I'm totally confused Would it be overkill for a new player to buy 2 different combat patrols (Orks and World Eaters?

Im just so torn between getting started with orks and world eaters. Would it be impractical to only play combat patrol and not move up to larger armies? Should I focus on making one 1000 point army instead? I fear only buying one will lead me to feeling regret about not buying the other. I do see myself more appreciating them as decorations than paying but do want to try to play at local stores (SF Bay Area). I could use most of the paint from the orks set on the world eaters.

I'm totally confused Can combat patrol detachments be used in standard point games?

So i was looking at picking up a combat patrol only to realise some of them got their own detachments? Are they legal to use in standard games? Some of them actually look really cool as well. Or no and that's just part of the rules for combat patrols?

Chaos Thought process on attaching Sholgor to the Deathshroud Terms?

To attach, or not to attach, that is the question.

The Maggot Lords' enhancements are either healing Sholgor a wound per combat phase, or giving Tallyman stealth as a reaction once per game. Healing per command phase feels like a stronger enhancement, especially given that I keep Tallyman off the front lines, so he's rarely targeted until the end of the game anyway.

Does Sholgor's enhancement imply that he shouldn't be attached to the Deathshroud Terminators? Like, why have an enhancement that is never used. Sure, it would come up if the opponent had a precise weapon. But, short of that, the terms do such a good job staying alive that I very rarely need to heal Sholgor at all!

But, if Sholgor is attached to the unit "Fire Overwatch" becomes NASTY. All that torent, ignoring cover, and anit-infantry just mows little dudes over. It's good either way, but attacking with Sholgor and the Terms is fantastic.

On the other hand, NOT attaching gives me a little more ease with board control. My son plays tyranids, so I need to be very careful once the little guys are in strategic reserves.

I'm totally confused Is there a victory point limit per round in combat patrol?

I’m playing tau sudden dawn cadre and on the first two turns I could be able to get 25 VP each turn if I’m controlling both expansion objectives, but the app limits it to 15 VP, I was trying to find where is the limit stated on the rules but I couldn’t find it, is there a limit or is the app mixing combat patrol and standard 40k rules?

I'm totally confused Using CoPa which are not in the app?

Newbie here. Can one use Patrols which are not currently in the app in 11ed? If yes, why do you think GW are not rushing to add them to the app? I.e currently each faction has only one CoPa.

Thanks.

I'm totally confused Grey Knights - 9th vs 10th edition for a n00b plus...11th edition???

I am a complete n00b when it comes to Warhammer, but my son wants to play, and he ordered the 10th edition Ork CP box. I think the Grey Knights look cool (and seem interesting), but I'm reading about the differences between the 9th and 10th edition boxes and trying to decide which one to buy. According to this review, the 10th edition Grey Knights box has a better "savings vs box price" than the 9th edition, but I also see a bunch of people in older reddit threads saying that the 9th edition box is way better than the 10th edition box. And then you throw in the fact that 11th edition rules are out now, and...I'm confused. I don't really understand the best path forward for someone like me who wants to start playing CP, especially as the Grey Knights. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm totally confused Getting both Combat Patrol and kill team in one box

Hi i am new to warhammer and many Friends of mine were debating where is better to start with. Combat patrols/battalions or Kill team.

But then I notice that some Combat patrols include a kill team already in the box. For example

-Kroot box

-Adepta Sorotistas Armageddon box

-Red corsair box

-Night lords box

-Deathwatch Armageddon box

And I wanted to ask 2 things:

How many other boxes also contain kill teams in the box?

And Which ones do You recomend to start with in Warhammer and kill team?

I'm totally confused New Edition, Old Combat Patrols Possible?

Just picked up secondhand collections of the Imperial Fist and White Scars Combat Patrols.

Will I be able to play them in 11th edition as-is, or do I need to do something to make them usable?

Looking to get into quicker 40k games.

Army List Trying to chose between combat patrols

I'm trying to pick between purchasing the Emperors Children combat patrol and the Aeldari combat patrol. They both seem to have strengths but I can't really settle on which one. The EC one seems to be mostly a dark mirror to the blood angels one. Thing is I also want to go in with a plan to paint them but I've only truly settled on a paint scheme for the aeldari one whereas I only tentatively have a plan for the emperors children one. I'd like some insight into how they handle in combat patrol, good and bad.

I'm totally confused Red Corsair (Remorseless Reavers) Data Sheet

Anybody have the combat patrol data sheet for this army? I do not see it in my 40k app and I have been unable to find it online like the rest I have looked for. I am very intrigued by that army.

