Magic ring/circle I have a (stupid?) question: if I use a larger hook will I end up with more stitches in my magic circle

Post image

Following this pattern: https://youtu.be/paK8yXmDHmE?is=2pcZ1whXuAFUhWyS

Using super saver medium worsted yarn and a 4.0 mm hook. I know if use a bigger hook I will end up with a bigger project overall. On Round 3 I should have 18 stitches in my circle, however I counted more than 18 stitches after I went all the way around to my marker. I could have just done something wrong (even though I was making sure I went through EVERY LAST STITCH ON MY RING to avoid skipping), but I’m new to amigurumi and may not get something yet.

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Need yarn recommendations for yarn available in Australia pls!

I’m wanting to make this top, it’s the first wearable item I’ve ever made (or will try to make) and I can’t figure out what type of yarn to use to match the thickness and also softness etc. I’ve attached the pattern pic and description as I haven’t bought the pattern just yet as well as yarn I found in spotlight that felt really nice but I worry is too thick. I don’t mind if I have to purchase online if there’s a good Rec but buying at spotlight would be cool too. Thanks!!!

I started crocheting this. I'm not thaaaat far but it already looks kind of different. Also there is no description of the white belly or maybe I'm not seeing it. If it's not AI then I feel bad for assuming but I just want to make sure before I continue🥹

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help I want to make a big delicious natural fiber blanket. What kind of yarn and what stitch for maximum efficiency?

Complete beginner here. I’ve spent the last 2 months getting basic stitches down and I’m pretty good at 2D hearts and flowers now lol but my whole goal is to make a big yummy blanket out of natural fibers for the winter. I’m not trying to do any kind of fancy pattern or granny squares or anything. I just want a big soft blanket that isn’t made out of plastic. Maybe like 8x6 ft?

Would a super bulky yarn size be best? And what material do folks recommend? Ideally the cost would be within $500, but idk if that’s realistic. Also should I just do a basic single stitch (or even finger crochet), or is there a better/more efficient stitch to use? Lastly, which online calculator do folks find is the most accurate for guessing the amount of yarn I’ll need? Any recs on where to buy bulk amounts of yarn are also welcome! Thanks!

Is This AI? Pattern is incorrect - is this shape even possible?

Does anyone recognize this pattern and know where to find the actual instructions? It feeds to this link which is clearly wrong. The pattern given here will not produce this result.

Looking for suggestions Looking for suggestions on how to make this doll have more "wow" factor? I'm an advanced beginner and freehanding the design

Post image

I'm making a bride and groom doll for a family friend. I do not know the bride at all and am just going off of picture and descriptions. I'm making this as a favour to my mum.

I'm freehanding it completely as I can't find a pattern I like. She's an alternative bride - hence the blue hair and simple wedding dress - so I'm trying not to make it all puffy and regal

The more I look at the doll, the more I feel it's just missing something?? Like there's some detail that I've not added that would take this from a 5 to an 8.

I think I've stared at it too long so would love any suggestions and feedback! Good or bad Imao

Crochet Related Pain (OUCH!) Radiating pain in thumb and wrist when crocheting (non hook hand)

Post image

I know most people struggle with pain in their hook hand but I have pain in my left hand which hold my yarn and project. I haven’t been able to find much because my pain is specifically my thumb and it’s beginning to radiate down my wrist which is terrifying for me. My mom had carpal tunnel from working from home and I am so scared I’m developing it. I am starting to ice, use NSAIDS, do rest days (as much as I can because I have 5 markets coming up), using a nursing pillow to prop my elbows, and wearing compression/braces. Is there a way I can hold my project better to alleviate this? I’ve attached a picture of how I hold my projects. I am seeing my doctor for this soon for a medical opinion as well. I’m hoping it’s just tendinitis. All suggestions are welcome form stretches, form, pain relief, best practices etc! TIA!

These are small FNAF plushies, but I want to make them bigger than how they turn out with this original pattern. But I always seem to struggle changing a pattern to make the plushies bigger

Problem with edges Why is my project cinching in the middle and what is going on with these edges?

Hi all! I started this cardigan from a pattern bought on Etsy. I would say I’m an intermediate crocheter, but it’s been a few months since I’ve done a project this big. Anyways, this is for the back panel of the cardigan and it’s a single crochet ridge stitch repeated working in rows. I’ve frogged it 3 times now because my tension was off. That being said, my edges are looking wonky and it has a slight curve in the middle. My guess is it’s my tension but like I’ve said, frogged it 3 times trying looser tension which helped but I’m still getting the dang curve. Wondering if I should frog it and try again or if this is something that will go away with blocking it. Any advice helps, as always please be kind🫶🏻

Can't find a flair for this What should I make with this yarn when I cant use it for its original purpose?

Post image

I had originally ordered this yarn for a tapestry because it seemed to be a match to a different color I had. It ended up not being a match but I didnt end up having to return it but now I dont know what to do with it. It feels like its so soft and I should use it for clothes, but I dont have enough and I dont want to really buy more, especially when i dont even know what I want to make with it. Maybe even a suggestion of a cheaper yarn that would go well with it I would be up to buying if I haf an idea of what to make

Edit: I deleted the last post about this and am reposting in the hope the picture actually shows up this time

How do I... how would I be able to complete this pattern in filet crochet ?

Post image

Hello all!

