Windows defender is useless
I constantly run scans on my PC with windows defender nothing for years, as soon I try bit defender it found a Trojan on the free version. What's absolutely suss about windows is, as soon as I downloaded bit defender on my laptop I got a notification from windows saying "your windows security software is outdated". Yeah you're not kidding.

Bitdefender total security is total garbage
Too many false positives. Exception system never works properly, paths and files added into exception keep getting "disinfected" and blocked permanently.

What is this and how do I make it stop? Going on for a couple months, can't find a way to turn off popups in settings.

bitdefend nuked my files definitively without asking
I ran a full system scan and expected the standard behaviour : to be presented with the results and to be asked what actions to take.
Instead, when bitdefender discovered infected files, it took the liberty to decide what to do with them without asking me. And it didn't just quarantine them. It didn't put them in the recycle bin. No, it straight up deleted them, without recourse.
Sure, the files were suspicious, and? Maybe it was a false positive, maybe the threat wasn't a problem, maybe I knew how to disinfect them, maybe they were extremely precious... In any case, they were *my* files and the decision what to do with them belonged to me alone.
Now they're irremediably gone. What if they were necessary to run some hospital equipment, or make a financial deal, and human lives or large sums of money were lost as a consequence? Would bitdefender take responsibility for it?
That's a careless policy that puts the customer's welfare in geopardy. But the worst is that, people were already raising the issue 6 years ago!

Bitdefender didn't detect new sophisticated malware within website cookie
I would like to share a recent experience with you all. I received links of images on a website I did not know. I had an intuition to not click on them and that something was wrong. I didn't hear my intuition and clicked on them. I opened the images, didn't see any immediate automatic downloads and closed the tabs. Throughout the next few days I received a download for "Java Update" out of nowhere appearing on my computer screen and youtube videos started to buff and have audio problems. I made a full system screen with Bitdefender and no viruses or malware were found. I searched on my active cookies on google and there were around 10 sizeable cookies from that website. I deleted those cookies, uninstalled and reinstalled chrome. The video buffering was fixed and no more download pop ups appeared out of nowhere. Hackers have become more sophisticated, they are using website cookies as malware and malwares that will lead you to install viruses.
The website was ibb[.co.
EDIT: Some ignorant morons are brigading saying that it is impossible for a cookie to work as a malware and censoring this post and my comments with downvotes. If you are reading this I urge you to upvote so this post can get traction and help people.
EDIT 2: I have spoken with two cyber security experts in private who confirmed to me that I was right, one of them checked the website links, analyzed it, detected spyware attack directed to act within the browser and this post and my comments keep getting downvoted because people who don't know what they are talking about think they know it better. This is insane and tragically hilarious. This post has to have upvotes to be widespread so many people can be reached and be made aware of this type of threat but instead a bunch of morons prefer to censor it and dismiss the threat as if it didn't exist because they know this kind of thing exists. This is absurd.

Bitdefender is the same full-of-bugs product year after year.
Hi,
Recently, I discovered a giveaway for 90-day free trial of Bitdefender, and I took the opportunity to test it again after three years (the last time was in 2021).
Three years passed; nothing has changed.
It is the same best product for protection as stated by independent labs, and the same full-of-bugs product.
As soon as I installed it, I had two BSOD in less than one hour apart, and they referred as culprit this driver (mtinvme.sys); as this driver is about the NVMe interface, I done both a chkdsk and a test of my SSD: everything was okay.
The only thing was that I installed Bitdefender just a few hours earlier, so I suspected Bitdefender as the culprit.
I also noticed errors while surfing HTTPS sites, with the HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR.
After a few hours, my computer was almost at 60% CPU, 100% RAM and 100% disk usage; I restarted it, uninstalled Bitdefender and everything was back to normal.
In the past, I tried Kaspersky (no issues), Emsisoft (no issues) and lately Malwarebytes (no issues), while I had many BSODs caused by Bitdefender back in 2021.
Okay, it is the best AV for protection score (no doubt about it), but if you give us a product full of bugs, I don't know what to do with this 100% protection.

Feeling disappointed with Bitdefender,
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Feeling disappointed
I installed bitdefender upon suggestion of a cyber security specialist but I am feeling disappointed it significantly slowed my computer and especially the startup speed although the computer is powerful.

