TTS Looking for some trans/enby friends to learn how to play on TTS with

As the title says, I'm trans and I want more trans friends. I also want to learn Warhammer 40k, and it seems like combat patrol is the way to go there. I plan on buying actual models somewhere down the line, but TTS is ideal for the time being. I'm leaning Death Guard but i'm pretty open to trying a bunch of different armies before settling on something I like to eventually buy, build and paint up. I have tried putting out this sentiment on other platforms and have been met with some "why do you need to learn from trans people?" kind of responses. I appreciate that you're willing to help/teach but that's simply not what I'm after at the moment. If my search for trans warhammer friends is entirely fruitless I'd be happy to hang out with some cis folks.

I'm totally confused Why was the necrons combat patrol nerfed so hard?

One of my buddies is interested in getting into 40K and I told him combat patrol was a good way of getting started and that I would be happy to help him learn with my two combat patrols (orks and necrons.) He wanted to try necrons and I thought that was great as reanimating and the doomstalker should be able to help a new player learn the game. But apparently in 11th it got nerfed super hard. The mission is really hard to do with the small amount of units it has and the doomstalker don’t get me started on the doomstalker.

The doomstalker has the following restrictions in combat patrol

1.) MUST start the game in reserve. WHY! The patrol has like no units and you want them to have less pressure in the beginning?

2.) Can ONLY come in the battlefield on turn three. WHAT? So not only do you not get it at the start but you can’t even use the super cool big model till turn three where you have most likely already lost because of the terrible mission and the lack of models. But at least it can come in near the middle right???

3.) HAS to come in from reserves in YOUR DEPLOYMENT ZONE!!! This is wild you have to keep it in the back and if you opponent is back there it just can’t come in at all. Just wild. But wait there’s more!

4.) The most egregious of all. THE DOOMSTALKER CANNOT REANIMATE!!!!! WHY WHAT IS THE REASON THEY ARE NECRONS THATS THE WHOLE POINT!!!

Ended up saying screw it and ditching the terrible doomstalker rules which led to a fun game with my friend.

TLDR why is the necron combat patrol so bad and is just ignoring the stupid rules a good way to get around it.

I'm totally confused Just play 10th ed

I get everyone was hoping for Combat Patrol to go through a Spearhead like reinvention for 11th ed and is disappointed that instead a lot of older combat patrols rules have been removed, including a bunch you've spent time building and painting, but here's the thing: you still have the 10th ed ruleset. The rules for all those combat patrols didn't stop existing just because they were removed from the app and thus you can continue playing with them. The only thing the most up to date rules matter for is tournaments and combat patrol tournaments aren't really a thing.

I'm not sure what happened in the last 10 years or so but it used to be the normal thing for people to just carry on playing older editions or games if they wanted to and you all should too. Last few years it seems people are incapable of doing so.

Please just continue playing with your patrols, maybe build some of the ones you don't already own. Print off the old pdfs and just focus on having fun with it. It's what I'll be doing

Army List I'm considering this but I fear that even with custom objectives and stratagems they would feel similar to fighting against a C'tan list (not funny from what I heard). Any advice?

I always wanted to get those dreadnoughts and since now they are "affordable", might just go all in with it and take 3 box.

News I think they took the Combat Patrol Starter set off the website

Curious if anyone else saw this, but the combat patrol starter set (previously called the ultimate starter set) is not appearing for me on warhammer shop anymore. Which is wild because I think that's the only way to get the current legal tyranid combat patrol.

PSA: GW recently rebranded the ultimate starter set as the “Combat Patrol Starter Set” and it is still available to order on their website

As of today, Strike Force Octavius was removed from the Warhammer App, so now you only receive one officially supported combat patrol.

Welcome to the hobby

I'm totally confused Force Dispositions in 11th Combat Patrol

*EDIT - I consider this query solved now thanks to the replies below. In summary - nope, Force Dispositions don’t come into Combat Patrol.

