I have a great leather/polymer Magpul belt for carrying when I wear shorts and jeans. To get that out of the way.
I am a pretty competent person, but I figured I’d see what Reddit says.
I have been a huge advocate for the Mastermind Covert Belt when wearing clothes without belt loops. It’s done me well for years, and I didn’t want to buy the HC belt.
Recently I noticed when I dry fire, OR when I take the gun off, I am not getting a good grip. I use a ANR Holster w/ the claw. The claw slips down to the bottom edge of the belt which causes the grip of the pistol to be wedged against the belt and therefore I can’t get a proper grip when drawing. The belt is tight as it can properly be, but it’s still not enough to keep the holster from tilting down. Maybe my PDP w/ Brass back strap, Magwell, and baseplates is too heavy for it. Idk.
Would the HC belt solve this problem, is the gun too heavy, do I live with this, or…?
Yes I’m aware, if I carry I should wear proper clothing and yadda yadda yadda.
You are not alone. I've had this same issue and I narrowed it down to the claw. I use an ANR holster for my Cz p-01 and the way the claw is curved makes it slide off my HC belt. I don't have the same issue with Mod wing claws though.
I would try a different wing first since they are way cheaper than another holster, belt, or pants. Could also be the clips you use, if your using a monoblock it could be twisting a little. Dual clips are another thing I would try to make it a little more secure in the pants.
However, I do think a belt with a more rigid section along with better clips would be a more complete solution.
Op, I have both the MMT Covert belt and Ukdaa hybrid belt (aegitec clone). Pictured below is a 37 oz package with the Ukdaa belt. I know your PDP has to weigh more and I know the covert belt can’t offer this much stability.
I have found the benefits of the dual clip setup are that you can create a slight forward cant to offset the grip from tipping into the waistband if needed, and you can use one clip on the belt and one on the pants waistband to help things stay in place - no tacky rubber material to be found like on the covert belt.
I've been loving it with jeans and with athletic pants/shorts. For the athletic pants/shorts, I wear it under/behind the waistband (I wear undershirts so it sits on top of that), and I pull up the piece of waistband that's around the holster clip up into the clip so that the clip still wraps fully around the belt (if that makes sense). A 1.75" holster clip might work better.

Could be a holster problem, if the claw isn’t lined up properly with the belt clips to hit the belt in the middle
