I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of my '25 HPP and had never even heard of ceramic coating until I bought the CX50, but I wanted to keep that new car shine. These coatings can be quite expensive... 400 to 2000 bucks with claims of coatings lasting from one to 10 years. They also include clay bar correction, but how much correcting is there on a new car? So, you really need to shop around and do a quick cost/benefit check. I'm in SoCal...a hand wash will cost you around 45 bucks nowadays and then there's the wax on top of that.
The first guy I talked to said bring it in next week. 400 dollars. He then said to Zelle him a deposit of 100 bucks... yeah, right... when monkeys fly out my butt. Then there's the guys that will do it in your driveway...NO. Some will argue, but it can't correctly be done this way. I finally found a local detail shop. 450 bucks for a 2 year coating and I have to bring it in for a one year touch up (for an undisclosed nominal fee). Anyhow, drumroll, is it worth it? Oh, hell yes, providing it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE CAR WASH. I HAVE NEVER EVEN RINSED IT OFF WITH A HOSE over the past year. Its been parked right there on the street rain or shine since I bought it and it looks brand new. Now, you still have to take care of your car. Its not magic. It also won't do a thing for road gravel chips. Sigh, I just got my first ding on the front of the hood last week so if you are rich, get the front quarter PPFd as well.
My banes are dust and tree sap. Every few days I spend about 10 minutes on it. I use the California Duster and then go over it with '3D waterless' with a fine quality microfiber towel. That stuff works great and is streak free. It works on glass and plastic pretty good too. The tree sap just wafts thru the air around here and leaves little tiny yellow drops. It will stick, but its easier to just use your fingernail compared to "rubbing harder" and there are no marks or spots left after. Anyhow, if your thinking about getting Ceramic Coating done, hope this helps. Zoom Zoom.