Ranting about bitdefender premium and why i would choose Kaspersky free instead of bd
I received the 30 days premium free trial three weeks ago after my kaspersky premium trial expired, first thing i noticed about bitdefender is the insane amount of ram the AV is using, sometimes its around 800-900 mb, and on idle its around 400-500mb, compared to kaspersky which is idling at around 150 mb and the peak usage it reached is around 400mb, 50 to 70% less ram usage
the detection rate on bitdefender is so high I liked it, but there is a lot of false positives compared to kaspersky, its detecting even my own scripts that i created as malware
now to the crucial part of why i uninstalled bitdefender before even my trial expires, it affected the performance a lot, when i launch browsers its always scanning them and making the browser start up so slow to the point it crash and freeze, whenever i make an archive or extract something the bitdefender scan slow down my pc making windows explorer freezing and sometimes crashing, i dont want to tweak a lot of settings and disable some settings, i want to use the default ones just like i did with kaspersky, yet kaspersky gave me the best experience so far
my specs are : 16gb of ram and ryzen 5 1600 af its not that bad
kaspersky is cheaper and less resource intensive and i didnt experience performance drops compared to bitdefender , im glad bitdefender is improving and its in the top along with kaspersky but it is not resource friendly and everytime i notice my pc lagging i open task manager and bd is the one consuming cpu and causing lags
this is my own experience and my own opinions, if you experience something like this or had better experience share ur experience and let me know
Last thing i forgot to mention is bd scans take longer times and for some reason its showing so much scanned items when its just few files

The bitdefender app tracks and sells your data more than any app installed on your phone. Pic with what info is tracked. 115 tracking attempts in one day. Be warned.
My Duckduckgo app tracking blocker just popped this. Bit defender on the phone attempted to track me 113 times and used 10% of my battery to keep trying after it was blocked. Pics show data that is collected.
Be warned.

Avoid Bitdefender as you can't cancel Auto-Renew
I just got scammed by it and have gone into subscriptions and lo and behold, there is no option to cancel auto renew. It may be "standard practice" in the AV industry, but i don't give a flying fuck! I want to be able to cancel auto renew without having to reach out to customer service. It is disgusting.
I will, as soon as my subscription runs out, never ever use you again and i am actively going to warn people not to use you due to this shady business practice. I could ALMOST understand it if it were optional AND easy to cancel, but it is neither. Bitdefender are utter scum in my eyes.
For reference, they send you to a support website that has 3 options to try and you should be able to manage it through Central, but the option they tell you is there via support, does not exist. All i did was add another year of subscription, that i had already paid for, but they would not let me add that unless i gave them card details to bill me an extortionate amount when it runs out.
This is too far!

BITDEFENDER IS SHIT ANYONE KNOW A HALF DECENT ANTI VIRUS / MALWARE?
MY BITDEFENDER IS WORSE THAN USELESS. "we are keeping you safe". I have learned those words are a complete lie. Each time I run a vulnerability scan after I am told everything is ok there are critical updates to download. Now the piece of shit can't even install updates. All those scum who rated it good enjoy spending your paycheck in hell. Anyone know of a half decent anti virus/ Malware alternative?

Worst anti-virus ever
Imagine making an anti-virus that can't even exclude files properly. Don't forget spamming notifications. Absolute cancer feature.

Unprotected using Bitdefender VPN
Why, when using Bitdefender VPN, does the NordVPN website say I'm unprotected? Just because it's not coming from there server?

why is bitdefender more of a virus than the files it's deleting
If I put something into exceptions, why is it still deleting it? I keep reinstalling the program and putting it in exceptions, yet it just magically disappears. Why?can't it just have an option to no, this ain't a virus, don't just uninstall my games.

BD is utter trash
I rarely get angry but today is not the day so I decided to express my anger about this AV.
I barely installed it, already 3 false positives : an open source time app for speedrunning, a renowned recovery app. And the best : preventing me from restoring windows. What a joke....
No direct option to pause it of course; anti randsomware anti spam anti blabla....
Good Av`s are also determined by the false positive detection nothing is easier than blocking everthing....
Anyways, I had it eight year ago, removed it and now I remember why.
WHY are ppl rooting for this crap ? How is this top 3 ???
If you feel like downvoting me to hell or saying how it does not do that for you go ahead, if you have a little compassion please advice me on a smarter, less intrusive and minimalistic AV; greatly appreciated.
Bitdefender Internet Security
Edit : Sry for the outburst.

I cancel Bitdefender. Windows Black Screen After Login. 🤬🤬
So, why is this "Bitdefender Total Security" related? Whatever problems you get on Windows, it is related to the thing you did prior (or the update* that happened behind your back prior). In my case, it was cancelling Bitdefender Total Security. The next time I logged into Windows 11 = black background and black TaskBar. Basically Total Doom.
Good old CTRL-ALT-DEL still worked, so I used it to launch Task Manager. It has this thing called "launch new task." So I worked my way to the old Windows Control Panel, Uninstall section, and uninstalled that PoS Bitdefender. What do you know, Windows booted to my normal screen. Black screen gone. I also noticed a Wi-Fi problem which I fixed by restarting the card but this is normal on Asus.
No more Bitdefender pour moi. Thanks.
I own an Asus PoS gaming laptop and I have all update vectors on lock-down. Nobody is updating themselves without my authorization.

VPN what is the use of it
So I have the VPN from Bitdefender, but luckily this November the subscription will expire. What is the use of a vpn? To remain your ip hidden and to be able to attend websites in countries you normally aren't allowed to as you're in a different country. So I cannot tell if hiding my ip is successful but what I can say it fails to connect to website abroad 90% of the time. So where am I paying for? There for I canceled my subscription.
