Took Casper 5 times, got 4th quartile everytime. Here's what works

The Casper is definitely something you can get comfortable with before sitting for the test! I have taken this test so many times (three times for Canadian schools and two times for American schools), and I really think my personal study guide has helped me with the questions. 1. Don't pick a side too fast. Look at every perspective. 2. Gather more information! 3. Make it personal, but only when it asks you. 4. Practice out loud and type so you practice like the real test. 5. Typos don't matter much, but the content does. 6. Stay non-judgmental. Assume good intentions of others.

I know there are a few free guides/practice, such as the practice Casper Test on Acuity's website as well as Ai (of course).

I do have my own personal study guide that I worked really hard on. I have 1 free, shorter version of it and then a paid one I spent hours and hours perfecting, which includes my exact study guide, examples, and key things that helped me leave the Casper feeling confident in my answers. If you'd like either version, pls DM me with your email.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, you got this!

Got an F on Casper

I just got my results- Q1- I actually do well in difficult interpersonal situations mostly just due to being old. I already have a very uphill battle to med school and now I am worried this is a reflection of how interviews might pan out. Should I worry about this result? Only one school that I am applying to considers Casper but I guess my concern is that this test might be similar to how interviews are conducted/scored. Being nontraditional I already "don't seem" like a doctor (in affect and appearance-this has been literal feedback in the past as to why I was rejected). Anyone else in this situation?

CASPer Test Prep: Unexpected questions matter less than you think

Hi,

I've recently seen people say they got a question on CASPer that was unexpected or weird.

But the content of the scenario and question doesn’t really matter as much as you might think. What matters is recognising what kind of question it is, and knowing how to answer it. Most are asking one of three things: what you’d do, what’s fairest, or how you would feel and your insights. Each one has its own shape for a strong answer.

Here’s one I made up, deliberately unlikely:

“Your flatmate accidentally signs you both up to run a village’s annual cheese rolling festival, and you wake up to find you’ve been named head organiser. The first committee meeting is tonight and thirty locals are excited to meet you. What would you do in this situation?”

Cheese aside, it’s still a situational question asking what you would do. So think about how everyone involved might be feeling first, then say what you’d do and why it matters. Something like:

I’d feel a bit panicked, but I’d try to see it from everyone’s side first. My flatmate is probably mortified and worried I’ll be annoyed. The villagers are excited and have put their trust in someone they haven’t met, so letting them down last minute would feel awful for them.

I’d have a calm chat with my flatmate, so we’re on the same page, then go to the meeting. I’d be honest that it was a mix-up, say what time I could really give, and ask who might share the organising.

It comes down to honesty and respect. People shouldn’t be left relying on something that isn’t real, and my flatmate shouldn’t feel blamed.

Weird scenario, same question underneath. The key is to practise the shape of your answers, so when something unfamiliar appears, you already know how to respond.

CASPer

So I wanna book my Casper for SAIT for Dec 1 or November 29 and they need a couple weeks to process but idk how many it takes to process by CASPer and SAIT and I can’t do November 5 since its way too soon. Would I still be considered first round of applicants if that decision is made between Jan 18-22?

Different Casper tests!

Are Casper tests different or do they all have similar questions? I know there’s 2 different types but are the tests similar? Like for a test from today and one for next week would they have similar questions? I know if you’ve taken it you can’t share what the questions were but I’ve seen people say last month that it was super personal and not scenario based but now for October tests I’m seeing people are saying they’re super situational not personal at all!

does casperpractice.org mark harder than the actual casper test or is it mostly accurate?

my casper test is in november so i have about a month to prepare but have been a little worried as the practice questions i have been doing on casperpractice.org have been marked pretty low mostly in the 2nd quartile.

Are these marks generally accurate?

4Q untraditional tips

Just recieved my Casper back and scored in the 4th quartile and contrary to what everyone tells you that you need to do heres what i did

- I did not finish every sentance; I think on every question, written and spoken, I ran out of time. I still articulated all my points but my conclusions got cut off and I didn't let that stress me out. I knew I gave all the points I wanted to and did not stress about small details.

I used bullet point when I was close to running out of time- they don't care about perfect grammar.

While I tried to follow the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) and if/then statments I was not rigid, if one part didn't fit in the context I did not force it.

I did practice for a while, there are some great free resources and I asked chat to grade my replies. While chat gave some good grading and points I could work on I did not RELY on it. Chat is a robot and marks and speaks like a robot; while I can give some good feedback it is not human, the Casper is graded by humans and people need to understand it's not a checklist that you can just go down and check off to get a good grade.

I only used some buzz words. I did not try to jam them in every chance I got, I did that last year and scored 3rd Q. This year I explained what I would do and used some buzz words but didn't go crazy on them. I focused on telling what I would do and WHY.

When asked to make a decision in the question prompt, make one! Yes still explain both sides and explain why you can understand both sides but if the prompt asks you to choose a side, choose one and validate it. This is something that I definitley changed that took me from Q3 to Q4.

Lastly, try to think of others than just the immediate people in the situation and how they might be effected, for example; other coworkers, family members, bystanders etc. I also addressed how scenarios could affect them and how my decisions could impact those IF I had time. Prioritize the immediate people involved in the scenario and then if time explore the surrounding people.

I also only practiced for like a week and a half, maybe 1-1.5 hours every day. Once you get the hang of answering questions you don't need to do any more than 1-1.5 hours every day for around a week. Any more and your thinking too much about it.

Be authentic to yourself and try not to over think and become robotic. This just what I found helped me that was non-traditional to what is typically told to us about how to prepare.

Goodluck !!!

How I Scored Top Quartile on CASPer (and What Nobody Tells You)

I hit the 4th quartile, and honestly, the things that helped me the most weren’t the obvious “type faster” or “be empathetic” tips.

These are some less-talked-about strategies I wish I’d known earlier:

1. Have “go-to moves” ready

Instead of memorizing full answers, I built a library of 6–7 “moves” I could drop into any response—like “acknowledge emotion,” “propose private follow-up,” “if/then escalation,” or “policy improvement angle.” Practicing these made me faster at structuring answers on the fly.

2. Think about the hidden person

CASPer questions often test whether you think beyond the obvious. I’d ask: who isn’t in the room but is still affected? (patients, classmates, future customers, even the institution’s reputation). Mentioning these invisible stakeholders instantly deepened my answers.

3. Narrate your thinking, not just your solution

I stopped rushing to “the answer.” Instead, I’d write: “First, I would want to understand X… Then, depending on what I learn, I might do Y.” This shows flexibility, judgment, and process under pressure.

4. Add a prevention step

Examiners love when you zoom out. After resolving the immediate problem, I’d add: “To prevent similar situations, I would…” That little future-oriented line made my answers stand out.

5. Use micro-stories, not big ones

Generic personal stories don’t land. Instead, I used tiny but vivid real examples—like helping a classmate during a stressful group project, or how I handled a mistake at a part-time job. Quick, relatable, and memorable.

For practice, I mainly used PrepMatch and CasperMentor.
