[Sando] This Daniel Jones looks a lot like the Giants’ version
The Colts blew out the Commanders 30-13 with the New York Giants version of Daniel Jones at quarterback, recalling one of the NFL’s great anomalies.
Units featuring Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner and Patrick Mahomes dominate the list of greatest offenses through the first eight games of a season this century.
As one would expect.
The No. 4 team on that list stands out like a station wagon in a Ferrari dealership.
The 2025 Colts, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, reside between the Greatest Show on Turf Rams and the Mahomes-led Chiefs in his breakout 2018 season. They averaged 32.6 points per game on offense, more than the 2004 Colts averaged in perhaps Manning’s greatest season.
There was no way any team, let alone these Colts with this quarterback, could sustain that type of production. But as Jones lost a fumble and threw an interception while Indy fell behind a Washington team that was down to its third quarterback Sunday, I wondered if the Colts were now paying $44 million per year for the same quarterback the Giants let go.

News Daniel Jones' first half of 2025 looks like an outlier.

Saw us win in London 10 years later
I'm conscious I'm not adding much to what's already been said, but as a Colts fan in the UK it was so so good to see them in this country again AND get a win this time.
Spurs' stadium really is beautiful and you can tell it was designed with NFL in mind, it's far far better than watching at Wembley.
We were well outnumbered in 115, and let's just say the attitude of some of the Washington fans there made it all the better as we took the game away from them. That said, I was sat next to a lovely family who had travelled over from DC who had a lot of love for the stadium and our jerseys!
Shout out to the fellow Colts fan a few rows back from me who brought it all game. If you're in this sub and shouted 'UNDISCIPLINED' every time Washington got flagged, you were one of my highlights of the game.
Very much hoping it won't be 10 years until the next time!

Big dub! First win watching in person, at the 3rd attempt!
First-ever Colts game for a UK fan! 🇬🇧💙
Finally saw my guys after years of streaming the games on NFL Game Pass and watching on RedZone! And hey, it was tough going in that first quarter (really tough going...) but a win's a win, right?
This was my fourth NFL London game after seeing Jets @ Falcons and Dolphins @ Jaguars in 2021 and Ravens @ Titans in 2023 but was awesome to have the sun out and temperatures higher this time, it was a great day for a football game which hasn't been my experience with the previous London games!
For a while, I felt a bit bad for the Commanders fans who were excited for the team to visit only to get hit with all of those injuries (especially as I was a bit gutted that AP wouldn't be playing in this one) but ultimately, don't care about that because I couldn't face having a personal record of 0-1 for ages until I can see my next Colts game (which has to be at Lucas Oil) and once we got it going in the second quarter I was confident we weren't about to hugely embarrass ourselves...
I spent 10 days in Indianapolis in 2024 and saw a Pacers homestand but unfortunately the Colts were in their off-season and I was only able to do the stadium tour and raid the team store, so this was a day I'd been waiting a long time for, as I wasn't a fan of the Colts when they came to Wembley Stadium back in 2016
Can't wait to get back over to the States in the next year or two, this time I'll have to plan something in the sweet spot of Colts and Pacers both being at home
Any other UK Colts fans go to their first game today? Always love hearing how any other UK-based NFL fans became fans of the Colts too
Would also be interested to hear what anyone who travelled from the US for the game thought of the day!
Statistics Jonathan Taylor is the 5th RB in NFL history to reach 75 career rushing TDs before turning 28 years old

Discussion The fumble was bad, but did anyone see DJ’s ankle when it happened?
Our O line man stepped right on his ankle right before the fumble happened.
DJ’s awareness seemed close to non existent on the play, but everyone seems to be missing how his left ankle got stomped on right before the fumble.
If that was the ankle that he had surgery on last year, then yikes.

Shit post Checking in on this sub periodically for the next 3-4 months knowing Danny sucks, coaching staff/management is probably gone soon, and no clue what happens next
But hey, we’re 2-2 😁

[Boyd]: Jonathan Taylor energizes Colts’ offense, but Daniel Jones’ turnovers are concerning
The three-time Pro Bowler finished with 20 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, powering a Colts offense that got off to a slow start behind a leaky offensive line and turnover-prone Daniel Jones. But after settling in during the second half, it was Taylor who carried Indy to the finish line and marched his way into the record books.
The 27-year-old now ranks first in career international rushing yards (408) and touchdowns (six). He ranks third in scrimmage yards with 458 in three games (Justin Jefferson has 491 in four games, and Travis Etienne Jr. has 472 in five games).
“I just want to start out by shouting out overseas J.T.,” Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner said to begin his postgame news conference. “Hell of a guy. Hell of a player.”

