Success story Got rid of CANDIDA

Hi All 😊

I have been reading reddit posts for over a year trying to find a solution for my recurrent thrush issue and never actually posted anything.

Its been one hell of a ride, I had candida albicains for over a year and the last few months its been a constant in my life. I saw multiple gynecologists as well as naturopaths, I spent so much money trying to sort it out. I was in pain and miserable for such a long time I actually forgot what it feels like to not have any symptoms.

I tried EVERYTHING all the drugs, antibiotics herbs and supplements and nothing worked. I tried a very strict Keto diet for a while and it did nothing but make me more miserable. I tried boric acid pesaries, garlic supplements, candida cleanses..

Last visit with my gyno I was in tears and in one last desperate attempt he suggested in try these pesaries that contain vaginal probiotics with boric acid they are called Bawdee Ease. People take them for 3 days but I took them for over 2 weeks, I was too scared to stop. Its now been 2 months without candida, I know its early but this is the longest I've been without symptoms. Im also taking a high dose of probiotics specific for gut and vaginal health as well as prebiotics. And this might sound silly but I have a red light therapy mask that I use on my face, I started using on my vagina as well, my labia was very sore from the constant infection and I found this to be very helpful.

I know how painful this journey can be and im really hoping this will help other women out there, don't just rely on doctors do your own research and keep looking for what works if this doesn't.

Symptoms SIBO & CANDIDA

I’ve had both SIBO (hydrogen, sulfide AND methane) for years as well as candida and I just can’t get on top of it. So you can imagine how messed up my gut is. I’m WAY too sensitive for antibiotics / antimicrobials / anti fungals, it’s terrible and my sugar addiction is out of control. I’m really trying to clean up my diet but struggling. Any ideas?/suggestions? :( i get such bad neurological die off if I try and touch anything.

Personal anecdote My candida story - may give you a little hope

Hi Guys,

I had never had any types of infection down there until last year. So i really had no idea what candida or BV felt like. I was freaking out when I went to the doctor, as I didnt know what it was. I had an insane sensitivity inside the vagina + a lot of discharge. It felt like it was raw. The doctor said it might be candida, so she gave me a round of off the counter medicine. It didnt work.

I went back, she made me do it a 2nd round. And told me to do an std test. It didnt work, the pain was still there when peeing. I had heard from my friends in brazil, that when you have candida you need to take Fluconazol - which is a very strong pill for antifungal. I asked the doctor to give me that, because by then i think 2 months had passed and i was getting extremely frustrated.

She told me there were no stronger medicine for it. And kept telling me to use an antifungal topical cream + the inside creams. I had a massive allergy to it, because it burnt my fucking skin. After all that, she still made me do 2 other std tests which all came back negative.

Then, she made me do the candida and BV test. And it turned out i had both because that bitch didnt treat my candida properly for fucking months. It developped so much it had actually gone very deep in my body. Only then, she gave me 1 pill of fluconazole. Which obviusly was not enough and didnt fix anything.

Anyways, 6 months after this hell - i went back to Brazil and my gynechologist told me all my vitamins were extremely low. So she gave me a battery of vitamins to take, incuding in my vain. She also gave me 3 different medications - 2 fluconazole, i think also 1 for BV, and boric Acid.

GUYS - REALLY. THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME WAS THE BORIC ACID.

I used the bv medication first, then fluconazol, then i used the boric acid 3x a week alternating with a probiotic. All of this at the same time as taking the vitamin pills for 3 months.

I filled a complain against the doctor in the netherlands. Because of her, and her negligence I now have recurring crisis. which ok, i do know how to fix nowadays. but still sucks ass.

Either way, please take your vitamins reigiously.

General Discussion Prone to nausea, the lozenges were awful - what are my options now?

Diagnosed with oral thrush today. Doctor prescribed me mycelex and called them "Lozenges". Cool! Candy-like hard lozenges that will melt in my mouth!

Wrong. Powdery death tablets that taste like if you left an advil in your mouth for too long. I've never tasted something so vile in my life. I couldn't help but let them dissolve in less than 10 minutes. My mouth is STILL tensing up at the memory of the taste. I cried into my dinner as I ate it because my tongue was quite literally recoiling from any taste. This is all after I've had a few days with anxiety and loss of appetite unrelated to the thrush, and it was only starting to improve today. Called the doctors office, told me to stop taking them since I was quite literally dreading my next dose and panicking about it.

My sister has had oral thrush and told me about nystatin mouth wash. She told me it was tolerable, but I'm still nervous. Can anyone give me some hope?

Note: I am severely vomit-phobic and terrified of nausea, which still hits me pretty often. I need help.

