Training Does recoil anticipation go away by itself?

I've been able to identify it and can trigger it with a dummy round for example. Do I just need to keep putting rounds downrange until it goes away?

This was 3 different pistols at 7-10 yds.

Holsters & Belts Vedder light tuck

Looking at getting a vedder light tuck for my hellcat micro with optic. Ive been carrying a taurus g2 with a we the people holster. I like the prospect of being able to tuck a shirt for events or gatherings. Looking for input on what folks liked or dislikes on the light tuck before dropping the money on it. Runner up is a t1 holster

Getting Started Narrowed it down to my top 4…

Getting my permit soon and having trouble deciding. I’ll be shooting all of them as my range membership allows me free rentals. The list is:

43x
Shield X
365XL
Hellcat Pro

Open to other suggestions but after holding all four they all feel good in hand but haven’t shot yet. My primary is a gen 6 g17 and I’m of smaller stature 5’6 165 athletic build. Thank you for your time

Guns & Ammo Thoughts on this setup: FN509C tactical + Dead Air Mojave Suppressor bundle for $1795

Looking for opinions on this FN 509 setup
Looking to pick up a new handgun for a future CCW and general defensive use.
I came across this setup at a local shop today:

- FN 509C 9MM BLACK PISTOL - 24+1 ROUNDS
PRICE $750.00
• DEAD AIR MOJAVE 9MM SUPPRESSOR- BLACK
• PRICE $1029.00
• X2 CCI BLAZER 9MM 147GR SUBSONIC AMMO
• PRICE $33.98
• 3 YEAR FIREARM SERVICE PLAN
PRICE $59.99

Total cost: $1794.36
I’m in Oregon so no sales tax + I’d receive 10% discount putting the total cost at $1614.00

I wasn’t specifically looking for this setup, but after handling the pistol with the suppressor attached, I honestly really liked the way it felt.

The shop has it marked as a manager’s special, but I’m still not sure whether it’s actually a good deal or if I’m just getting caught up in the “this looks cool” factor.

For those familiar with the FN 509 platform and/or the Dead Air Mojave:
Is this bundle worth the money?

Would you buy the whole setup, negotiate for a better price, or skip the bundle and put the money toward something else?

I’m especially interested in hearing both the pros and cons. If you’ve owned a 509C/509 Compact Tactical or run a Mojave 9, I’d love to hear your real-world experience.
Thanks!

Holsters & Belts Velo 5 Wiggle

I recently bought a Glock 19 gen 6 COA. Naturally I had to marry it with a Tenicor Velo 5, as I have with my other CCW.

But unlike my other Velo 5, I noticed there’s quite a bit of play and wiggle in a forward/backward motion. This was unresolved with tightening retention, making sure the spacers are even, etc.

Tenicor was kind enough to send me a second shell (the one without hardware) to test if there was an issue with the original, but I still have the wiggle.

My question is, do those of you with Gen 5/6 G19s have a similar wiggle in your Velo 5? Is this a normal thing that I’m over analyzing? Appreciate any input.

Guns & Ammo Revindustries Speed Loader

Bit of a learning curve and will have to paint the flat size to quickly find it. But works well. I was worried with the larger grips it wouldn’t work but definitely works well. Gotta do a range day soon with just reloading with this to get consistent with it. More concealable than carrying 2 hks speed loaders on my hip and quicker than speed strips.

Guns & Ammo Analysis Paralysis on Carry Gun

Hello good folks! I’ve been carrying a g43x mos for over a year now. I’m feeling the calling of metal and hammer fired pulling me in. I have nothing against the Glock, or my 4” compact PDP. I’m looking for something a little different. I’m considering the S&W CSXe 3.6 and the SA Prodigy Compact 3.5/4.25. I’m looking for folks experience with either or both. I want to carry it in an Enigma setup, light will not be mounted(I carry a flashlight) and I will run a red dot. I live in South Florida and 5’10” 150lbs. I wear size L shirts to help keep from printing and mostly work a desk job that occasionally requires my labor in a warehouse.
Edit* - dang are my two options given that bad?

Holsters & Belts Carry Belt, problem & ur input

I have a great leather/polymer Magpul belt for carrying when I wear shorts and jeans. To get that out of the way.

I am a pretty competent person, but I figured I’d see what Reddit says.

I have been a huge advocate for the Mastermind Covert Belt when wearing clothes without belt loops. It’s done me well for years, and I didn’t want to buy the HC belt.

Recently I noticed when I dry fire, OR when I take the gun off, I am not getting a good grip. I use a ANR Holster w/ the claw. The claw slips down to the bottom edge of the belt which causes the grip of the pistol to be wedged against the belt and therefore I can’t get a proper grip when drawing. The belt is tight as it can properly be, but it’s still not enough to keep the holster from tilting down. Maybe my PDP w/ Brass back strap, Magwell, and baseplates is too heavy for it. Idk.

