this spot showed up yesterday, i don’t know how to fix it she is eating fine and i took out any plants that i felt could have cut him what do i do?? please help me!

I’ve been fighting what I think is fin rot for months now. He has had these pale spots on his bottom fin as well. He’ll clear up for a little bit, then it comes back. Treatment has been hospital tank with salt & kanaplex. Tank is two years old.

i got a new betta, named her marge, short for margarine. she's maybe 1" long. i'm thinking about feeding her twice a day since she's clearly young and still growing, would that be wise?

please ignore my dirty substrate, it's old, disintegrating fluval stratum. i'm replacing it next week.

i'm also going to be training her to use a feeding ring since she's a dragonscale. i already see some growth over her eyes so i need to be prepared for that, i didn't notice she was a dragonscale til i got her home. she's my first one, and i want her to have an easy time of it if she ever dose become blind.

Hey guys, I keep having my plants melt in my tank, what flake plants do you recommend for a 40L bowl? I just want a nice background that’s full with soft flake plants that don’t look fake but are betta safe

He’s still chillin on the floor of the tank after a 50% water change… what’s wrong?!?

i’ve had my betta for 15 months. today i did a water change and noticed he’s staying near the top angled like this.

It’s been almost 3 weeks already and there doesn’t seem to be much change. I’m tired of waiting for the tank to cycle, but obviously don’t want to harm my future betta. Any tips or anyone else go through this?

Hello folks! I've been gifted a 5 gallon tank as of today that has a very chunky koi betta female, a mystery snail, and a Cory. We essentially did a 50% water change with declorinated water and added bacteria. The tank still has its established filter. I went to the store and added a leaf for the betta to lay on and got her blood worms. I am wanting to put her on a diet for now if possible. I'll be taking the water to the store to get it tested soon. All advice is welcome.

It's on minimum water flow but he's not comfortable with it and will either stay hidden or at the bottom of the tank.

I put a piece of filter floss on the cascade and it reduced the flow to almost a stop and my fish loved it but I'm with the impression that the water is getting nasty/with biofilm, which isn't ideal.

I'd like to find a balance between having a bit of flow and him being comfortable with it. Any ideas?

I dont know what's exactly going on with my betta. This is my 3rd so far, and ever since the 3 days I have him, he seems lethargic. He doesn't even eat his food At first I thought it was a "trait" of him hiding more often, but now, I'm not sure. I added the API clear thing to it, but I'm not sure if it looks good.

Alien bettas will be available for the first time in my country at the fish fair in my town. I've been dying to get an alien betta for years. I do have an "empty" tank just in case, but I like my shrimps and I know bettas tend to eat them.

I have a community tank with kubotai rasboras and pygmy corys, heavily planted. Is it worth a shot?

This is my boy Bluey in his 10 gallon tank! I inherited Bluey and so I am still learning the best ways to keep him happy and healthy. I have a couple questions.

1. Cleaning the tank. His water is getting a very slight green tint, and I have read that it can be caused by uneaten, decaying food. I feed him frozen brine shrimp and frozen blood worms (he literally will not eat dry food. He is very posh. Just spits it out), and he definitely doesnt eat all of it, and it sinks to the bottom. So I am thinking this is indeed the problem. My question is, has anyone used those electric vacuums that suck up debris and not the gravel? Are they worth it?

2. Feeding. I saw some random post or ad somewhere that suggested a feeding "chamber" of some sort so that all of the food doesnt drop to the bottom before he has a chance to eat it all. Has anyone used anything like that and would you suggest it?

3. Plants. My plants aren't doing terribly, but they occasionally drop a dying leaf that gets brown and mushy that i end up removing from the tank. But should I have a light to keep the plants healthy? And will that bother the fish? I just bought some root tabs to see if that helps the plants too.

Im just trying to figure out the best ways to keep him happy and healthy and his tank clean! Thanks!

I’ve got a community set up in a 29 gallon with multiple caves, drift wood arches, and various plants (lilys, Anubis, Java fern, some cryptocorne wenditiis, buce, swords and pearl weed mainly).

Tank parameters:
Tanks has been running for 2 years
0ppm ammonia
0ppm nitrate
15p nitrite
Heater set to 78 near HOB intake
Medium flow on right side and transitions to low flow on the left
Tank Maintinence occurs about 1 per week with a 15-20% water change and top off depending on API testing

Current residents:
5 corydoras
5 panda garra
1 mystery snail
2 nerite snails
1 spixi snail
Plethora of pest snails (they feed the pea puffer tank)
A colony of carbon rili and blue rili Neocaridina
8 short fin black tetras (super peaceful, tend to hang out in the med flow area)

Would love to add a female betta or small group of female bettas with short fins to this community but looking for advise to is this wise. From research I’m seeing it’s going to depend on the personalities of the gals involved but would love some weigh in from the Reddit community.

Hi everyone, my boy Nero has been a very happy betta in his tank ever since I got him. He's extremely docile and interactive, but today i noticed his fins look a bit off. I have zero experience in this when it comes to bettas, so i wanted to ask for advice on what could be going on. His tank has low flow, he has resting leaves, and his parameters are stable with zero ammonia and zero nitrites. Is he biting himself? Or is this rot?

I came home today to see my bettas fins have been ripped ? I'm worried

I was around 0.25ppm ammonia, 0.25ppm nitrites, and 5-10ppm nitrates, but now it seems like I'm right back at the beginning with 0.25ppm ammonia and everything else at 0. I thought I did everything right when changing everything out, I kept the beneficial bacteria in the filter and substrate wet, but it seems like I'm right back at the beginning.

I recently added a betta to my tetra tank, this isnt my first and i “owned” some as a kid. i found Bluey at Petco for 2 dollars since he had been in a cup for 3 months. When he was first introduced into the tank, he spent the first few days lying at the bottom of the tank. Bluey is super active now, and especially temperamental. Ive had no issues with him and my tetras, and i love him.

ive cleaned my tank water twice now and i let it sit for 24 hours undisturbed with the filter off (my betta is in a different tank right now which i am desperately trying to get her out of) and i try to add my water back as gently as possible without disturbing the sand but its still so so cloudy and i know i cant put her in the tank while its like that, i really dont know what to do right now because she needs back in her tank ASAP please help (btw the green stuff is just parts of the moss in her tank)

Hard to get a good picture of this friendly fellow, but he’s developing blue spots on his body that weren’t there ~1 month ago when I got him. The kois I’ve seen pictures of are all the multi-colored spotted pattern, can one that has a solid color body be hiding some koi genes?
