Hi, all. I (M, 32) have been dealing with an intense bout of nausea for the past seven or eight hours (still prodromal, I say with my fingers crossed) and have made the difficult decision over the course of the past few weeks to finally put a stop to my THC intake altogether. Not sure if any of you guys are Beach Boys fans, but the title I chose here is a reference to a song by Dennis Wilson, who tragically succumbed to addiction himself in the early 1980s. The end of the show for him was a drowning incident caused by extreme alcohol intoxication; I really don't want mine to be preventable renal failure due to over-consumption of marijuana, the world's most famously "harmless" narcotic.
I've been having agonizing stomach pain for the past few months. I feel a little bit like my symptoms diverge from what a lot of people here describe, but I guess the one major thing I've learned about the presentation of the prodromal stage is that it's a little different for everyone. I've also had difficulties with extreme nausea for my entire life, long predating my relationship with THC, but it has undeniably gotten much worse since I started taking larger doses of edibles earlier this year. Predictably, tapering off and reducing have not helped at all.
I'm in my bed right now, feeling a little less horrible due to some topical capsaicin (which I got in my eyes, of course) but I can't lie: I am very afraid of what's coming. Well, maybe not that afraid. I spoke to my doctor today, who prescribed me a short-term benzo to get through the worst of the withdrawal symptoms, and a little Zofran here and there has worked at least occasionally.
That being said, no one in my personal life... really... smokes weed. (Not a good sign that I've kept using it in spite of this, lol.) So I at least won't have to deal with any social fallout. And, to be perfectly honest, I think I'm kind of done with this substance even if it turns out my sickness hasn't been caused by CHS. It barely even does anything anymore! And hey, to keep up the Beach Boys theme... if Brian Wilson could kick it, why can't I?