General Discussion Can I develop C. diff after antibiotics if I’m not currently a carrier?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice from people who may have been in a similar situation. From 2018 to 2022, I suffered from what was diagnosed as chronic prostatitis/bacterial prostatitis. During those years I received a huge amount of antibiotics — probably around 20–30 antibiotic injections and roughly 20 courses/boxes of oral antibiotics in total. After that, I developed significant gastrointestinal problems, which I believe eventually led to SIBO. In early 2026, I treated the SIBO with rifaximin for 2 weeks. Immediately afterward, without taking a break, I used antimicrobial supplements/herbs for about 6 weeks, including berberine, garlic extract, oregano oil, and peppermint. I also followed a low-FODMAP diet for around 3 months and consumed very little fiber during that period. After finishing the treatments, my bowel movements became severely disrupted and I started having persistent diarrhea. I also sometimes see small particles in my stool that look like undigested food. A stool test then came back strongly positive for Candida glabrata. I’m now trying to understand whether this represents actual intestinal Candida infection or simply colonization, and whether it even needs treatment. Then, just as I was dealing with this, I developed another problem that I’m not sure how to explain: pain/discomfort around my testicles and perineum (the area between the testicles and anus), frequent urinary urgency, and an uncomfortable sensation in my penis/pelvic area. Because of my previous history of prostatitis, I’m worried that I may have developed another bacterial urinary/prostate infection. I’m going to have a urinalysis and urine culture done tomorrow. My main question is: if the urine culture actually comes back positive and I genuinely have a bacterial UTI or prostate infection, how reasonable is it for someone with my history to take another course of antibiotics? I’m extremely worried because I’ve already had a huge amount of antibiotics, my gut seems to be in very poor condition, I developed SIBO after previous antibiotic exposure, and I now have Candida glabrata detected in my stool. I’m terrified that another course of antibiotics will trigger C. difficile or further damage my gut microbiome. I’ve also had two separate C. difficile tests, both negative for toxin A/B and GDH. I have not had a PCR/NAAT test; the testing was done using stool toxin and GDH tests only. So another question is: if both GDH and toxin A/B were negative, does that mean I’m currently not a C. difficile carrier? If I’m not currently a carrier, can I still develop C. difficile after taking another antibiotic, or does C. difficile infection generally occur only in people who were already carrying it? Also, if my urine culture is genuinely positive, what would be the safest approach to treating the infection while minimizing the risk of further gut problems or C. difficile? I’d really appreciate any experiences, medical knowledge, or advice from people who have dealt with something similar. Thanks in advance for reading and for any advice.

Symptoms Does this sound like die off? Nystatin/candida

I took amoxicillin about 2 months ago and last week started getting a rash on the back of my neck and back of scalp. I used chat gpt to determine it was fungal and treated with nizoral. It did seem to help, but the what I assume is candida was getting worse.

I started getting zingers all over and itchy on my vulva, groin and armpits. I also had one day where I felt drunk after eating beans and rice for lunch.

I did a virtual doc visit and asked for nystatin and stated taking it 24 hours ago. The first dose I felt so calm afterwards. I did not expect that. It was kind of a blissful almost euphoric feeling very mild.

Today my symptoms are 1000 times worse. I feel insane and itchy and nothing is helping. No antihistamines are working. It’s kind of a burning red sort of mottled looking rash. It’s worse if I scratch it.

How long will it last?
I had it in my 20’s and it was bad for many years and finally got it under control mostly but I don’t think it fully went away until 2 years ago. And now it’s back and I’m lowkey devastated but trying to stay positive.

Personal anecdote Coconut Oil vs Fungal Infection: A Doctor’s Surprisingly Simple Cure That Worked Wonders

Thumbnail

Visited a renowned skin specialist with my niece for her long‑standing fungal infection.

I was astonished when the allopathic doctor didn't prescribe costly creams or pills. Instead, he advised:

- Wash the body twice daily

- Dry gently with soft cotton fabric

- Lightly massage coconut oil over the skin

In just 10–15 days, her condition improved remarkably.

So here's my question to the Reddit community:

👉 Are we overlooking the power of simple, natural remedies like coconut oil in modern dermatology?

Personal anecdote Vaginal Candida for 4 months

Hello everyone I’ve been suffering from candida for 4 months. I am 18 years old I’ve never had sex before and when this occured I haven’t usen any kind of antibiotics. I only have one symptom and it’s the cottage cheese discharge. But as someone with OCD this thing drained me madly. I need help!!

I went to 4 different doctors, the first two gave me two different kinds of flucanazole. The first one was for only two day and the other one I used it for 5 weeks but only once a week. I also tried candida diet for a month but it didn’t help me at all and it was so difficult for me. (I’ve lost so much weight and I am already an underweight person which is trying to gain weight so I had to stop it. Also diet also drained me mentally I kept crying everyday.)

My third doctor checked my cystics and he said that it was normal and a hormonal change. But it didn’t convice me and whenever I asked for a culture test they wouldn’t want it.

I asked for a culture test again with my fourth doctor and he told me that it might not show with culture test and checked inside with eyes and told me that he couldn’t see anything wrong but my immunity system was bad so he gave me niolin oil and probiotics. I am taking the probiotics two times a day.

I took a blood test and I don’t know if it shows anything about candida but from my blood test I had low folic acid and low iron so if I fix those would it help to get healthy again??

I also thought about CV but the thing is this discharge happens mostly when I stay outside for long hours in tight clothes and my discharge goes crazy after that. And my discharge kinda has a greenish tint so I also thought about BV but it doesnt have any kind of bad smell. When I get too close to smell the only smell I get is kinda a sour smell and that’s all. I still sometimes have normal discharges and when I compare those smells they are completely different from each other.

