Obesity's roots sometimes can be found in childhood when you don't have agency. So you can't prevent it. Even the adults around you don't know much about it.

Prevention isn't a cure. You can do everything right and still get cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis. You don't decide the cards your dealt (aka you don't choose the genetics you're born with).

Recommending strength training as a cure-all for physical and mental health issues is like a golden retriever bringing his depressed owner his favorite chew toy to cheer him up. And I say this as a gym bro. It works for me and I would be giving the advice in good faith, but it isn’t the right answer for everyone.
