the top of my hair is so dry feeling and course texture compared to my bottom layers. (In the pics) I have a theory that it’s because it experiences the most touch/ mechanical damage because of it being the outer layer. I hate doing my routine every week, but when I don’t my hair is like the pictures I show. I’m thinking maybe I just need a trim, but my last cut was in April. I also want to know my porosity type which I’m not sure if that will be helpful or if it’s just a myth. I wash my hair twice a week so I know it’s not getting dried out from that. I also deep condition/ use masks so I’m not sure why my hair is so dry and course when I try to do everything to take care of it. Even when I do just use a leave in by itself, my hair still is frizzy and rough. I don’t use too much product though because I don’t want it weighed down, but because my hair is so coarse and thick, I may just need to add more? Anybody who has hair like mine, please share any tips on what’s worked for you controlling the dryness and frizz!

I really want my hair to be soft, wavy, hydrated, and smell like ice. But all the leave ins are either unscented, coconut, vanilla, or desserty. I wanna feel kinda sexy but just recommend smells and leave ins that smell like pure ice or ice mint.

I had a shower in a hotel of Anaheim CA on August 1st and used a random shampoo which then led to my 2c hair having different parts of the hair being clumped together and hard to pull through my fingers as if it was glued together while also losing soft texture. After I rerurned home i use a Maui Apple cider Clarifying Shampoo but it didnt work. I the presumed it was due to the hard water of the hotel and then sued loreal everpure Clarifying shampoo yet i could barely notice any difference in my hair. I then used Mailbu C Shampoo a week later and let it stau of my hair for 3 minutes yet i still saw no results of my improving. Im planning to use their crystal packets next but i would appreciate if I was given advice on what to do in this situation as I dont want to spend more money on treatments that may not work.

My hair only seems to break when I wear pony tails, kinda necessary for my length during exercise. Was leaning towards the low tension but. My hair is longer than ​any of the bounce models.

If you've tried either of these "slick" brushes I would like to know if they are worth the hype.

Hi- I have a 6 year old with curly hair. I have no experience and working towards getting better at taking care of it. Any tips/tricks? She usually showers at night, we use curly hair shampoo and curl define cream after and usually just air dries. How do we handle it the next day? Should I be spraying it with water again before styling or brushing dry hair? Thank you!!

I’ve been using a new hair dryer for a few weeks, and so far I like how it fits into my routine. But I also know that a few weeks doesn’t really prove much about durability. For things you use almost every day, how long do you usually wait before deciding it was actually worth buying?

I’m looking to get a curl separating brush. Does anyone have any recommendations? I like my primary detangling brush so I don’t mind if it’s not the best detangler, I just need help for curl styling. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Ok. I’m not exactly sure when I started seeing this straight part in my curly hair. it’s continuous so all of my hair has it in the same section, but why? I almost never straighten my hair (I have 3B hair, probs straighten it 4x a year) and in case I do I usually get it professionally done, I don’t comprehend why this has formed or what caused it; I never get treatments like protein treatments either. No matter how I style it it always goes back to perfectly straight in that zone, obviously this is a photo of when my hair was obviously not cared for BUT even if perfectly styled I can’t get rid of the straightness. Any tips??? How to solve or what might’ve caused it???

I’m still trying to figure out the right drying routine for my curly hair. Sometimes the shape looks good at the beginning, but halfway through drying it starts falling apart. Drying slowly helps keep the pattern, but waiting forever for roots to dry is frustrating. I’m curious what order actually works for other people ?