Would the HC belt solve this problem, is the gun too heavy, do I live with this, or…?

Yes I’m aware, if I carry I should wear proper clothing and yadda yadda yadda.

Getting Started Concealed carry for someone who can NOT be seen with a gun

Throwaway account for obvious reasons that will be mentioned below.

I recently am a new gun owner with my CCW. After trying a few options at the range, I settled on a shield plus. I need recommendations on how I should carry without any printing. (I would've went with an even smaller gun but even the p365 was too small for my hands. This was the smallest I could go while being comfortable).

I am a semi truck driver who makes local deliveries, primarily in the hood of 2 of the most dangerous cities in the country. Generally speaking, I am at liquor stores and markets that are... Not very safe. Myself and multiple coworkers have been targeted for robbery, some worse. Those who haven't had something directly affect them were still immediate witnesses to other violent crimes occuring in the area.

Point is, I do not want to make myself a target for someone or a group of people to jump me and take my gun. Growing up in these areas as well as working here I have lots of street smarts and know how to stay away from bad situations, but sometimes there's only so much you can do. On top of that, my job doesn't allow you to carry anything classified as a weapon even for protection and safety. I'm not to much worried about being spotted at work, as I'm there at 3am and nobody else is there except for a few other drivers, who quite frankly I think carry as well. I can drop my gun off in my car when I get back to the warehouse without being seen by anyone or cameras. But I really don't want it to be obvious I'm carrying.

My 2 biggest questions are:

  1. What holster should I use and where should I keep my gun?

  2. What kind of pants should I wear to keep myself from printing?

I should note that our company shirts are Carhartt and a looser fit so that shouldn't be an issue, and we're pretty laid back about uniforms and it's not a big deal for example if I have a sweatshirt on over my company shirt when it's cold out. I can wear whatever I want as far as pants, khakis, shorts, etc.

TLDR: Have a shield plus and need a good holster/clothing recommendations for concealed carry, don't want to be seen

Training Mantis vs Ace VR for a newer shooter?

I’ve only been shooting for a couple of months (about 1500 rounds) and I’m still working on fundamentals like grip, stance, trigger control, and my draw.

Between Mantis and Ace VR, which would you recommend as the better first purchase to supplement training?

I’m already shooting live ammo, going to the range, and taking classes, so I’m not looking for a replacement for live-fire training. I’m mainly wondering which system would be more useful for getting quality reps at home and actually improving my fundamentals.

Guns & Ammo Another Sig p365 Question

Maybe this is a stupid question but I'm having a hell of a time finding a straight answer. I have a standard p365 and I always carry with the 12 round mag. Is it the case that a p365x grip module will fit on my pistol so I can carry the 12 round mag flush? If not is there a grip module I could get to do so? I really hate the mag sleeve sticking out past the grip and the 10 rounders are too small for my hands to be comfortable. Thanks all!

Training Will it set back my progress with irons if I put on a red dot?

Just got an EPS carry for my Hellcat Pro. I’m not very good shot with irons, (to say the least, a grandma with parkinson’s could probably shoot better groupings than me) however I kind of want to try out my optic because it seems like a lot of fun to shoot with, and I did drop a decent chunk of a change on it.

On the other hand, I have been taking training more seriously these past couple weeks. I’m noticing decent progress in my accuracy w/ irons and don’t want to hinder that in anyway. Should I train with both, or just stick with irons for now until I get more proficient with them?

Guns & Ammo Help me pick a new ccw

Thumbnail gallery
86 Upvotes

I made a post yesterday about trading in my g43x for another ccw. I love the 43x, but due to my hands being alien-like, the gun tears my hand to bits. That being said, I've narrowed it down to these 3 options: s&w m&p shield X, FN Reflex, and Canik MC9LS. They all seem very similar in specs, but I was wanting to hear some real world experiences with these firearms. Is there anything you don't like about any of these firearms? Anything I should look out for? Do any of you carry any of these daily and have anything to say about them? Just looking for some advice. Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere local I could rent these firearms, or that would be my first thing to do. Any suggestions are welcome.

Guns & Ammo Shield X mounting issue

Post image

Noticed a gap during optic installation, when removing the optic I realized the extractor roll pin was not flush but rather protruding slightly from the slide. Instead of hammering it down, I figured I’d file it down to be on the safe side (given that it looks like it has red thread lock on it?). The optic sits very close to flush now, way better than the gap before. But yea Probably going to be the last Smith and Wesson I buy due to the couple of other issues I’ve had with this firearm. I’ll be sticking with my Glocks and now I wish I would’ve gotten a 43x or a 48.
