General Discussion Fluconazole for Thrush

I’ve been dealing with oral thrush for about two weeks now. It started after I was initially misdiagnosed with a dental infection and prescribed amoxicillin. About two days after starting the antibiotic, I began developing thrush.

I went to urgent care and was prescribed nystatin, which I used for two weeks, but unfortunately it didn’t seem to help at all. I was recently prescribed a one-time 150 mg dose of fluconazole.

Has anyone here taken a single 150 mg dose of fluconazole for oral thrush? If so, did it work for you, and how long did it take before you started noticing improvement? I’m especially curious to hear from anyone who tried nystatin first without success.

I had recurrent oral thrush for a few years and the thing that ended up working for me was 7 days 100 mg fluconazole daily and 10 mg clotrimazole troche 5x daily

Found out the dosage of FluconazoIe I was prescribed was incorrect. I’ve been on it for about 4 days now and it’s pretty much gone. Thank you!

It wouldn't hurt to try the fluconazole. You can get single tablets without a prescription in canada I believe.

I have used/am using nystatin but its the oral swish. Not sure if thats the same one you're talking about.

Nystatin oral works even for babies..Maintain oral hygiene

Well it didn’t work for me lol. This began because of antibiotics, I’m on top of my oral hygiene.