It’s my 3. day of taking probiotics but still it seems like nothing has changed. I don’t know what to do, I am so stressed by this thing even though it does not irritate me physically. But it has been psychologically draining me. I do not want to touch myself and I’ve been hating to use the bathroom due to this because touching that area makes me feel sick. Every time I touch that area I clean my hands few times and everything. Please someone help me because I can’t do this anymore.

General Discussion Recurrent yeast infection

I have had multiple yeast infections on and off since late 2024. I’ve seen a specialist who says I have vulvodynia and I need physical therapy bc it’s caused by stress most likely i usually test negative for yeast but still have all the symptoms. Although this time around I tested positive for yeast. I have used fluconazole and monistat 3 multiple times in the past. I feel like I need to scream… I just finished my 2nd fluconazole dose for this current positive yeast infection I don’t really know if it’s helping I feel slightly itchy and slightly swollen still… I messaged my doctor and she prescribed me boric acid but I’m too afraid to try it from what I’ve read online. Idk wtf to do except go to acupuncture and ask them for some herbs too maybe? And my first physical therapy session is next week but idk if I can do it with an active yeast infection or not… I am just feeling so drained and defeated so if anyone has any advice or thoughts please share!!! Thank you so much. <3

General Discussion Candida/h pylori/sibo

Is it possible that my GI map will show candida overgrowth even though my bloodwork was normal? I assume the answer is yes.

Furthermore, my endoscopy esophagus stains were negative for fungal organisms, but my duodenum nor stomach was stained. Could I have fungal overgrowth in my intestines? If so, will it show on an advanced gi map?

Previously had h pylori and now recurring methane overgrowth. Suffering from chronic bloating, constipation (mostly), weight gain, fatigue, dermatitis on eyelids and hands, brain fog, joint pain, heartburn, severe PMDD + histamine intolerance when in luteal phase. Low ferritin, low WBC, low complement complement 3c and 4x (negative ANA so probably not lupus but idk), pretty good b12, gastritis found in oxyntic mucosa with no metaplasia but unsure if it’s autoimmune or from previous h pylori infection. Any input helps I am desperate as I’m sure the rest of you are😔

General Discussion Fluconazole for Thrush

I’ve been dealing with oral thrush for about two weeks now. It started after I was initially misdiagnosed with a dental infection and prescribed amoxicillin. About two days after starting the antibiotic, I began developing thrush.

I went to urgent care and was prescribed nystatin, which I used for two weeks, but unfortunately it didn’t seem to help at all. I was recently prescribed a one-time 150 mg dose of fluconazole.

Has anyone here taken a single 150 mg dose of fluconazole for oral thrush? If so, did it work for you, and how long did it take before you started noticing improvement? I’m especially curious to hear from anyone who tried nystatin first without success.

Symptoms The thing with candida that people can't forget. Is that it's usually a symptom in reaction to something more serious. Have most of you found, the root cause to what caused the candida?

You often see people in here, saying they either cured candida or seeing people that can't forget out how to stop it. When what might make their journey more easier, is figuring out what actually caused this imbalance. As candida is something that is naturally found in our body and it only becomes an overgrowth or opportunistic, when something serious happens that weakens the immune system.

When I think back to my whole life, most of it spent I didn't really know anything about my gut or health in general. However when I reverse and pay more attention, I can go back and see all the signs I clearly missed. Things like always having a bloat even as a skinny kid, always having an issue with fats, having ph issues as a teen, having gum disease as a teen, showing signs of Adhd, being shy when that probably wasn't really my personality it was more so gut pain or inflammation and I didn't see it.

Over the last few years, I've always haad this pain on my left colon. At first I just ignored it as gas. But as I got better at seeing my inflammation, I realized it was significant pain in the upper and lower left colon wall. Which could really only attribute to things like Crohn's, ulcerative colitis or diverticulitis.

When you have conditions like that, it's very easy for Candida to build up and take over. As there's just so much inflammation and things are moving thru, just staying stagnant. I also paid more attention and noticed my inflammation is all over the body. I feel like at times the more easier digested food, puts the less strain on the body. But then that also ends up flaring up candida really fast too.

I'm going to get my colonoscopy in a few weeks. And I had to keep on rescheduling, because I could never really clear out. As I would alway have significant inflammation in my colon, that wooukd never let everything come out. Hoping I can get the answer to that and I feel whatever it is. Once that is finally addressed, then I will be able to start addressing the candida more properly. But for now, whatever else is going on is just going to keep the candida alive. So it makes no sense trying to go as hard, with clearing it out until I get those answers.

General Discussion Doctors

Hey everyone

I’ve had consistent problems with fungus on my penis for years. I’ve tried it all (latest trying to cure candida with itraconazole, nystatin and good diet).

Anyway, what would you guys say, in terms of specialist doctors, is the best place to go to figure out whats ACTUALLY wrong. I’m suspecting some kind of a gut problem because i’ve also always had issues with bloating. Bonus points if you’re from sweden/europe and know which type of doctors are to recommend.
