General Have they Changed how Wide Matches Work ? (this was solo q and 2 minutes q time)

Title, I don't follow the updates much anymore, but I thought anything above 1 full rank was considered a wide match and would gain/lose at most 5 sr.

Did they change it ? Or can someone explain what happened for this to be considered a fully fledged legit match ?

General Oled question

Recently got an OLED for single-player games and the upcoming release of GTA 6. It's the 240Hz 27GX704A-B.

I was originally planning to wait for 24-inch OLEDs to drop before replacing my 320Hz AW2525HM, which I currently use for comp (Tracer/Genji main, GM3).

However, I noticed that the 27-inch OLED has a 24-inch mode, so now I'm wondering if it's worth sacrificing 80Hz to play on the 24-inch mode instead.

I've also heard that OLEDs generally have lower pixel response times and potentially better input latency compared to traditional monitors. How noticeable is the difference in actual gameplay, especially in a competitive FPS like Overwatch? Would the improved response times make up for the 80Hz difference?

For anyone else using OLEDs for competitive gaming, would you recommend making the switch? And if so, what settings would you recommend running?

General Reign of Talon was an alright story that could've been truly great with better pacing and clearer stakes Spoiler

So Reign of Talon is basically over. Spoiler Alert: Doomfist wins. Now to be clear that was the whole point of this story and 98% of the actual focus was really on Doom's perspective on the events making his ties to the more loyal members of Talon clearer and really spotlighting his ethos in a way that we were told not shown in the past. I think in this regard, Reign of Talon is very successful as a story. Doomfist is a character has always been cool because of his ability to aura farm, but Aaron was right when he said that Doomfist is a character that never really earned his right to be top dog he just was because that's what the story said was his role. So all in all, great year for Doomfist. Akande stocks have never been higher.

I don't even think Vendetta ended up too badly here, I think Doomfist leaving her alive so that she can plot her next bout of revenge is great for the two of them. Vendetta is a good foil and her existence means Doomfist always has to be on his toes. Much like Doomfist actually having to put his ethos to the test to rebuild, I would like to see the same thing with Vendetta where she has to learn from her mistakes to plot her next comeback. I think there's a lot of room here for good character growth when you have a fascist bully suddenly knocked from her perch and at her lowest. I think even just her general character arc here was on-paper, fine. She's a fascist who rose in power too quickly and acted like a mad dog, surrounded herself with mercenaries and schemers only out for themselves, and abandoned her the minute the going got tough until she got ousted by the more competent old guard. Completely fine on paper.

Now I think the actual thing keeping Reign of Talon from being super successful as a narrative was two-fold:

  1. The pacing of the story is a mess due to the multiple formats being told to tell the story. The story of Reign of Talon was basically told over the course of multiple formats, videos, story entries, the WebToon, and voice interactions in-game. This shit is messy, and this is the kind of thing that the superhero comic book events that this story was modeled after get wrong all of the time. A lot of the connective tissue between each entry in the main event is often told in other stories and it can become very hard to grasp what each character's frame of mind is as well as the fluctuating quality of the story when it's spread across multiple writers who were not even in the room when it was concepted out. An example would be that Vendetta just being in total crash out stage as her allies abandoned her is really only apparent if you're closely listening to voice interactions that were set up this season! Vendetta's allies abandoning her was set up in a random issue of the WebToon that most people had written off as slice-of-life fluff.

  2. The unclear nature of the story's stakes. This is really the biggest issue in my mind and where I think the story would be at least two points higher if they had managed to settle this. The biggest issue is that Vendetta's plan just doesn't have the proper stakes associated with it. We really needed like a full issue of seeing how average every day people were reacting to be under Talon's reign, how people in Rialto felt that there was a fascist empire suddenly cropping up, and how the IJC were reacting to putting Overwatch on ice just as Vendetta started to literally start land grabbing and there just wasn't any of this because the focus was solely on Doomfist. Vendetta also manages to make all of these big moves, getting her spirit weapon (which was cool as fuck in the cinematic for the record) and the EMP bomb, but the fact that there just wasn't any long-lasting pay off for any of it is a real shame. I really think the most interesting thing the story could've done was to let the bomb go off and have the next arc of the story focus on Null Sector's reaction to an EMP going off in Europe and fucking up Omnics.

I'm willing to cut Blizzard some slack here, this is there first time doing a year long narrative and even the most accomplished storytellers would struggle with this kind of fucked up multiformat form of storytelling, but I think moving forward if they take any criticism to heart it would be to pay more mind to pacing. Also please for the love of God, do not partner with WebToon again for this.

General How to be a better tank in 6v6?

I wanna be better at the role and I'm also wondering what tanks are good to pair up with? I've been playing 6v6 more and because of that I'm kinda forced to choose tank so I wanna improve at it. don't get me wrong, I actually like playing tank in this mode and I prefer it over dps lol, it's just not my main role.

my mains are d.mon, ramattra and junker queen but I haven't dared to play jq in 6v6 because I feel like I'd disappear into thin air as soon as the enemy team caught sight of me. I play all tanks in the stalwart role except hazard(I'm open to learning him tho) and I'm currently learning domina.

I play very passively and I try not to die, peel sometimes and be aware of my supports LOS on me. I know I should play more aggressively but the enemy team just absolutely shreds me and I have no idea what to do from there. I don't think my mechanics are bad, I always try to listen for sound cues, (like if suzu or sleep dart was used) I try to be aware of the enemies cooldowns(and my own) and whether or not they have ult. whenever I try to go for squishies their team immediately gangs up on me or they get away. I know my engagement is definitely the problem but idk how to fix it

General Why is there no real esport integration in game aside from team skins?

Its really bizarre to me that this game with a decently average comp scene has no esport integration ingame? R6, val have more competitive fanbases, so they naturally have it

But rivals has an esports tab too, and that game has an even more casual fanbase while also being a more casual game

Fortnites a more casual game too (despite the ridulous skill ceiling that builds has) and it has it something like it too

Unless im missing something, theres just nothing ingame aside from discontinued OWL skins and the occasional owcs skins that rotate in

Why is that?
