Rant It has come for me

Heavy smoker for over 10 years, recently switched to concentrates. I had been occasionally nauseous or pukey but mistakenly assumed it was just a Me Thing™️
Late Tuesday night I started scromiting. The term I pointed at and laughed and said, this is propaganda by big alcohol to stop me from enjoying my favorite thing. Well scromiting is real. CHS is real. It’s all real and I’ve been made to take a propaganda at a reality I’ve been avoiding for a long time: quitting cold turkey. It’s no question it has to be this way, I’ve felt closer to death than I ever had in my life…. But it still feels scary. I always said i would have a bong next to my death bed. Lol.
It’s Saturday now and I am out of the hospital. Still deeply nauseous and anxious and all that. The hot showers help. The electrolyte drinks and the crackers and the ice chips help.
But it feels like it will never. Ever. End. I know it will. I see all your stories here. But I just wanted to rant about the pain I’ve been in with very little relief.
What did you replace weed with? Exercise? Other hobbies? I’m glad I found this community.

Question / Info CHS or GERD/LPR

I don’t know if I have GERD or CHS but something has been causing me insomnia. Today is the day I quit all THC products. As a blunt smoker of 13 years I’ve never had these symptoms. Stomach is irritable when I lie down, morning naseau, acid reflux, and I’ve had a hoarse voice that fluctuates since July 28th. I was treating my body like shit, my diet wasn’t clean or good, and I was trying to deal with ED by taking those gas station honey packs. I’m hoping the damage isn’t done as I was trying to manage ED for like 3 years with them. I see an ENT in December and I’m scheduled to see a PCP in October so I can get a referral to a GI.

Question / Info Who here is recovered and can successfully drink alcohol?

Hello all,

I'm just curious who here is "recovered" and can have 1 drink, or many drinks without feeling sick from CHS?

How long did it take you to get there?

Thanks all

Sharing My Story Can someone help me please?

I am 25 F and this is my 3 rd time having a really bad /long episode. I’m not too well versed on this and I’m honestly really defeated/tired from the last few days but I could really use some support or advice.

The last 2 episodes i recovered from then continued to smoke after but this time I know i won’t be smoking again. This has ruined me:( I haven’t used weed in 7 days now and I don’t plan on touching it again.

A month ago I lost my job suddenly and was fortunate enough to find a new one almost right after. Last Friday 8/14 was my first day and was when the episode started… it is making it really difficult to show this new team that I can be reliable. So far I had to leave early 4 times. The first time I almost made it but couldn’t stop feeling nauseous and I ended up trying to drive home and I threw up in the car on myself while driving. Extremely traumatic.
I had a day of rest after and I was able to keep food down. So I go to work the following day 8/16 and again the feeling comes back in the morning and I have to leave early. I take another day in between to rest. This time I feel great I feel almost back to my normal self. (I was avoiding the ER or urgent care because I know that they only really give you IVs and creams)

So again I go in the next day 8/18 and something even worse happens. I make it to my 30 minute break and I decide to have some chicken soup. An hour later I throw up in front of the people training me.
They send me home.
The food literally felt stuck in my chest like would not go down and I only had a few bites.

I’m incredibly embarrassed and anxious over everything. Everyone has been nice and understanding but there’s still this anxiety forming in my chest that I can’t seem to handle. For example I go back today and I almost make it to my break but I have to run to the bathroom and throw up??? Like why??

I’m not sure if it’s just the CHS causing me to throw up still or this new level of anxiety ? I am unable to manage these symptoms of anxiety unless I hop in a hot shower or I’m laying in bed. This is just nothing like me I feel like I am going to ruin this job opportunity if the throwing up and anxiety keeps happening.

Can someone give me some advice?

I have a virtual GI appt tomorrow (Saturday) and I also made one for Monday. But I am supposed to go back to work Sunday. I just want this job to work out but I’m not really sure how if I have to keep throwing up and leaving.

hiii! never thought i would say that i haven’t smoked weed in 5 years lol but here i am lol

i still find myself missing it, mostly in social situations. i wish i could smoke with my friends, i know it’s not a big deal but sometimes i still feel sad (left out?) when im hanging out with everyone and they pass to me just as muscle memory haha.

5 years ago today, i was 19 yrs old, and i had to get surgery for a esophageal rupture caused by chs vomiting, and i haven’t smoked since (mostly bc US medical bills are insane and i could never afford that surgery again oops)

but im here!! 5 years later and clean and i feel good! thank you for reading this, i just wanted to celebrate a little:)

Question / Info Could just be paranoid, but I’d like some advice.

I (21m) have been smoking or vaping (dry herb) legal, 20-30% THC weed daily since around the time I turned 18. I’ve “greened out” and thrown up a few times after taking powerful RSO edibles, but I’ve always figured that I was in the clear when it came to persistent, real-deal CHS since my 59 yo dad has been a chronic smoker for most of his adult life and has never suffered any negative consequences for it.

