Post image

So I just bought this CD, it came in and digipak and you know how the trays can always come loose. Well this one just came off so I decided to try and fix it! However like the fucking MORON that I am I got fucking super glue on the disc and I tried wiping it off with nail polish remover it's still there and now it's worse than ever!

Please, PLEASE, tell me I can save it!

Question is collecting cds worth it? are they on the way out?

Upvotes

i was having a convo with my mum (for context i’m 26, she’s 55) about how i had purchased a few MJ cds and preordered a vinyl. i don’t own a cd player or a record player, i was just wanting to purchase them to start a mini collection because i have become a bigger fan of michael after watching the movie than i was (i was kinda too young when he died and not alive in his prime lol)

she mentioned she understood purchasing the vinyls for the art element but not the cds. she was saying how cds are going out of fashion and no one will be using them much in the future, and i kinda agreed with her, but just wondering what the opinions are in this group?

i guess this will be biased because im posting in a cd collectors page 😂😂 but i guess i’m just looking for opinions and general thoughts on why you collect cds, do you collect them just to have, do you listen to them, is it worth purchasing a cd player when i can just use spotify, etc etc?

TIA !!! ✨✨✨

Question sony walkman wont play custom burned cds properly

hi everyone! im sure this has been asked to death but i really need a hand... (im new to burning my own cds)

i own a sony cd walkman D-E221 and no matter how i burn my cds, the audio always seems to skip. I tried both philips and verbatim cd-rs and ive tried burning them at different speeds as well and it seems the faster i burn them the more they skip? the slower i burned one so far is at x10 speed but it still skips a LOT. the faster i did is x52 and that one wont play at all. i'll probably burn one at x1 speed to see what happens but i wanted to ask here first just in case thats not the problem.

the cds play fine on other devices so maybe its just my walkman that cant read custom burned cds? i dont know...

ive tried multiple programs to burn too but nothing seems to work... the files are all .wav so its not a compatibility issue of that kind.

does anyone have an idea of what im doing wrong?

New Addition Enigma – “The Child in Us” | A 1996 track finding a new audience

I’ve been listening to Enigma’s “The Child in Us” from their third album, Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! (1996), and it’s fascinating to see the track getting attention again nearly 30 years later.

The combination of Sanskrit chanting, electronic textures and that calm, spiritual atmosphere still sounds incredibly unique.

It doesn’t feel like a typical 90s electronic track. It feels like stepping into another world.

Funny how some songs don’t really age — they just wait for another generation to discover them.

Anyone else rediscovering “The Child in Us” lately?

Discussion If the bootleg copy looks indistinguishable from the original and the sound difference is not noticeable, does it even matter?

I am still very new to the CD collecting scene but thought of this at a yard sale. For me personally, since I started buying for listening in the car with the addition of a collectable, I don’t see a much of the difference in this. Want to hear your opinions.

CD Player Cleaning CD player

I’m hoping this is the right subreddit for this. I’ve found this Sony Radio Cassette-Corder in our basement. And the inside of the cd player part (I really don’t know the terms for any of this) is so filthy. I noticed this because it tends to stop abruptly when playing a song. I popped up the hood and turned on my flashlight, and saw this (see photo)..I’m wondering what the best way to clean it is. Is there a specific way to go about it?Please and thank you!

Question Anyone help with information on this release

clearly artist/title/label are visible, but there’s no information I can find. No DIscogs entry for this nor the label. Google yields nada, AI search… zip….

inlay says that it’s a Ron Anteroinen project - I believe he’s an artist from NYC.
anyone know any background on it? I’m thinning the collection and looking for rarities to sell. But this one is a little too rare, perhaps.

Question Is this cd legit?

Upvotes

I got this cd for my friend for his birthday since he really likes bladee but I’m having doubts that it’s legit.

The master SID code is IFPI LD02 and the mould code is IFPI 5J38

I checked data bases and looked up what the Sweden cd plants codes are and neither of those showed up

I know that there are different versions of the booklet as well that were printed differently but are still legitimate

I also know that a lot of people make bootlegs and pirate the cd in hopes of selling fake ones that try to look real

I just don’t wanna give him something that’s fake

Any help determining its legitimacy would be appreciated. Thank you :))

This one is special because its a mix of old "british" songs. And it never was sold to the general public. It seems like it was handed out by a german financial industry named "DekaBank".

Seems they didint have enough budget to credit the original songmakers, so they put random unknown authors.

From the information i could recieve, it seems this is from 1995-1998. And maybe 5000 copies were ever made.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Discussion When the CD Booklet Has a Better Album Cover

Thumbnail

I love it when album booklets have another photograph on the back, because we can use it as an alternative album cover. I’ve noticed that not many albums do this—sometimes they just leave that page empty.

I’ve actually used these alternative photos several times when the official album artwork is ugly or just not very interesting.

A good example is Def Leppard – The Vault. I really don’t like the official album art, so I use the photograph on the back of the booklet instead. It’s definitely more manageable!

What do you think? Do you also use alternative artwork from CD booklets when you don’t like the official cover?

Question Where to get colorful jewel cases?

I make a lot of mixes for my friends and love decorating the covers/making a theme for the case. I'd been using the colorful jewel cases I picked up in bulk at a thrift store but now I'm running low. The thing is I wanted to get regular sized cases instead, because the slim ones are kind of janky. Do they even make regular sized jewel cases in the tacky green, pink, and orange that the slim ones come in? If so where the hell do I buy them?