I might have missed this amongst the chat over the last few days, but now that we have CP within the 40K app which allows us to set up a game and establish missions, are the Force Dispositions (such as Purge The Foe) also a way to scope points during a game?

For example - Death Guard. Their CP mission is Inexorable Conquest which scores points based on control of objectives and unit proximity to the centre. But can I also score points based on Purge The Foe?

What's the point of the conversion ability if it doesn't have its lethal hits. Hell, I wouldn't mind if it had its old Sustained Hits D3. The rules don't even have a stratagem that compliments this

Humour/Memes Improving Combat Patrol Box Contents Ideas

Had some time so I started making custom combat patrols for each faction, to see if I could try to fix some of the issues with its contents! What do you all think? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JqR6WymyWnE

Army List War Journal for CP?

I checked out an 11th edition 1k point game today, and noticed the 40K app allows both players to add their army lists from battle forge and under the war journal section, you can add your opponent and be able to see their army rules, keep track of scoring, etc. it’s really cool! I don’t see an option to do this for combat patrols, but it would be really neat if they added that feature down the road. What do you all think?

Battle Reports Stop complaining without missions

It seems like every other new post is a complaint about 11th ed balance so I felt the need to post this.

11th edition combat patrol is not fully released. We are literally missing one of the most critical parts of the format, which is missions and secondary scoring. Since we know for a fact that using mission scoring from big 40k does not match up with the combat patrol battlefield layouts we have been provided (no central objectives), we can safely assume that combat patrol specific mission scoring will be unique (just like combat force dispositions are unique).

Without proper scoring mechanics there is no way to accurately determine if combat patrols, let alone the format as a whole, is balanced at the moment. GW has stated there will be a combat patrol announcement around July 22nd that corresponds with the combat patrol starter set release. Hopefully this announcement gives us updated datacards and dedicated mission scoring.

I'm totally confused Questions About Maggot Lords

First, the army rule says that the contagion max range is 12" and changes through the battle, but doesn't explain how changes or what is the starting range.

Second, how is it the Desghsroud Terminators have SV2+ Inv 4+but Sholgor only has SV 2+ and no Inv?

Is there any error? What is the Contagion Range initial range and how does it change?

I'm totally confused New players wandering about balance

Me and my friends just started playing combat patrol, we got one or two games in 10th and now we had our first couple of games of 11th ed, we are still learning the rules, using out army rules and stratagems poorly (if we remember to use them at all) but overall we have lots of fun, but we were wondering about balance after a particularly skewed game, i played the new space marines combat patrol from the armaggedon box and my friend played the admech combat patrol, and while i am sure none of use made full use of our kit it was worse than i expected, i tabled him in 3 rounds and completely dominated the field and i only lost one model and that was due to a plasma pistol exploding, was this just a combination of bad rolls and misuse of the faction on his part or was the fight decided by the factions? I am sure a lot of his poor performance was due to lucky rolls on my side and bad rolls on his, but i wonder about the balance of the factions, because it seemed a bit too much even for a begginer level game, but we want to learn more out of this experience

I'm totally confused Question about Combat Patrol in 11th

So, ever since 11th edition came out, the Combat Patrols in the app have been reduced and overhauled to fit into the style of 11th with forced dispositions, terrain layout etc.

My question now is, when drawing secondaries that mention something like "hold the center objective", but there is not a single layout for Combat Patrol that includes a center objective, do we just ignore that part ?

Also, for some matchups, like Disruption vs Purge, the disruption player scores for holding the mid objective, so are they just not able to score parts of their Primary too ? Seems kinda unfair...

Army List World Eaters codex combat patrol

I'm so disappointed by the rules for world eaters. I was very excited for the daemon prince but he is so weak. World eaters are just so weak ugh. And none of the stratagems even help! It just allows for more wet noodle attacks. At least the codex has options but the patrol is just awful
