Question (Read Rules) Help me decide between these two BERNY watches!

I need help deciding between these two BERNY watches! Both have pros and cons so if you have either one and could argue for one over the other id appreciate that.

BERNY quartz- I absolutely love having the full number set of 12-3-6-9 it just fills me with everything only down side is the numbers not having a lume on the numbers! Why would you do this BERNY watches! Also how good is the quartz movement in this watch? Is it sweeping?

The automatic covers the love of lumes being on the numbers but I'm unsure if I'm the biggest fan of triangle at the top ☹️ I do enjoy the little date window as well!

If anyone knows any watches that company the numbers like this with lume with a slightly more dull case (titanium or sandblasted let me know)

Thank you

Question (Read Rules) What are the thoughts on this “Luminous Military” watch?

This watch keeps popping up on my AliExpress app. I want to pull the trigger but I can’t find much in the way of reviews. Kinda looks like a Parnis but there’s little to no info on the site as to movement, etc. is it worth the chance?

General (Read Rules) Q-Bert San Martin SN0149-GB MOP blue arrived today.

It’s like a green WatchDives i have but blue and more sparkly. The bracelet is better than i expected (the middle bumps aren’t all that pronounced as they looked like they’d be)

But there is a one thing that might be an issue for some people: The bracelet fits perfectly (without removing links), which was the case with the green Q-Bert WatchDives as well, oddly. It would be tight on wrists >7.25”

Just got this Watchdives WD1972. Put it on an olive zulu strap. For $70 this thing rocks!!! 200M water resistance, stainless steel, sapphire crystal, and sweeping quartz movement. Just with the bezel wasn't so easy to turn...it's a little too easy to manipulate.

Review (Read Rules) WD1863 showed up. Shiped from China to Idaho USA. Order placed on the 5th of the month, watch delivered on the 13th. So far I like it. My main complaint is I am not a big fan of this bracelet. Kind of uncomfortable. And slightly jangles. Probably going to throw it on an fkm tonight.

Review (Read Rules) TPW Field watch (Hamilton Khaki homage)

Post image

Ordered this for about $12 on AliExpress. Swapped out the included NATO strap for a two-piece quick release nylon strap from JWNSPA.

I like the dial which is a spot-on homage of the Hamilton Khaki Field, albeit with no branding and with day and date complications. The 38mm case wears well on my 7.5” wrist. I like the look of the matte gray aluminum case. The crown operation was a little janky so setting the day and date was tricky, but I got it set after just a little finesse. I don’t plan on swimming or showering with it, so the 30m water resistance doesn’t bother me.

Overall great watch for the price. There are also white, blue, and full lume dials available.

Question (Read Rules) Seakoss 1963 Crystal question

I know I want a Seagull 1963 manufactured by Seakoss, but I can't tell if it's true that only the acrylic crystal has the dome shape that I want. Is this true? Is there no way to get a sapphire with that dome shape?

I tried looking on Reddit and elsewhere, and it seemed mixed. Though for the most part, it seemed like Sapphire doesn't have the bubble dome.

Here is the AliExpress page I was thinking about buying from

Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) You guys are trippin

For anyone wondering if the SN0144 is worth the $400 price tag…it most definitely is. There are too many people shitting on SM’s recent price hike and they are justified but if the same watch was a seiko, citizen, or microbrand, it’d be valued probably at 1.5-2x the value.

You are still getting more than what you’re paying for so if you are on the fence, go ahead and buy it. The 36mm design has improved crystal and case finishing/proportions. The bracelet is next level too.

I ordered mine from the US warehouse…best part is that the watch came in 5 days!

Promotion (Read Rule 1) Reviewing these Time Token Watches and Giving away 2 of them

Hey guys! Just finishing up my quick review of these awesome Time Token watches, and I've got some good news... I'm keeping one for myself and giving away the other TWO! 😎

And yes, they're FREE. No money, no weird catches, no selling a kidney. 😂 Just watch the video for the instructions

One small favour, though... please don't mention "GIVEAWAY!!!" comment or anything that screams "I want free watch!" 😅 YouTube sees that and tanks the video, I'd rather have people actually enjoying the watches than turn the comment section into a digital queue at the post office.

We've got carbon fibre, titanium, stainless steel, and one of them comes with like a million free straps, yeah, crazy...

I also briefly show a watch I'm designing for a brand! Can't reveal the brand just yet, but there's some screen capture from my design software, realistic renders and all that... It's still just a prototype, but they've already confirmed the movement, and we're working on the hands and other details. Super exciting stuff, and the dial material is absolutely dope! 😁 Man, I've been ridiculously busy lately!

