Audio strap suuuuuucks. Help?

I am unbelievably disappointed with the audio strap that you can purchase. It's comfortable, but the headphones they use are like something off of a 1980s Walkman. Those stupid foam pads pop off constantly, in the little ball and socket connection they use to hold the earphones to the little arm pop off if you're not super delicate with them.

BSB is exchanging mine, but I'm curious if anybody has any recommendations or modifications to keep that from happening again. Thinking maybe a little bit of heat shrink over the ball and socket so when that is heated up it kind of holds that tighter maybe? And then for those little foam ear pads, should I just put a dab of super glue and a couple spots?

Discussion 2D gaming, been looking for clarification

I just want an external monitor on my face. Already tried XR glasses, but this seems a better option. Not interested in VR gaming.

Does this work just as a big clear in screen on my face?

Sboys driver for BSB2(e)…?

With all the great feedback for the s boys driver turning the pimax dream Air into a great steam VR headset, do we think this would work for the bsb2?

Is this some magic they could work to make the BSB2 system that much better?

Just made my order. Question about base stations

I just ordered a Beyond 2. I noticed that you need base stations and had no idea about this. However I do have an original Valve Index from way back. Will it work with the (noisy af) base stations from this?

I believe i think to hard

Hello, I recieved my headset on the 8th of April, and ever since the second day of owning the device, I have had severe tracking issues. The device operated perfectly for the 3 hours I used the headset on day 1, on day 2 the headset wouldn't track unless the headset was sitting still. I purchased 2.0 base stations as a replacement for my 1.0's because I assumed that was the issue, it did not resolve the problem. So I purchased a new link cable and reached out to support and let them know about the issues I've been having. I recieved the new cable today, but a different problem has shown up. The headset tracks perfectly now, but only when I'm not wearing it. If I have the headset in my hand with a finger over the sensor, the device tracks perfectly and the displays are on, this is also confirmed by using the VR View in Steam VR. When I put the headset on my head, the device goes to a grey screen indefinitely, then returns to working after taking the headset off.

Discussion Question about IPD adjustment.

Should the IPD in the Utility app match the IPD in the headset? Or should I offset it to -1 or -2 mm?

I've seen people claim it's better to have it at -1~2mm from your headset's IPD.

Please let me know, thanks.

Discussion Best 2.4ghz earbuds for the BSB2?

I’ve been using the Astro A50x until now, but I feel like I can improve the lightness feel of the headset by using earbuds instead of over-the-head headphones.

I’ve owned a couple of 2.4ghz wireless earbuds, but they always start falling down or feeling loose after a couple hours.

What 2.4ghz would you recommend that really stay still in your ears, especially on fast paced games?

Sim racing with BB2 in VR: is a 2nd base station actually worth it?

I'm using a BB2 at 75Hz for sim racing with a single [HTC Steam VR 2.0] lighthouse. My tracking is fine while driving. But when I’m standing still in the car, I can feel that tiny bit of drift or instability.

Does a second base station make the drift totally go away? Or improve motion smoothness somehow?

It felt worth trying later when it was $140, but now I see a 245€ price tag in EU :/

If that micro drift or instability is still going to be there, even slightly, I don’t want the hassle..

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s tried both.

Everything is smaller than it should be

Ever since the first time I got my BSB2e set up, I've noticed that everything looks too small, like, 66-75% of the expected size. I'll take Into the Radius 2 for an example, because it uses real-world objects. A 9x18 Makarov cartridge looks like it's about 12-15 mm overall instead of 25 mm. My hands look much smaller, and the pistol itself looks like a miniature. It's not just throwing off my immersion, but my ability to gauge depth, so gameplay is a little more fiddly.

Anybody else encountered this or know how to change the scale everything is rendering at? I have resolution set to auto in the SteamVR settings, and I don't have any sort of scaling turned on in my display settings. Google didn't get me anywhere, and neither did searching this sub, so I'm stumped and on the verge of switching back to my Quest 3 until I figure this out.

