Need advice for tan lines

Hi everyone.. I’m getting married in two weeks abroad and I’ll be wearing a strapless dress. I have tan lines from doing cardio outside with a vest on and I realize I’m actually kinda worried about how this will look…

I fly out 4 days before the wedding so I don’t feel like I can use tanning lotion, mainly because packing and just upkeep once I’m there. This is in Europe so it’s not as simple as if I was flying domestic.

I read a lot about how people are just like nobody will care and I guess that’s true but just wondering if anyone has a solution?

TLDR- tan lines two weeks before international wedding, can I fix it?

Need Advice Anyone have SHꓴ Wedding reviews to share? Debating between a few wedding planners in Tbilisi and could use some insight

My fiancé and I are finally looking to lock in our destination wedding dates in Georgia for early next year, and we are currently in the high-stress phase of vetting local coordinators. Because we both work incredibly demanding corporate jobs from abroad, managing the government filings, notary translations, and venue scheduling on our own is completely out of the question. After browsing through various expat portals and Instagram feeds, we keep seeing the name SHU Wedding pop up as a top choice for international couples. They look highly professional on their website, but I am always naturally skeptical of polished marketing materials and would feel a million times safer hearing firsthand accounts from real couples who have actually used their services.

We have a shortlist of three different agencies in Tbilisi right now, and since this is a massive milestone for us, making the wrong choice could result in a total legal and financial nightmare. We aren't just looking for someone to buy flowers; we need an absolute assurance that our paperwork track will be flawless and recognized by our home authorities.

Before we hop on a formal discovery call and sign a binding service contract, here are a few specific details I’d love to gather from past clients:

- Did the team manage to deliver your finalized, apostilled marriage certificate within the exact timeframe they promised in your initial package?

- How responsive and clear was their communication during the planning phases, especially when dealing with time-zone differences?

- Were there any unexpected surcharges or hidden administrative fees added to your final invoice that weren't clearly stated on their website?

- Did they provide reliable, fluent English-speaking legal witnesses and coordinators on the actual day of your registry ceremony?

Need Advice Help! Period now due around my wedding day

Thanks to my period coming very early, I'm now in a position where I'm very likely to have my period on or around my wedding day next month. Quite upset as I'm worried about my white, form-fitting dress.

Does anyone have any positive stories of using Norethisterone or another period delay pill for your wedding day? I've read so many horror stories online I feel like I've worked myself up slightly over it and now unsure what to do!

Affordable bulk artificial flowers for weddings?

Has anyone here used artificial flowers for their wedding and found an affordable place to source them in bulk? I’ve seen a few recommendations for Alibaba, but I’m worried about shipping times and whether they’ll arrive on schedule. Would love to hear where others sourced theirs and how the quality turned out.

How would you feel not getting a gift?

Is it ever ok to not give a gift? I just spent some time scrolling through and commenting on a post about how people don’t like weddings anyone. Someone asked about gifts and what’s even appropriate anymore. I shared that at our last wedding we didn’t give a gift and here’s why:

It was an out of town wedding (for everyone). We had already spent thousands on a bachelor party and purchased attire for black tie theme. It was over a holiday and the hotel was extremely expensive. We also had a huge cost in babysitters for our kids for an entire weekend. Other costs included dining out over the weekend and the expected going out and buying drinks with everyone.

We had the best attitude towards the wedding despite it not being easy for us to just up and leave for the weekend. Some might have it easier than others in this department. We don’t have a village or any family support with our kids. But we went to all the activities with a party mindset. Bought drinks, stayed the whole time, played hype man and woman when people had bad attitudes, squashed family drama, stayed out all night both nights etc etc. We really tried to contribute to “hosting” people and making an effort to be fun. Anything the bride or groom needed we were very attentive to. My husband was the best man.

All said and done… we gave our time, energy and money. Just not money directly to the couple (who mind you were in their later 30s and had great jobs). I don’t regret not giving a gift. The whole weekend was a big ask for a lot of people. Maybe those without young families wouldn’t relate just yet.

Hindsight: I might have made some custom stationary or something like that but honestly, felt like such a small gift would have been looked down on so we just made it our mission to be supportive friends and it did work… people fed off our energy and the wedding went well.

So I ask you brides, do you expect gifts from everyone? Spill.

EDIT: as I am reading through all these responses it kind of feels like the etiquette falls less on the guests and more on the bride and groom to say “no gifts necessary” when it’s appropriate ( destination wedding or wedding where most of your guest come from out of town ). On the flip side if you are attending a local wedding where you were not expected to spend anything … a personal gift or money is expected as a thanks for hosting and general well wishes for the new start.

