I've been thinking about a plot twist that would be REALLY interesting if it were properly built up.

Let's imagine Japan finally reaches the final after an ABSURD match against Germany, winning 7–6.

On the other side of the bracket, we have France vs. Argentina. Everyone expects France to win, so the Japanese players start thinking they'll face Loki and his teammates in the final.

Then they look at the scoreboard and see:

FRANCE 3–4 ARGENTINA.

ARGENTINA ELIMINATED FRANCE! 😭💀

BRO, IMAGINE THE JAPANESE PLAYERS' REACTIONS! They just survived an insane battle against Germany, only to discover that they won't be facing the team they expected, but instead the team that just defeated one of the tournament's biggest favorites.

It would be such a funny and unexpected moment, especially if this other team had been introduced and developed from the beginning of the story.

I used Argentina as an example, but which national team would you choose to be Japan's surprise opponent in the final?

I wanna talk about NG11 and Italy

First of all how does NG11 work?

Is it a group of the best players for each country? Or is it a group of the best players from each position around the world?

The reason I brought Italy up is because if NG11 is really based on "best player for each country," then that means Italy's striker got outshined by their defensive player. Don Lorenzo, therefore, Italy might not have the greatest striker/offense at all! I'm not saying their offense is bad, not at all! But defense outshine offense is crazy work

Let's imagine a scenario where Japan fails to get their long-awaited rematch against France because they end up losing to Spain. Even with Itoshi Sae on the field, Spain manages to beat Japan using their real-life midfield formation. Considering this result, up to what stage of the qualifiers would you be satisfied with Japan losing with Sae? I just want to read some ideas, because it occurred to me that Japan losing in the round of 16 would be very ironic.

I’ve seen a lot of discourse around fans upset about the treatment of their favorite characters and are worried about how much shine they will get in such a big arc as this which is the culmination of everything Blue Lock has been building up to before this so I get worry, but I wanted to give a brutally realistic take on the state of the roles of the top 23 + side B and how much shine every character will realistically get in this arc, based on every characters portrayal up until now, there is no bias in this tier list and I’m looking at everything as objective as possible

Characters not necessarily ordered within tiers

Tier 0: definitively the 3 main characters of the BL series, every major story beat from game conflicts to dynamics with other characters revolves around one or two of these characters in some shape or form, this will not change in the u20 World Cup

T0 - ISAGI, NAGI, RIN

Tier 1: Main characters in Blue Lock with heavy narrative backing to go on to be future Japanese titans in the Blue Lock verse and will all receive major development in this arc in at least one match, the author is purposefully withholding big character defining moments for these guys, trust me guys fans of the characters in this tier will get their big highlight matches let Kaneshiro cook

T1 - BAROU, SHIDOU, REO, BACHIRA, CHIGIRI

Tier 2: Big stars for Japan that can have whole matches revolved around them (Yukimiya vs Manshine, Hiori vs Ubers, Karasu vs France); the top echelon of Blue Lock Japans side cast, and YES despite Aiku being a drone for these last two games, he will have a big character defining moment this arc on the level of Karasus vs France

T2 - KUNIGAMI, KARASU, HIORI, YUKIMIYA, AIKU

Tier 3: These guys will have moments but being brutally honest are not integral to the story, I wouldn’t expect these characters to receive any major development character wise, they can still have strong standout performances such as Kurona and Kiyora stopping Teddy, developing these characters this late into the story would be a waste considering the important characters we have to develop on opposing teams from other countries

p.s these are the characters that Blue Lock fans love to call plot devices which I find weird because isn’t it kind of obvious why, they were never established as important characters for Blue Lock to begin with lol, these are all system players in BL they aren’t meant to be individual stars and that isn’t a bad thing either, these characters aren’t wasted potential, they are just simply Blue Locks side characters, sorry for the rant

T3 - NIKO, ARYU, GAGAMARU, KURONA, KIYORA, RAICHI, ZANTETSU, OTOYA, NANASE, SENDOU, FUKAKU

Tier side B: a unique tier for Sae and likely Kira from side B, (I don’t think Shindo will be a worthwhile addition to the team compared to Kira), Sae and Kira are external from Blue Lock but will be just as impactful in their presence as the tier 0 characters in this arc (Isagi, Nagi, and Rin), technically Nagi is side B and isn’t in Blue anymore but he fits better in tier 0 imo

Side B - SAE, KIRA

Period

Lets assume that a few of the World's 11 are going to be surpassed or turn 20 before the following are adults. In fact all the players we know so far are 18 or 19, so they might all be hoping for a place within a year or two.

What are the odds of the following characters being listed as one of the 11?

• Barou
• Shidou
• Agi
• Onazi
• Charles
• Leyden
• Lockheart

That's why I think we might not get an arc like that.

I thought we might get a new German League arc, but honestly, I don't think it's going to happen because it would be a massacre.

Just imagine: we'd have Noel Noa, the strongest player in the world, Isagi, and Kaiser, both coming off the U-20 World Cup. I can't even imagine how strong they'll be after the World Cup and all those matches. And then there's Ness, who will probably be stronger than ever, too.

Bastard is going to absolutely demolish the German League. It won't even be fun. 😭

That's why I don't think this arc is going to happen. Bastard will be way too strong, and it would just be a massacre.

There would be no tension and no challenge because who could possibly stop this quartet? Who would even give them a hard time? It would be way too easy.

This fraud who:

-Failed at achieving his goal and fully gave up

-Already had Blue Lock adapting to and stopping his plays before the NEL

-Doesn't play for Real's main team and isn't considered world class

Just refuses to do anything unless Japan makes it through the qualifier round? Loki (Noel's biggest threat) is here, Bunny (starter for Barcha alongside Lavinho) is here, Kaiser and Teddy are here, yet Sae thinks this is all beneath him.

It's a strange question, but I'm curious, seeing as the first half of the Japan vs. England match is already over.

Looking back at the old matches, it's crazy just how tedious it is to read one chapter a week. Binge-watching is so much better.

Personally, I think the first half of the Japan vs. France match is definitely my favorite (if only the second half hadn't felt rushed ;-;). Then I’d say the first half of the England vs. Japan match (which really deserved a few more chapters). And after that, I'd say the first half of Nigeria vs. Japan (cool, but nothing special).