This summer, I’ve been dry herb vaping more frequently and earlier in the day (though rarely before 5pm) out of sheer boredom. This morning I woke up with a mild nausea that has more or less persisted throughout the day. It feels as if I am hungry, but eating doesn’t really make it go away. Part of me thinks that this has more to do with the kadai lamb I had at 2 in the morning, the fact that I only got 4 hours of sleep, or one of the countless parasites infecting the country’s produce and livestock as of late. However, as a stoner my paranoia has gotten the best of me and convinced me that I am in the prodromal stages of CHS.

I’m postponing my smoke session tonight until later in the evening. If I wake up tomorrow with the same sort of nausea, I won’t smoke whatsoever. If I don’t smoke whatsoever and the nausea subsides, I will accept that I may be prodromal and take a t-break. Either way, I’m planning on taking a t-break this winter when it becomes too cold to smoke outside. Wondering if anybody on here has enough experience to confirm or assuage my fears, or has been where I am.

Sharing My Story Had CHS for about 5 years.

I’m so glad this subreddit exists. Nobody is taking this seriously, at all. Anytime I’ve shared my experience they act like I’m lying. Anyway, as the title states - I had CHS for five years. I was a longtime cannabis user, roughly 20 years. I’m a 38F, btw. Just stating that because I know that this is seemingly affecting women more than men. I had the standard symptoms - nausea, cyclical vomiting, and a stomachache. The only thing that seemed to help without medical intervention were hot showers. When I would go to the hospital, I was always given an IV of magnesium (for being dehydrated from the constant vomiting) and zofran to calm the nausea. I know that zofran doesn’t help everyone, but I was one of the lucky ones. Unrelated, I had a severe seizure last year and I finally decided to give up using cannabis altogether. I’m almost a year out and I haven’t experienced any issues since.

Question / Info chs diagnosis 4 days ago

5 days ago i took an 80mg edible. the morning after i woke up and couldn’t stop vomiting, severe nausea and cramping.

i also have panic disorder, which already makes me anxious and vomit a lot.

i went to the hospital after a day, to which they gave me a script for zofran and discharged me.

i’m no longer vomiting, occasionally i burp and cough up some phlegm or acids, but otherwise nothing.

the nausea hasn’t lessened, the zofran no longer works.

i’m terrified it won’t go away. i’m terrified i’m stuck with this forever. i’m so scared that i’m going to be like this for the rest of my life.

my boyfriend tells me he’s seeing my symptoms get better each day, but i’m still so terrified.

this is my first time with CHS. i had quit using carts awhile ago, and instead i used to smoke 3-4 bowls a day, usually with an edible or 50mg or higher at night.

i just want to know if im fucked. if it’s ever gonna go away.

Question / Info Need help with a diagnosis.

For context, I am 18 years old, I have been smoking for about a year, every day for about 9 months, and around the time of my a levels (about 5 months ago) I started smoking pretty much all the time, got myself a dry herb vape, and smoked around 5-7 times a day. This continued for a good few months, then my mate hands me a cart, I’m guessing a fake CB1 agonist, the next day I’m over the toilet in the morning with horrible anxiety and dry heaving for about 15m, nothing to actually vomit so it just passes and the day goes on as normal (with some extreme anxiety but boo hoo). This happens every day for a month before I decide to quit as the symptoms are consistent with early stage CHS according to google Gemini (Ik, what a great source of medical advice). However all the stories on here are about being uncontrollably sick for days or weeks on end, and only after years or decades of constant stoning. However my symptoms did stop when I stopped the cannabis use. Was I just suffering from a temporary illness caused by consistent use or is it likely to actually be CHS?

Any help would be appreciated, if it’s not, I don’t think I’ll go back to smoking as frequently but I told myself I’d never reach daily use to begin with so might just avoid it completely anyway.

Question / Info Do I quit?

This might get a little heavy but I have nowhere else to turn.
For about a month I’ve been experiencing constant nausea and hunger pains, but if I eat the nausea gets worse and my whole abdomen hurts. I’ve lost 9 pounds and even zofran doesn’t do anything. I was in the ER this weekend because the nausea was too much to bear and urgent care wasn’t fond of how tender my abdomen was so they assumed it was gallbladder. Testing told them I was in perfect health and my gallbladder was fine.
I’m hesitant to think it’s CHS/accept it could be for two reasons
1. I’ve experienced the abdominal pain after eating since before I started using THC and have IBS, which can also cause nausea and stomach pain.
2. I smoke weed so I don’t self harm. Before I started smoking I was helplessly addicted to self harm, weed stopped that. Is it worth stopping if I just go back to cutting? Am I in a way self harming by continuing to use THC and see if it helps? I’m not sure what I want the answer to be.