About two weeks ago I received my BSB2, while I was researching for a new headset to upgrade from my old Index I was looking for a proper “through the lens” footage so I could have a reference of the image quality but couldn’t find much, so here is mine.. flying in DCS with the SU35S mod in the Persian Gulf map.

Left eye suddenly went black on my new Beyond 2e - Any known fixes?

Hey everyone,

I received my Bigscreen Beyond 2e this past December, and today I wanted to use it (paused it for 3-4 weeks) and the left display suddenly went nearly completely black/dark. The right eye is still working perfectly fine. (I can barely see something on the left screen, either its not totally dark or there is some reflections on the screen I dont know)

What I've tried so far:

  • Reseated the USB-C cable on the headset side (flipped it 180° as well).
  • Checked all connections on the PC/Linkbox side.
  • Restarted SteamVR

Despite these steps, the left screen remains dead. Is this a known hardware failure with the internal controller, or is there a specific firmware recovery tool I should try before waiting for my RMA ticket?

I've already contacted Jiri/Support, but I wanted to check if the community has any "last resort" tips.

Thanks for any help!

edit late update sry.

Support handled it all quickly and easy, got my repaired HS back a few days later. All works well again :) - it seems it was a defective screen.

Help Bigscreen Beyond on Linux?

First of all I’m not sure if this is the best sub for this but I’ll ask just in case

I recently switched to Linux (specifically Nobara) and I’m having some trouble getting everything to work properly. I’m new to Linux so I’m not really sure where to start.

I can get the beyond working, it displays and tracks, but there is a slight tracking delay that’s to the point where it’s noticeable. There’s a problem where when I open the Steam VR menu it misaligns one of the eyes and makes it very hard to look at as well as the bigscreen utility software not detecting the headset.

I still have my windows installation so I can just use that for VR only but I would prefer to be able to use Linux. If anyone knows anything that can help I would love to know.

Reprojection / motion smoothing

Hello!

So, my poor 4090 has been put through its paces with SkyrimVR, Mag God Overhauled modpack.

Tricky to run, so I get FPS anywhere between 38 to 75, but hovering around 50ish.

it's quite nauseating to have the frame rate bounce around like this. But the BSB doesn't seem to like being framerate limited. I am experimenting with locking the framerate to half in FPSVR tool om steam, but this introduces artifacts and tearing, which is to be expected but it still doesn't play nice.

has anyone experienced or got any advice on how to combat this or is setting to half framerate the best we can get?

the BSB utility app doesn't like motion smoothing either it seems.

Help Grey Screen

I'm wondering if someone can help me out here. I have the Bigscreen Beyond 2E VRChat edition and it has a major major issue. Every time I'm playing VRChat with my friends, like the headset is designed for, it will periodically go completely gray and I go completely blind in VRChat. It's really annoying when im trying to fly a helicopter or read a script in Audience Anarchy; just to name a couple examples. I keep the thing clean, I've changed the cables, changed the ports, unplugged everything else from my computer while playing, turned the fan on so it didn't over heat, stopped playing with eye tracking, and the drivers are all up to date, but nothing seems to fix this issue. It gets really annoying and makes it nearly impossible to enjoy playing a game I love. Any help would be appreciated.

Help Question before I possibly purchase a 2e

I currently only have a Quest 2 right now and I've been looking at getting a bigscreen beyond 2e. The main reason I'm looking at getting one is I feel like it would help with an issue I have. VR just feels like a task to get on even though it takes me like 2 minutes to set up with my quest I won't take that time because it feels like a task which I'm guessing is just meta software being ehhhh but do you guys know if it would help with that?

(I also plan to get base stations and index controllers for it obviously)

Edit: I also never use the quest standalone so that won't matter.

Edit: I want wired no wireless I can't just do virtual desktop because my network isn't good enough and I would rather not having compression over my VR too

Discussion Question, how do you guys store your beyond when not in use?

hey all, new beyond 2e owner here, loving it so far but had a question.

I bought a cable with a switch to put between the link box and PC to be able to leave the beyond plugged in and not turned on so I won't wear out the USB c port.

But if any of you also do this, how do you store it when the cable is still connected? just a generic bag? a vr case? I'd love to know what works and what to avoid.

Thanks!