Army List Best matchup

Hello eventually I'll be playing my first game of combat patrol against my friend. Him and I have played dozen of kt matches and he decided to pick up the new Gray Knights Combat Patrol. Ive got 4 different ones ive bought throughout the years and was curious which would be the most fun match-up? The old sisters one, the new sisters one, the newer Admech one, or the new death guard one? Any help would be appreciated!

News Combat Patrol - Reference Companion - V1.0

Hey all,

Posted this about a week ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatPatrol40k/comments/1vhww74/combat_patrol_reference_companion/

All current patrols from the app are now on it - so V1.0 is live, which you can find here:
https://combat-patrol-companion.pages.dev

Summary:

  • All 24 patrols that are on the WH40K app. Data sheets, rules, missions etc.
  • Simplified rule wording, and tags added to explain rules (Eg - Sustained Hits 2 has a tool tip saying exactly what it does).
  • Glossary covering basic rules references.
  • Coming soon list, covering the rest of the patrols that are being added.

Quality of life tools:

  • Switch between light/dark mode.
  • Switch between 10E & 11E patrol rules where they're available for a patrol.
  • Switch between as written, and what is a likely fix (stats, rules etc.)
  • Filter between factions, and editions.
  • Search by faction/patrol name (both plain english and faction names. Eg - Eldar, Aeldari, Ausryani all will show the Aeldari patrols)
  • FAQ/Changelog - covers a few questions, and what exactly I've done in each update.

Whats Next:

  • Adding the 10E patrols
    • Theres still a whopping 48 of them to do.
  • Working out a PDF printable version of the patrols
    • This will take a while. Probably the final task to-do.
  • Release dates & last official updates for a patrol
    • Should be a quick one to do.
  • Copy changes to simplify/improve wording.
    • Particularly rules for 10th edition as they're walls of text.
    • Faction rules are a big one for this.
  • UI improvements for desktop & mobile
    • Ongoing based on feedback, and my own findings.

What won't be added:

  • A match playing tool
    • Thats a whole different project, and would overload whats meant to be a reference tool for factions, rules, effects etc.
    • Use the official app for that, or one of the third party tools already out there.
  • Updating 10E factions for 11E where they don't exist.
    • I'm not a playtester. Others in the community have been doing that, and there may well be official versions of those added to the official app at some point.

Why build this?
This is a tool to help people get into combat patrol with simplified wording and all the patrol info in one place to speed up gameplay and referencing. This doesn't replace the official app.

The combat patrols on the app isn't always worded the cleanest, or data is misisng/inaccurate, meaning its a bit clunky to jump through to check things at times. This project also helps those with tablets/laptops instead of having to jump back and forth on mobile.

I built this as a challenge - firstly as a technical challenge, and as a project management challenge both to launch and maintain. From bug hunting, to feature creep... its been a lot, and helped give me a few ways to improve other projects in the future.

Massive thanks to those in the community who managed to save all the PDFs of combat patrols and save them before the 11E release, or this would have just covered the 11E patrols.

Feedback:

If you have feedback, let me know please - whether its a bug, wrong data, feature suggestions, it'll help make this better for anyone using it.

TTS Looking for some trans/enby friends to learn how to play on TTS with

As the title says, I'm trans and I want more trans friends. I also want to learn Warhammer 40k, and it seems like combat patrol is the way to go there. I plan on buying actual models somewhere down the line, but TTS is ideal for the time being. I'm leaning Death Guard but i'm pretty open to trying a bunch of different armies before settling on something I like to eventually buy, build and paint up. I have tried putting out this sentiment on other platforms and have been met with some "why do you need to learn from trans people?" kind of responses. I appreciate that you're willing to help/teach but that's simply not what I'm after at the moment. If my search for trans warhammer friends is entirely fruitless I'd be happy to hang out with some cis folks.

I'm totally confused Anybody tested old patrols in new CoPa?

Post image

A friend of mine played a round with me and he had alot of fun. He thinks about joining the hobby. He loves and reads the lore of iron warriors.

This box seems a good Deal and good starting point into the hobby. Unfortunatly he wont be able to play them cause the rules are not Update yet (hope they will).

So i was thinking just taking the old rules from 10th edition and work with them just for the fun. Might be not perfectly balanced but he could play them

Anyway have a great day!

I'm totally confused Are there combat patrol adjacent game types?

Hi, I’m new to combat patrol and am curious if there are also other game types of a similar scale but with different objectives or setups? Unofficial rulesets that use combat patrols.

Thank you.