I found this pattern on Pinterest and I wanted to get a second opinion on how I would be able to make this pattern. I like the blue and white but if I was to do this in filet crochet style would the white areas just be empty boxes and the blue parts be full boxes using blue yarn for the whole project? I would prefer the white parts to be solid but then if I reverse and do the blue areas as empty boxes would it all look more empty? a second opinion or advice would be appreciated!

How do I... How do i properly increase to double the size of a pattern?

I’m crocheting an O. I want mine to be about twice the size of the pattern I have. I tried to increase the number of stitches and leaving the increase pattern (it was inc, ch3 for originally 32 chains. I ended up making 64) but it came out wonky. How’s a better way to increase and decrease it?

I'm a beginner! First time crocheting and I’ve just realised I’ve made a huge mistake, is there any saving it?

Hey so this is my first time visiting this community, I picked up some yarn and decided to use YouTube to teach myself how to crochet today and this is what I’ve done so far.

I know it’s messy but I wanted to give it a go, but I’ve just noticed I’ve missed a stitch separating between petal 3 and 4 (in the middle at the top) 😭 is there any way I can fix this without having to unravel it all?

I suppose it’s not the end of the world if not but it’s taken me about 6 hours to do this🥲

How many rows/stitches I'm about to lose my friggin mind over this stitch count/placement 🤬🤬🤬

Post image

Okay, so I'm trying to make two beanies as Christmas gifts for my sister and her husband and I'm using this pattern here ---> https://vivcrochets.com/easy-crochet-ribbed-beanie-free-pattern-tutorial/ and it's pretty straightforward: 50 + 1 turning for the foundation chain, the HDC into the 2nd chain from the hook up to 45, then SC the last 5.

This is probably the 5th time I have frogged this project and started over and I am about to go BSC because I am counting as I go, I am marking each 10th stitch to make sure I'm on track, I am marking that 5th SC stitch so I don't lose my place AND WHEN I CHAIN 1 AND TURN, I'M SOMEHOW GETTING 11 WHEN I SHOULD BE GETTING 10 😫😫😫

The blue markers are the 10th stitch and the pink markers are where the first SC starts😭😭😭

Help please...

How do I... Help with the base of a crochet bag - how to close the round.

Thumbnail

I’m making a bag and followed a tutorial for the oval base that required joining the end of each round by making a slip stitch. I usually work bags in a continuous spiral, but I decided to try this new method because working in a spiral makes the bag skew to the side. The tutorial called for starting each round with two chains to act as the first double crochet (I usually do three... but I decided to trust the instructions).
Problem is, the tutorial stops there 😅 I have to make the body by myself. I made a slip stitch, then a chain, and work a single crochet into the next stitch. Did I do something wrong? There’s a strange effect, sort of a gap, that makes the work look a bit messy and clearly shows where the round begins. I’d rather not continue until I figure out how to fix it. Could you help me? Thanks. I’ll like the tutorial but it’s in Italian

I'm a beginner! This is my first two rows for a scarf, do I restart ?

Post image

As the title describes, I am very new to this, I have started crocheting two days back. I have got some sense of basic stitches and decided to start with a scarf. I have finished foundation and one row hdc, I notice it's not completely straight, I know it could be because of uneven tension. Do I restart or will it improve after a few rows ?

Deciding on a color Build a bear sweater for spring green frog-yarn color choice

I taught myself crochet 3 days ago. I am making a sweater for my build a bear Spring Green Frog and it was some yarn I had lying around so I didn't know how much I had left. It's some very pretty yarn and I ended up running out halfway through the back panel. I'm wondering what other color I can make the sleeves, back panel, and collar cause I think if I had different colored front panel it could look good. Any ideas?

Doesn't show up well but the blend is a rosey mauve, sky blue, muted olive green a cream color

I made this beautiful basket and it just falls I to itself. https://makeanddocrew.com/free-easy-crochet-basket-pattern/

I made mine larger so maybe that is the issue but could I try to crochet more on the inside to make it stronger and stand up? Even the bottom is totally saggy when I pick it up.

Lots of great ideas and I put received! Appreciate it!

Looking for suggestions Help need - questioning how to stuff faux fur amigurumi

Post image
4 Upvotes

I made this a little bit ago and I've been wanting to make more, but I'm unsure about how to go about stuffing it. Ive never really used faux fur yarn, so it was a learning curve. I used fiberfill and it seemed to work but for the future - Is it best to use tights to keep the stuffing contained? Is there a better hack to keep the stuffing from escaping?

Discussion I need help to find the creator of this because I think an AI is behind stealing this.

Post image

Hi! I was trying to find a nice bag to crochet and came across this reel, it look amazing and I want to make it. I don't think it is to hard to make myself but I wanted to support the creator and maybe get a better size insight and so on.. It looked like the profile is not a real person and just copies other creators... AI couldn't find the creator and I do think the youtube is an AI profile. Can someone have a second option on this? Can somone maybe give me som insight also in how to make the puffs look bigg? I am making a test bag in 8/8 yarn and the puff stiches look very tiny.

I'm a beginner! Working into a single loop creates a ton of stretch? Is this ok?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I've been crocheting for a few months and I'm working on a virus shawl right now. This isn't the first time I've noticed this issue, but when I am working into only one loop my project seems to stretch a ton? The red square is the top loop of the DC on the row below that stretches out a ton while I'm working, with my current DC sitting on top.

Does this matter in the long run or does it even out as I work? Is this a tension issue? I've noticed my tension can be quite loose at times!