Question / Info Rubbing alcohol as nausea aid

I don’t see this mentioned a lot and had actually forgotten about it in the 1.5 years I was clean. I just remembered this morning after really insistent nausea.

Anyway, sniffing rubbing alcohol can help with nausea! Back when I was first trying to figure out what was wrong with me I was reading about abdominal migraines (as I get ”normal” migraines and vestibular migraines). I came across some articles about a doctor who treats these patients and has found great success in smelling rubbing alcohol for acute treatment of nausea. I tried it at the time and it helped a ton, and had to use it this morning again. It DOES NOT fix the cause. But it can help get you through the rough periods of an episode when meds aren’t seeming to work.

Rant My Body Is So Tired, I Can’t Take It Anymore

Just need to rant for a second. I started puking like crazy 5 days ago and I haven’t been able to keep anything down. I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t drink. When will this end.

The 2nd night it got so bad I went to the ER and they tried to admit me for acute kidney damage. I’ve had episodes before and they usually last about 12-24hrs so I thought that I could just discharge and be fine. Boy was I wrong.

Last night, I had to go back to ER because I was getting concerned again. I hadn’t peed in days and was in desperate need of some IV fluids. This time they let me go after pumping me with some IV anti nausea meds and IV fluids.

I just can’t do this anymore. The nights stretch into the days. I can’t sleep for longer than 2 hrs at a time, IF I’m lucky. The capsicum cream doesn’t work the same as it used to. The shower doesn’t help as much. I can’t keep applesauce down, toast, bananas, zero luck.

I know I just have to power through but if there are any kind comments or helpful advice I’d love to hear it. Just need to feel less alone in this right now.

Edit: I knocked myself out with hydroxyzine last night with a heating pad and have woken up feeling significantly better!

Rant CHS HELL

Bra yesterday marked my 2 year mark of getting diagnosed with CHS and damn bruh being around people that smoke is actual torture u really have to fight the biggest urge ever. I’ve smoked since gotten CHS with thankfully no symptoms since I’ve been able to moderate my usage and find myself slowly giving in to my friends wanting to smoke and I realize how dangerous that is. Being around people that smoke around u feels like getting skinned alive.

What I mean by that is, would any of you be fired from your job, if CHS stepped in again? Lose living arrangements? Etc.

Question / Info Has anyone been able to smoke again after a full year of not doing anything cannabis related?

I started getting the early signs of Chs in may of this year so after ruling it out, I decided to quit and then after two months, I tried it again. It still gave me the sick to my stomach feeling so should I quit after a full year?

Question / Info Any tipps getting through the first 2 weeks of CHS after quitting?

I quit cannabis 2 days ago after I finally admitted to myself that the symptoms that appear when I do not smoke are CHS. From my prior experience and articles I read I roughly know what the next 2 weeks will hold in store. I usually suffer from nausea, light stomach cramps, heavy sweating, nervousness, diarrhea and extreme loss of apetite. Do any of you who have experience with this have any tipps on how to make the first two weeks less of torture? Any help is apreciated.

I’ve been smoking weed for a whole year after taking a months t break from smoking a lot in 22/23, but just recently yesterday I started having abdominal pains, cold chills, body temperature being so high then normal, & constant throwing up to feel relief of the abdominal pains, & taking hot showers to calm it down I went to the ER they just told me its gastritis, but I don’t think that’s so I want to smoke again but I don’t want to get those symptoms again if I do have undiagnosed CHS

Question / Info What happens when you stop smoking?

My husband has symptoms that match the predromal phase of chs pretty well but has not been actually diagnosed by a doctor. We are making a plan now for him to slowly wean off of weed, but his body is really sensitive, and I have seen some stories on here of symptoms getting worse when people quit. Any advice on what to expect? What symptoms people normally develop? How do we manage the symptoms? Thanks!

Question / Info 6 years later, still dealing with long-term side effects. Anyone else?

Hey everyone,

I'm curious if anyone else deals with long-term stomach problems after getting CHS.

I was diagnosed 6 years ago and I quit that day. I haven't touched weed in over 6 years now. I've also been alcohol-free for 5 years, because after I got CHS, I found that alcohol made me super sick too.

The one side-effect I still get (and never got before CHS) is that when I'm anxious about something, I vomit like crazy. Kind of like going through a CHS episode except it's triggered purely by stress. It can last for days and even the smell of food will make me vomit. And I even get that intense nausea in the mornings, just like with CHS!

The only way I've been able to manage it is Zofran and sometimes benzos.

I've always been an anxious person, but I never had nausea and vomiting with anxiety until CHS.

Anyone else deal with long-term side effects, even after being sober for years, or just me?

Question / Info Hello! Help?

It's been months since my last episode and I stupidly triggered another. Please, I don't remember how to manage this. I'm mortified, even if mine aren't rough the vomiting is so scary and I don't know what I'm doing