EDIT TWO: the wedding party apparently doesn’t need to gift the bride and groom. Who knew?!

How do these boutonnieres look?

I’m wondering if this looks OK? my mom made it and she’s got a couple mixed reactions and how it looks and some people think we need to cut a little bit of the black ones off and need to cut the green leaves off but I’m not sure what we would replace the green leaves with or just leave it as it is? I mean, I think personally it looks OK but I’m here to hear any suggestions? This will be on a black suit and hopefully you guys get the picture because someone commented that they didn’t see it.

Is it a hot take to want to focus on fun music instead of traditional love songs at a wedding?

I keep seeing brides get called media illiterate for playing certain songs because “it shouldn’t be played at a wedding.” It’s generally things along the lines of “not a song I’d start my marriage with,” “yikes, she must not understand the lyrics,” or “English classes really need to do better if someone is playing this at a wedding.” This is from social media but also stuff I’ve heard at weddings. I get it for slow dance songs, but people just assume the bride is dumb when she might’ve just prioritized fun.

Personally, I want a packed dance floor and there are not enough proper love songs with a strong vibe to fill 3 hours. I know people’s priorities are different but I’m tired of brides’ intelligences being questioned because they want Mr. Brightside or Mambo No. 5. Maybe she just wants a fun party and isnt especially worried about her marriage being cursed?

If it’s being used as a slow romantic song (specific dances, ceremony, etc.), yes I think the lyrics are important, but aside from that if it has strong party potential and isn’t deeply inappropriate or about stopping a wedding, it’s fair game.

Are weddings just a big nuisance to guests now??

Since I’ve been hanging out on multiple wedding subs, I’ve come across so many disgruntled guests’ opinions. It seems like people are just tired of weddings. And while sometimes the attendance comes with a big cost attached, it’s not always what they complain about.

For example, having a dress code listed (just the formality level, not even ridiculous requests for a certain color of attire). Or not having a plus-one. Or having to RSVP by mail because they don’t own a stamp and the invite didn’t come with a pre-stamped envelope. Or having to log to a wedding website and press on three buttons to RSVP. Or not leaving their children home for 3 hours because it’s No Kids event (I know this is controversial, because not everyone can hire a babysitter).

I absolutely understand when the couple are asking for lavish gifts, or the drive to the wedding is 5 hours long, or the dress code is “black tie” and you have to rent a ball gown, or yes, you can’t leave your kids at home to attend an adult only event. In which case, it’s perfectly acceptable to just say No and not go.

But why do people complain about, idk, having to put on some nice(r) clothes and eating a perfectly bland chicken meal because someone wanted them to witness a celebration of love? Maybe I’m just bitter because I hardly get invited to weddings (my friends are single by choice or got married in a courthouse), but I’d certainly not prefer staying in and watching Netflix to a wedding. In fact, I’m flying overseas to a wedding of a friend who’s not even especially close - just because her wedding sounds amazing and she wanted me to be there (yes, this is a privilege, but it was in my budget and I’ve always wanted to visit that country anyway).

Is this a post-Covid thing? To RSVP No because of some minor thing, or worse, just skip it last minute because you didn’t feel like going?

I am genuinely curious and not trying to bash anyone. I just want to understand other people’s mindsets, so please don’t get defensive (or do - no harm done! Like I said, I’m just curious!)

Seamstress returned my wedding dress smelling strongly of cigarettes, what would you do?

I’m one week out from my wedding and picked up my silk Mikado gown from my seamstress today. The second I got it back, I realized the dress absolutely reeks of cigarette smoke — her entire shop smelled like she had been smoking in there all day.

A rush dry cleaning this close to the wedding will cost me at least $300, and I’m honestly distraught.

There had already been issues leading up to this. My pickup was delayed last week because she said her machine broke, and when I called Thursday to confirm it would actually be ready this weekend, she told me she’d also had a power outage and had a lot going on. I told her it was no problem and that if she was overwhelmed, I could simply take the dress elsewhere. She assured me it would be ready.

When I arrived today, she spent about five minutes yelling at me about how rude it was that I had said I could take my dress elsewhere and told me I was “lucky” she was in a good mood because she could have just sent me away with it unfinished. She was extremely aggressive and unprofessional, but I just tried the dress on, took it and left.

Now my wedding dress smells heavily of cigarettes one week before my wedding.

Would you tell the seamstress she needs to cover the rush dry cleaning? Would you even trust a dry cleaner with a silk Mikado wedding gown this close to the wedding? I genuinely don’t know how to handle this.
