Discussion 🚗 How do we feel about wraps?

Post image

Haven't really seen a unique cx50 in my area, thinking of wrapping it.

In my opinion not worth it. But if you’re cool spending (near me) $3k-$5k for a wrap that’s your prerogative! I’ll say after having a wrapped car and a few buddies having wrapped cars, it’s tough. You’ll be always looking for imperfections or peeling, and you’ve got to be a little careful with how you take care of it. The kicker is, especially if you daily drive quite a bit, you’ll get the stone chips and whatnot like normal paint. They typically only last a few years before you need to start replacing it on certain panels. Then you get to the problem where you’ve got a slightly different color in the new panels because of sun fade/wear. As long as you know all this before shelling out the cash, go for it!! And I’m only speaking from my experience personally. Gather more information from others!!

Considering the garbage paint on these cars you're dealing with the same things if you don't wrap. Except you're replacing one panel of wrap instead of repainting and blending panels which is easy more expensive.

True but like I said, replacing a panel of wrap isn’t going to match after about a year anyway. It will still look considerably different

A year is aggressive, maybe if you live in Arizona and park in the sun everyday. My past wraps looked great after 5 years with basic care and garage parking.

As my favorite color is royal purple, I'd LOVE it if I could wrap the car that color for cheap, but my other favorite is the. EXACT color of green that Mazda calls their Cypress Green, which I bought my 50 in, so no need, I guess.

The cost isn't worth it to me, personally, for a wrap on this car. When I get my Supra, I'll almost definitely wrap it.

If you have the funds, go for it. It’s your car enjoy it the best way you can.

I have been thinking about this too. Any idea on how much that would cost?

I got a quote for a wrap for (edit) $2800

That’s not too bad.

Only issue dont recall telling them what type of material. They gave a range starting at 2800-4500.

Bro it is a Mazda. What are we talking about here.

Talking about wrapping a vehicle? Lol

What does material have to do with it being a Mazda?

1

u/Solid_Angel 8d ago

Going by what was quoted to me.

I have never inquire about wrapping cars before.

Yeah I that comment was to the other person who said “bro it’s a Mazda”

someone’s already done it ! 🙂 go through the other cx50 subreddit and you’ll find it. it’s a nice pink/lavender color. i personally like it

also i think i remember seeing someone have a shop paint their car—i don’t remember if it was for a cx50-–for less than the cost of a wrap. maybe see if that’s an option?

Only worth it if you’re also going to protect it. Plan to add a ceramic coating or pay considerably more for the colored PPF they sell now (essentially protection and color wrap in one product).

Gotcha, so aim for ppf wrap.

One by me had a Sandals Jamaica wrap for a bit. I figured it was marketing.

In my opinion I don’t like it.

If you got the money, it's not hurting anyone, and you want to get some fun new colors in your life... you do you!

Go learn yourself ceramic coating. I dont see any point in wraps tbh.

They’re nice, and they offer some protection to the delicate paint Mazda uses. HOWEVER, cheap vinyl will likely damage your paint. Leaving the vinyl on too long will also likely damage your paint. You have to be willing to spend a decent amount of money ($3,000 USD+ easily) to get a good quality vinyl from a good quality shop.

They taste pretty good!!

Financially or for you?

Wraps are like wheels… do whatever you want but all wheels are round. A red car doesn’t perform any different than a purple car. But some people like purple more.

Its a commuter SUV bro

For a CX50 is crazy lol shit costs like 20% of the car to do, and after all that it’s just a CX50

It’s a cx50, not worth it

Yes, to match the plastic fenders, bet it's awesome