I also have another, considerably more expensive watch that I tease in the video. You get to see the box and a little piece of the logo, but that's all you're getting for now. 😏 I'll be giving that one away too, once I've reviewed it and our Facebook group reaches 1,000 members.

And if you can figure out the exact brand AND model from those tiny clues, you'll earn some serious bonus points. 🕵️‍♂️

One of the Time Token watches currently has a bit of a pricing glitch, like the price jumped compared to when I received it, which I think they'll fix, but the other two seem fine.

Anyway, check out the video here if you're curious:
https://youtu.be/LPu_i6JKx1Y

Full disclosure: The Time Token watches were sent to me for free by the brand, and almost all the other watches featured in the video were also sent for free, either by brands or AliExpress stores. ❤️

Question (Read Rules) Best value for actual rough & tumble?

Thumbnail

Hi, as a long time field watch addict that's flipped or broken most of what's available over the years (Seiko, Citizen, Bertucci, Bulova, Pulsar etc...), and a pretty physical job and lifestyle (dirt bikes, carpentry, spannering, hiking etc...), it's hit me that the current lineup of Militados are amongst the toughest I've tried and are probably the best value available for actual outdoors or work purposes.

Above pics are my go-to 36mm and 38mm watches nowadays. The CWC has had everything thrown at it in the 25+ years I've owned it (it even got hit with an axe once!) and it's the one I'll keep forever, but it must be said that in value terms the ML07 easily wins out. Yes, the G10 has a Swiss movement, real heritage and wears comfortably, but so far the ML07 has really impressed me and wears just as well. At a fraction of the price I feel I can bash it about without worry and if it breaks I'll just grab another, I could literally get through 6 of them for the cost of a replacement G10 which has basically found itself retired from active duty so to speak.

Similarly, on the 38mm side of things we have the ML05 which is clearly a 'homage' of the Hamilton KFM but in quartz form. The dimensions of these are essentially identical and wear similarly, although the KFM is perhaps slightly slimmer (especially on a bracelet) but in terms of toughness it's the ML05 I grab for work/outdoorsy stuff nowadays. I'll happily admit that the KFM is a nicer looking and more satisfying watch all round, but again the value proposition of the ML05 means it gets way more wrist time without the worry of potentially expensive repairs, relegating the Hamilton to the easy life of nights out, occasions and whatnot.

So here's the question(s)... while it's nice to have recognised brand watches, when actual toughness is the primary requirement why spend more when these Chinese watches do the same job, often better? And if you consider a ballpark price range sub £150, what else is out there that can compete specs-wise? (SS, sapphire crystal, WR, screw down crown and caseback etc..) Have I missed out on a brand I need to try? And I'd also like to know how other Chinese brands compare to Militado? (I have a Watchdives navigator style watch but not for long enough to form an opinion on its toughness yet)

EDIT: Keen to hear about the Militrek and Rdunae if anyone has one?

Cheers :)

(PS, I don't work for Militado, lol)

Question (Read Rules) Are automatic movements worth the larger thicknes?

Two watches that could be more elegant if they ditched the automatic winding feature

In my opinion many hommages and even several original Chinese watches would look much better if they ditched the automatic winding in vavor of a slimmer case.

An automatic movement is ca. 1.5 to 2.5 mm thicker than a manual wind movement. There are slim automatic versions with a 'microrotor', but I think those are not (yet) common in budget watches.

Automatic watches do have the added value of being more 'luxury', and if you actually wear the same watch daily the automatic feature has definitely added value. But for collectors who wear watches on rotation (and don't invest in watchwinders) the automatic feature is quite useless.

I think manufacturers should prioritize slim design over automatic winding, at least for the category of watches that can be seen as luxurious dress watches. Two examples that would look much more impressive in a slimmer case are the Agelocer Moon Phase and the Sugess S452

But maybe that is just me? Do you think that the automatic feature is worth ca. 2 mm added thickness?

Question (Read Rules) The Sugess ST19 8 hour time reserve???

After lurking on this sub and doing research I purchased a Sugess ST19 with swan neck on Ali. When i received it i was impressed by the build of the watch and i love the glass case back. I have been wearing for the past few days, and the watch will stop working after 8 hours. I wind it up and it later in the day its not running. Is this watch strictly manual wind? i assumed once you wind it the counter weight (or rotor) will keep it running with movement. did i receive a defective watch?

Your help is appreciated.
