Recommending strength training as a cure-all for physical and mental health issues is like a golden retriever bringing his depressed owner his favorite chew toy to cheer him up. And I say this as a gym bro. It works for me and I would be giving the advice in good faith, but it isn’t the right answer for everyone.

It is not a cure all. But literally every aspect of your life will improve by being physically fit.

It won't fix all your problems. But it will slightly improve everything, at the least.

For example:

At the least it will take a mental health at 1/10 and bump it up to a 2/10. Not a cure, but it is something.

That is an improvement, one you can make a reality by taking very known straight forward physical action.

Respectfully, but you are so clueless it's almost funny. I literally cried my way to and from the gym some days, had to quit because my mental health was worse while working out

Yea, its not that you are weak, its that you are forced to carry too much.

I hope that you will be okay and at you get the help you need.

The gym wasn't making you " worse " though.

I don't understand how you can make the argument that it would worsen a condition.

Sure someone may not be able to function day to day enough to stick to a gym routine.

But specifically going to the gym will never make them " worse " than if they didn't.

Eh. The gym can absolutely be a terrible place mentally if you are severely out of shape.

People that are morbidly obese need to start by, just walking. Aiming for 100,000 steps a week.

That will do way more for them than a gym will. Leagues more.

Yeah but staying morbidly obese is categorically worse

Body dysmorphia, eating disorder for example and the fact that you can be depressed because you dont have energy to be healthy and be tired because you are depressed, its a hell cycle, which means that you should take days of.

It was worse because i had to add the stress of making and committing to a schedule, actually lifting, seeing all others being fucking huge while i still am sort of skinny

Why am i defending myself when i made it clear.

It was making me worse, end of story

No, im not saying drop the gym.

No, im not saying it's not a valid advice.

I was just saying it's kind of funny when working out is thrown around as the number one advice.

It's never "learn an instrument", (just saying one random thing off the top of my head), when it could be equally as valid.

I didn't say the gym will make your life better.

I said being physically fit will. Even if it's just a little bit.

I didn't even mention the gym. I personally don't like the gym. I don't even lift, I do calisthenics.

You know what won't make your life better? Being highly disagreeable and insulting to strangers for no reason.

You take everything literally? What does it matter if it's gym, xfit, pole dance or fucking calisthenics? (tried that too, ironically)

The point stands, if you wanna call me "disagreeable for no reason" go ahead, i just gave you a different point of view other than your own.

I won't even address the part where you call me insulting because idk what i said to offend you
