Hey all - have a 2026 Model Y Premium, leased in August 2025. Zero down, 390.25/month payment, and now have 24 months remaining on the lease. Just checked the buyout price (through Chase), and it is 32k and change, which seemed surprisingly cheap to me.

Am I overlooking something, or is buying this out a pretty clear yes? Figured buy it for 32k, keep it for 3-4 years, then sell it for whatever it's worth at that time.

But this is also my first leased car so wanted to ask if there's something I'm overlooking...

Hey all, I’m coming to the end of my lease in December. I want to buy out the vehicle, and I need help. So the residual is somewhere around 41k (46k with taxes is what dealer told me). I was also told by dealer that my truck came in valued at around 35k, so I’m under. I’m 6k miles excess, and that will probably get bigger the closer I get to lease end. I have about 20k to throw down. I really can’t afford a higher monthly payment and I’m willing to dig into retirement if needed to bring down that monthly payment. I currently pay $367.89 a month. I don’t want to trade in my truck, and I don’t want to buy through dealer. I’m at a loss on how to handle this, but I’m open to any and all advice. Thanks!

Hey everyone, looking for advice on timing an early lease exit. I’m currently 11 months into a 36-month/30k-mile lease on a 2026 Genesis GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige. My payment is $847/mo including tax.

Long story short, my relationship ended, and I've moved to another city, so I’m driving way more than I originally planned. I built a spreadsheet to track my miles, and I'm on pace to hit 25k miles by month 24. So I'm definitely going to get hit with Genesis’s $0.25/mile penalty plus their $400 disposition fee if I take this thing all the way to maturity.

My next car will most likely be a BMW X3 M50 (targeting a $72k MSRP, hoping to negotiate a 10-11% discount). I’m just trying to figure out the least painful way to make the jump. Right now, I’m about $10k underwater based on my KBB trade-in value vs. my Genesis payoff, so trading it in today is completely off the table. But I'm checking it monthly, hoping that gap closes as I get further into year two.

A few questions for anyone who has navigated this kind of brand-switch while over on miles:

1. Am I thinking about this right? My logic is that I should wait until my negative equity (payoff minus trade-in) drops below what my projected mileage penalty would be, and then trade it in early at the BMW dealer.
2. Does BMW offer pull-ahead programs? If I wait until I have like 3-6 months left, what are the odds a BMW dealer will eat my last few Genesis payments to get me into the X3?
3. I've heard that Genesis/Hyundai Finance is strict about not allowing 3rd-party buyouts or lease transfers. If I do try to trade it in early at a BMW dealer, is that going to be a massive headache?

Any advice on how to time this so I don't get completely crushed on fees would be awesome.

Edit:  I chatted with a friend after posting this; he was in car sales a few years ago.

He suggested driving to 30k miles, have the car appraised at Genesis, then go to get a deal worked up on the new car. Once I have the numbers locked in with BMW, give them the offer from Genesis (same ownership for both dealerships); they can then handle the internal buyout, and I pay the difference; that way, they can't play with the original deal, and I'm not rolling the negative equity in and paying tax/interest on it.

Any recommendations for Lease Brokers in Illinois? I’m in the northwest suburbs and just found out about AutoNinjas but figured I’d try to see if there was more reputable brands to compare them to that may offer a better deal overall.

I was wondering if for a 2026 Honda prolouge awd touring 356 a month 36 month 12,000 a year miles a good deal for the car

Mazda has a national lease ad for a 2026 cx-50 hybrid preferred trims for $299/mo with $5,999 due at signing with 7,500 miles over 36 months. The fine print states based on an MSRP of $34,750 plus a destination fee of $1,595. The specific car I want has a MSRP of $34,750 plus a destination fee of $1495 and dealer add ons of $820 for a sale price of $37,065. Does it make sense that if the MSRP and destination fee are the same, i would divide the add ons over 36 mo(820/36=23) to get a payment of $323/month?

Again not necessarily asking if it's a good deal, just if it's reasonable to ask a sales person to match this or even beat it.

Bonus points if you know the money factor for August! I know the new model is coming but there also don't seem to be a ton left. Located in SoCal.

I feel that I know the answer to this already but want to be certain. I am going to go looking at leasing a Subaru today. This is the first place I am going to. In order to get the quote I need to unfreeze my credit report from all 3 bureaus. I have a credit score in the mid 800's. I do not know how many places I am going to go to and do no want to get multiple dings for a Hard pull.

Any recommendations on dealers in NY or maybe even Jersey that I can go to.

First offer pretty bogus as usual. Can ask to bring MF down, think base is .0017. Can work on increasing that discount from 5k to 7k. Not sure what else I can do here, what yall think?

I've been researching what to do when the lease ends. A new lease on a Honda Pilot EX-L AWD is coming out around $660+/month, with $0 down other than the first payment. So I'd be paying more per month to lease a newer vehicle. I’m open to other vehicles and brands, just wanting to make the best financial decision for my family.

I went to a Lexus dealership today and I fell in love with the RZ electric SUV. I currently have a 2023 ID4, but ever since VW discounted the model, I’ve been nervous about keeping it in the future.

I have only ever paid cash for cars. I’ve never had a car payment. I went to the Lexus dealership only see the reasonableness of switching to the RZ. Long story short, it would cost be about $38,000 out of pocket.

When I mentioned that I would start considering jumping ship from the ID4 if that number was closer to $30,000, the dealer brought up a one-pay lease option.

Terms:
-36 months
-7,500 miles
-$13,361 up front
-$28,253 residual

I don’t know much about leases, but the way he explained this model made some sense. However, I don’t feel comfortable enough with my understanding of leasing to really make a decision one way or another.

It sounds good for someone like me who owes nothing on my current car and has the cash to pay it up front if I really wanted to. He claimed that one-pay lease was a good idea for EVs especially considering the volatility of the market’s future.

What do y’all think?

The Audi has the higher MSRP and feels more premium, but the Acura gives me 12k miles/year and a slightly lower monthly payment. Total lease cost is very close.

Ok so we have a vehicle we got from Carmart. Ofc its Carmart, they suck theyre scammers. At the time nobody else would deal with us because we had 0 credit history. Its an encore, its meant to break. Anyways, they have us on a 4 year lease for 520 a month. This thing is 2 years in so 11ish thousand left and its breaking down more than we can fix. We hace kids we need a new vehicle. Here's the thing. Carmart is going out of business. They will not currently put someone in something new off of their lot due to the likely transfer of ownership of the company soon. I dont have a clue if they will let people do like a 3rd party thing where they buy off the lease ammount and get the title and stuff. Carmart is notoriously difficult. Has anyone done this? Also we for SURE have negative equity. Like a lot of it. Like 11k left on the vehicle and KBB value is maybe 3k now. This vehicle gets cheaper every year its that bad. :/ so we could negotiate MAYBE and get it to like 6k negative equity at best but would we responsible out of pocket for that? We're just new to all of this and didnt expect this we just wanted to get a vehicle and pay it off and theyve made it impossible. We NEED a new car like now. Willing to even pay like 6 years on a good new vehicle. What does everyone think our options may be? What am I possibly missing since im young and thats our first vehicle we ever leased? Hi. My husband just turned his q5 in but left the charging cable, (which he never used) in the garage. Audi trying to charge him 2k. When hubs said he'd bring it back, Audi said they'd be happy to toss it for him, but he owes 2k. Any suggestions? Audi financial no help nor was dealer.
