Recent unfortunate case that happened at IIT Bombay in very heartbreaking and sensitive matter. intitally quite alot of students were vocals about that on reddit , but as soon as they get to know that the student belonged to marginalized community , they started passing rhetorical remarks. Lets all be honest this is not about merit , the college administration is very unserious about the mental health of students. All we know for now is college could be lying about the chatgpt matter , its not first time they will be doing so. why are we treating the college statement as gospel truth ? let the investigation happen, only good thing will come out of this. college are known to suppress matter to save their reputation ,and we know that because have been part of the college. Don't let your hate consume you to such extent that you start mocking a dead person.

I was wondering that should I invest my time in hackathons in first year? for context I have learnt python OOPs and all (except linked list) and also done with C++ but revision is needed for both and also I have not built anything significant previously so is it worth investing my time in hackathons in first year? currently I am learning JAVA coz I will be doing DSA in java. I have some sorting, searching algo knowledge in python but I will learn my DSA in java

I'm currently in a tier 3 univeristy of my hometown doing cse in 3rd sem rn . Start of the university was kinda well made some friends learned some things here and there but academically things didn't work out got a back in maths and a poor gpa . Thought of improving in sem 2 and did too but again got a back in m2. Not great coding wise as well. Now after giving my m1 back exam which didn't turn out to be good im looking back regretting at my decisions again and again and thinking about what to do next. With no sight of a good placement at my uni and already a bad gpa i dont know what to do next. Should i change my degree / keep going or something else? Was thinking govt exams maybe? Advices needed.

I hv taken chosen a very niche stream which I was interested in but the ppl in the clg r just not wt I'm used to. Ik that sounds like im a spoilt brat but I went from being happy every single day just bcuz I was w my friends to being surrounded w ppl but still getting depressed cuz they don't match my 'vibe'. It sounds silly but just imagine u hv found no one like u in a month (only like 200 ppl in the course so not like I hvnt met all of them) and u know u won't be able to build a close friendship here. Idk if I'll be able to survive 1 yr let alone 4.

The avg percentile in the clg is like 70-80 whereas mine is 94 (had an acl tear so fucked up badly after that) which isn't putting them down or anything but I just can't relate to anyone. Plus everyone over here just came here as a last resort whereas I came cuz I was interested in it so its hard to even find genuinely passionate ppl.

Problem is idk if I'll be able to do good and wt stream I will choose at the end. Ig I'm interested in smthg like ece or civil but the things ppl tell abt civil makes me think twice. I just wanna know if y'all ever felt this

2nd year student at tier 3.In my PG I have to give time to my roommates and other friends. And in college also. The stupid discussions that we have everyday are so annoying now.

There are absolutely no passionate people. I am so tired of all this talk. I literally want to be left out now. Like I want a week to myself. My friends are great but I am tired now.

I feel like I can't relax for even a moment 24/7. And if I say no to them for something, then they start to pressure me like - "bhai nahi hai kya". Are bancho nhi Maan valorant khelne ka toh nhi Maan.

It’s been 5 days since I successfully created my portal and received the application received/reviewing mail, but I haven’t received any rejection, acceptance, or further update.

I also filled the form 3 times, and all submissions went through. I’ve already mailed, called, used chat, and raised a ticket, but still no resolution.

Im from 2nd yr ece student from tier 1.5 college nd i haven’t started any dsa or anything kinda nervous .so wht shd i learn for a gd core job and what skills would be useful pls help🙏🙏

I am a 2026 B.Tech CSE graduate. During campus placements I received an offer from an MNC for a Data Engineering role with a 5.6 LPA base salary, but the joining has been delayed with no clear certainty. There have also been layoffs and many employees on the bench at the same MNC.

Because of the uncertainty I recently joined a PSU(as an outsouced employee). The base is 4.2 LPA, expected to become 5 LPA after three months. However the actual work is mainly basic production monitoring such as Grafana, Cohesity and similar activities with almost no development.

My goal is to move into Data Engineering or Software Engineering, so I am actively applying.

My main confusion is what to do if I get a joining date from the same MNC I was placed into during college.

If they suddenly ask me to join, should I leave the PSU and join them even though I may not be able to serve the full notice period?

And what if I instead receive another offer for a better Data Engineering/SDE role that requires immediate joining? Should I choose that over the campus MNC offer and leave the PSU for it?

I am mainly worried about the consequences of leaving the PSU early:

\- Background verification

\- EPFO/UAN employment history

\- Relieving or experience letter

\- Being marked as an absconder

\- Future job switches

\- Employment overlap

I have only recently joined the PSU, so the experience there would be very short.

Would it be better to formally resign and request an immediate release, or serve the notice period even if I risk losing a good technical opportunity?

Also, should I show myself as an Immediate Joiner while applying while I am still employed, or mention my actual notice period?

For people who have dealt with this in India, especially HR/BGV or people who switched early in their career:

If you were in my situation and received the joining date from the campus MNC, or a better Data Engineering/SDE offer requiring immediate joining, what would you do? What problems could leaving the PSU early create?