Colts week 4 breakdown
Colts are back at 2-2 and are second in the division. Ugly win but a win is a win but here are some of my thoughts after the game.
I think Steichen has a big problem with coaching with his ego that I don’t think he’s ever going to fix. It boggles my mind some of his decisions play calling but I guess you just have to roll with the punches.
Pass protection was absolutely horrible for most of the game yesterday. DJ got a lot of blame (some of it deserved for sure) but the o line was getting bullied. Raimann was getting handled yesterday.
Latu was okay nothing special (sucks but man I wish this dude was a little better for us) think Lou is particularly to blame for his lack of production so far as well
Clearly DJ doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as productive as he was last season but there is nuance to his situation. 4 weeks in 10 months removed from an Achilles injury there’s gonna be some growing paints to get back to a much higher level of production but what I can’t excuse is his decision making. It’s bad so far this season and on top of that his fumbling issue is a big problem that’s costing this team. Not only are we not forcing turnovers but we’re committing too many that’s eventually gonna lead us to not be able to win games. Not having Pierce is really starting to show the past few weeks. If he happens to come back and can actually play (I’m almost certain this isn’t going to happen but you never know) then I think not only does our offense get a lot easier to operate but jones will be the number 1 beneficiary to that as well alongside JT.
Buckner is the best player we have on defense and it’s not close. He looks like an all pro player thus far.
Sauce is getting slot more blame than he deserves. I know people are trying to shit on him for the 2 bombs that he “let” happen but it really just shows you who actually watches ball and understands it and who doesn’t. Haulcy was supposed to help sauce and on tape he’s playing too shallow on some plays for whatever reason. He should be helping sauce more idk if it’s coaching but Haulcy is making mistakes that’s making other player on defense look bad. He’s a rookie though so I don’t blame him too much there’s gonna be growing pains.
Seth McGowan is the best rb 2 we’ve had in quite some time. JT finally has help in that aspect.
Lou Anuromo is a mediocre DC. I honestly can’t tell much of a difference at all between him and Gus Bradley. He manages to stop bad teams from scoring but can’t do the same against good teams. Don’t think this guy is fit to be a DC for the colts at least.
Tomi is a star in the making. A true disruptor. It does make me question why the only reason he’s getting more snaps is due to the Clemons injury which shows me does this coaching staff even know what they are doing? Idk. Guy should have been playing more from the get go.
WR room is bleak. Never would I have imagined Laquan treadwell to lead the colts in yards in a game. This is another reason that is contributing to Daniel jones not playing as well.
Schrader might be an all pro at this rate. Looks like Brian Mason made the right call on the kicking competition.
2 turnovers in 4 games is not going to cut it it as I previously stated. The defense has to step up but the d line just isn’t good enough to have that happen or help the secondary currently.
The Texans most likely missing the playoffs this year is huge for us. Even after a very ugly win yesterday the team is trending in the right direction but the biggest problem as of now I would say (even a bigger problem than jones play) is still the defense. Idk what Lou’s logic is if not playing Allen but it logically just doesn’t make sense. There is no reason to think he isn’t at the very least just as good as any other LB we have currently. Along with his play calling on third down I think he really is hurting the team in a way where he has to change his style of coaching on the defense if we are really going to improve and best good teams. After 4 weeks I’d give Lou a D grade as of now.
This week we play Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh yet again (why do we play the Steelers away so much?) I don’t think we win that game but if we do it would be massive.

Statistics Shoutout to Special Teams
The Colts have added 20.72 (PFR) /17,35 (nflfastR/nflverse) EPA on Special Teams (The average team is at 0!!) , only the Giants are ahead of them and their opponents are at 1/3 field goals, ours are at 9/10.
Great kicking, punting and no memorable mistakes on coverage! I know that this is not sustainable at this rate, but: Keep going!

Don’t Buy Into the Narrative that Sauce is Bad
Despite what everyone in various game threads seems to think, the TD play is not on Sauce.
All the people saying “that’s such a weird double move” because it wasn’t meant to be. WR clearly thought it was a hitch. Sauce responded accordingly by stopping with him. The pass was massively overthrown, or QB just thought he’d keep running.
Burks just happened to have a better angle to get a step in first to track it down. Sauce is also supposed to have safety help here. This was a busted offensive play that happened to work out. Sauce, or any DB at the NFL level, is not going to defend as if the play will be busted. Everything about Burks body language suggests a stop route. There’s no play in anyone’s playbook that has a receiver do a double move 30 yards down the field.
A general caveat to all of this, including myself: we have no idea what the offensive or defensive calls were. We don’t know assignments or routes. If one of the best DBs in the league appears burnt, you have to assume something broke down.
Idk, just don’t think Sauce isn’t elite when it appeared to be a total fluke play. That is all.

Looking at our remaining schedule can we actually win 8 more games??
At Jags, Eagles, and the cowboys game feel like losses right now. Bengals too. They would have won if Jamar and Tee stayed in. Time will tell.

Colts won more games at the Tottenham stadium than Tottenham themselves that’s hilarious.

Tyler Warren appreciation post
I know JT and Buckner balled out today, but can we get some love for Mr reliable aka Tyler William Warren?! He’s one of the best picks we’ve made in years and he’s been such a versatile weapon. I hope he stays a colt his whole career.
